“We had our Christmas party here. Chicken dinner with a vegetarian option. The food was fine as was the service. I was surprised that a dingle glass of wine was as expensive as it was as the legion has always been famous for reasonable drink prices. Still, this is a nice location.“

Great service from Jake, gorgeous atmosphere, attentive hostess and manager who came to check up on us! Seats are very comfortable and posh. We ordered avocado toast and egg benedicts. Price was good especially since they had an all day happy hour! We never felt rushed and talked there for ages.

Heard their Italian chef worked in Michelin level restaurants with Gordon Ramsay and cooked for the Canucks NHL team. It’s rare to find such a swanky place in Surrey that’s big enough for weddings or corporate events!

“We love this location for large group events as they are always very accommodating. There’s lots of free parking in the shopping complex and centrally located.
The service and staff were great and the food never disappoints. There is something for everyone to choose from the menu and don’t forget to save room for dessert.
Prices have gotten a little higher but that’s with everything out there these days.“

“Hosting our wedding at Riverway was definitely one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. It is such a beautiful and centrally-located venue. The ceremony space is right by the water and is truly so stunning in the summer. The indoor reception space is large with wooden beams and natural lighting, which meant we didn’t have to invest in as much décor as well as it was already naturally beautiful. Bradley is such an incredibly kind and patient person – we had so many questions in the months leading up to the wedding, and he answered all of them in such a timely and thoughtful manner. He was so helpful for our rehearsal as well and he even checked in with us in-person on the day of, to congratulate us and to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. We feel so lucky that we worked with Bradley for the wedding – even though he must deal with so many couples, he definitely made us feel cared for and was a big reason for why we were so happy with our venue choice.

Additionally, because the venue is owned by the City of Burnaby, we really appreciated that there were no hidden fees that we had to account for such as administrative fees, taxes, or service charges. The bartending and event staff were also very attentive and kind, and the buffet line ran very efficiently despite that we had 200+ guests. We got so many compliments from our family and friends on how beautiful the wedding was and most importantly, how delicious the buffet was (in particular, the mashed potatoes, striploin, and sticky toffee pudding). We feel so lucky that we were able to snag a spot in the summer for our wedding at Riverway – it is definitely one of the best venues in Metro Vancouver and we would highly recommend it to any couple!

“The last time I dined at this restaurant, it was called Hazards, and we lived 5 minutes away. Having moved 10 years ago, it was nice to return to a familiar place. The service was pleasant and timely, and the 3 of us really enjoyed our meals. I had the blackened salmon tacos, which were very flavourful and expertly prepared. I will definitely be back!“

Kid-friendliness: I'm not sure there was no kids there at the time I was there but I haven't been there for a while the last time I was there was one West Broadway and they had lost the kids at that time and everybody was very patient and understanding

Wheelchair accessibility: They have a disability button at the front door so people coming in wheelchair scooters so on and so on lots of wide miles they remove chairs for wheelchairs who won the table so yes very wheelchair acceptable“

Anyway, Chef Amol made such an amazing veggie burger, which was made CLEAN, and perfectly balanced amount of ingredients and super FRESH. Our servers Vicky, and Anyi were calm, patient and gave us enough space as well. We had some interaction with Angela as well upon arrival and was very calm and friendly, overall there was cohesion between staff and the conversation was fun and also Josiah remembered us from a long time ago, that friendly n welcoming energy is becoming exceedingly rare in the restaurant industry and needed to write and update my review. Also please try the mash potatoes with creole ? it is absolutely BOMB as well as dirty fries tossed in honey. The food was simply outstanding each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The kitchen clearly knows their craft, as every bite was a delight. “We were visiting from out of town and stopped at Cactus Club for my partners birthday dinner. We are so happy we chose Cactus as the food and service were great!

We were lucky to have Ghayass as our server and they were amazing! Very attentive and made our birthday celebration feel special. Huge shout out to Ghayass!

For food we started with the calamari and it was amazing, I could have eaten a large entree sized portion of just this! We also got a green goddess salad that was great and the bolognese pasta which was really good.

We ordered a crème brûlée for desert and Ghayass made it special by bringing it out with a happy birthday message and a candle, thank you so much! The dessert was amazing!

Quite popular restaurant with often a line, on Mondays. Nevertheless, the line moves fast and tables are always spacious and clean. Food comes very quickly. I almost always get the peppercorn steak, medium rare and it’s phenomenal. The washrooms are even a highlight, as they smell great and are clean. I would recommend this place any day, as the drink specials, service and food are exceptional. When grabbing your bill, the price truly is the cherry on top. A lower budget for a quality dinner, ensures I always tip BIG. I am beyond grateful places like this exist, and I want to keep coming back to support them.“

The drinks were delicious, especially the bellenis. Nats lager was smooth and wasent bitter

The food was pretty good! However, I am a bit peeved at the portion for the new home style potroast, could have used more beef. The cabanara bacon and shrimp were by far the best dish we had. The double patty burger was good and bit dry and saucy, causing the bun to get soggy towards the end.

The atmosphere does feel a tad outdated, and it was odd that there wasn't anyone dining in the patio despite the propane pyramid heat towers being on.

“There's been a power outage in parts of BC for over 10 hours today (some 200k+ without power). Understandably, when we got to the White Spot, Kensington Square, there was a crowd of folk looking to get a meal. Under these circumstances, the service was as good as could be expected. Emma, our server, was a delight. She kept checking in us even though she had so many tables to manage. Christine, the AGM was brilliant! Calm, welcoming, beautiful warm smile that let us know she had everything under control and we'd be seated as soon as was possible. Jeferson (one f) the GM was dealing with everything else to ensure things went smoothly, and still had time to offer us a free dessert because our meal had been delayed.“
