“We really enjoyed biking from the main town area over to the Vesuvius harbor area. There are not many businesses nearby, so we were thrilled to find this local cafe. The coffee was nice, and after lots of biking, the grilled sandwiches were the perfect lunch. If you’re in the area or waiting in the ferry line, definitely make this a stop on your itinerary. Thanks for the great service!“
“Here is the deal. I don't hand out 5 stars. But 4.9 was not a choice. T J Beans is not a restaurant. MORE than a coffee shop. Not a snackbar. MORE than sandwich shop. The place is unpretentious and as unique as the island clientele that frequent it.“
“A mixture of performance art, cafe, organic food, and stirred with a wand of mystical indifference. The owner is a bit challenging and she might serve you or might not, it's kind of like getting an instant tarot reading from your hippy barista. If she is happy she is kind and you shall be served, if she is moody well then it's performance art. The drinks are really good, excellent even. The food is excellent and mostly confectionery and has lovely spices. I am a repeat customer and she even gives me the evil eye from time to time, but she then comes around and does make a wonderful beverage. The rock salt nextdoor has the worst coffee, chai, and is terrible so ya know there are limited options. It's not personal...it's just coffee...Dietary restrictions: Lots of dairy free and gluten-free alternatives.“
“Hands down the best coffee I've ever had! You instantly feel welcomed, and have your order in your hands within minutes. It's run by an awesome family that always takes good care of their staff and customers - They also serve a mean pastry!“
“Because we are lucky enough to live in the beautiful Cowichan Valley we are at the Leeward Cafe on an almost weekly basis. The food is always scrumptious and the staff welcoming, friendly and courteous. We love the ambience of dining in the clean and cozy cafe but in fair weather we bring our own mugs, which the staff happily fill, and we sit on the quaint benches out back and enjoy the boats and birds. The Leeward Cafe and its sister business True Grain Bakery are delightful!“
“I had the best oat milk latte and chilli. the service was wonderful, and they were accommodative to my celiac allergy and replaced the complimentary bread with a gluten free brownie at no extra charge. i was so pleased i went back within the week. definitely a hidden gem and i wish i discovered this place sooner! i want to come by every time i’m in the valley if i can.“
“Under new ownership. Place looks great and welcoming as always, but with a great new food menu!We had a chai latte (it has always been our favourite go-to for the BEST chai lattes anywhere) and it tasted different. The new owners were super responsive to our feedback which is impressive. Looking forward to going back to try again.“
