“We visited on Valentine's Day so it was probably unusually busy. The overall ambiance wasn't great, it felt like a basic and noisy pub. Not so great for couples as there were a lot of huge tables. The food was not gourmet but excellent - very tasty. The servers seemed very friendly, competent and experienced but were hampered by the kitchen being overwhelmed. Definitely good value for what we had. Totally okay as a place to grab a good meal - just don't expect a nice cozy ambiance....“

“We had the pleasure of eating at Four Mile Brew Pub on Sep 2nd, 2024. We were visiting Victoria on a Cruise Ship and a local couple picked this establishment for lunch along with another local couple. The food and service were outstanding, and the building is beautiful inside and out. We ate in the pub area and really enjoyed the experience. The manager really came thru, though. When paying a card case dropped to the ground and we didn't notice it. The manager found it, and seeing a California phone number called and got the house sitter who gave the Cruise Ship information, and then let us know. The manager dispatched an employee to return the card case. The house sitter let us know and we were able to talk to the manager and since the employee was on the way, we were able to meet him and retrieve the case. High praise to the staff! Thanks!“

“You’re insured to have a wonderful experience at this establishment! Set in an old bank building the decor was beautiful and timeless. The overall atmosphere was perfect for our first meal upon arrival in Victoria.
We ordered the fish and chips and the green Goddess salad to share. Everything was delicious, fish was flaky on the inside and just the perfect amount of crunch from the breading. The ratio of fish:bread was high! Not too heavy on the breading. The chips were perfectly cooked. The green goddess salad was a perfect compliment to the fish and chips, crunchy and bright was good acid to cut through some of fried grease of the other dish.
And the peach cider completed the meal and made it feel like springtime.“

“Located just around the corner from Victoria's major landmarks this delightful English pub has atmosphere that is only surpassed in greatness by it's food.
I walked into Bartholomew's one afternoon for a pint when I had an hour to kill in downtown Victoria. After browsing their extensive selection of draught beers I settled on a English ale made locally. Though the plan to just have a pint was quickly derailed by the delicious aroma of the food of the patron next to me compelled me to buy their 22$ ultimate burger with a side of salad. The burger was so delicious that I was sufficently impressed to returned that night with my partner for dinner. At dinner I got the toad in a hole (Yorkshire puddings with roast beef, gravy, potatoes, and vegetables) which was remarkable and served rather quickly after ordering.
Overall I will be returning to Bartholomew's and it has secured its place as one of my favorite pubs in Canada.“

“Wonderful atmosphere, food and service. We tried the shepherd’s pie, chimichurri burger and south heaven dessert. Fries accompanying the burger were excellent and the burger tasted fresh with creamy-herb flavour. The pie had a reach flavour and was a perfect meal size. The dessert was really light and yummy. The chef came over to introduce himself and chat with us. We were ordering from the brunch menu. Looking forward to returning to try other menus.“

“I went here with one of my girl friends the other night and had the SWEETEST waitress. She was so friendly/accommodating. I usually don’t write reviews for restaurants - but she was just so nice! So if you’re her boss and you’re reading this, give this lady a raise!! Didnt catch her name but she had dirty blonde hair / average height!“

“We celebrated our Christmas party at this restaurant yesterday. The place itself is very nice, with a great atmosphere and a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, the food was a complete disappointment. Everything we ordered from the menu was extremely poorly prepared. The dishes were overly salty, over-peppered, and simply unpleasant to eat. It reached a point where no one at the table wanted to continue eating. We tried almost every item on the menu, hoping to find something decent, but nothing met even basic expectations. Considering the amount of money we spent, the quality of the food was unacceptable. The overall level of the kitchen was comparable to very low-quality street food, which was shocking given how good the restaurant itself looks. The management seriously needs to reconsider the standards of the kitchen and the work of the chef.“

“BBE. Best Birthday Ever. Friends took me to 1550's for beer and wings for my birthday. I love chicken wings and the selection here is awesome and delicious. Keith the owner wished me Happy Birthday and promised NOT to have the crew sing to me!Highly recommended by someone who's been enjoying chicken for five and a half decades and beer for slightly less. “Came in for lunch, the bartender was talking away on her cell. Had to wait five minutes before she acknowledged me. Got my order in. Another couple in the upper sitting area said that the lady should be serving not sitting on her phone. I was enjoying my burger until my teeth was flossed with a long grey hair in the burger. She didn't offer a new meal just gave me $3 off then went back onto her cell. Didn't finish my meal. Was going to order another beer and buy my friend lunch but decided to go eat at the casino instead. Worst place, never going back.“

“I’m going here for so long. It’s a place. I always drove past but today the fifth Street bar and Grill was so full that I couldn’t get a seat my girlfriend so we decided to try this place that we’ve always hunted and hard about and I had an excellent experience with great food And chicken burger was amazing. The chicken Caesar salad was amazing and the service was amazing. Kiana was our server and she did a really good job very friendly hospital hospital and make sure she did her job right and we took her well.“
