“Did chipotle chicken poutine was delicious. The burger smash tacos were pretty good. A little more sauce or maybe a side of ketchup would have gone a long way. The cocktails were delicious but a little small for the price. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was fabulous. Downtown UBC on a sunny day on the patio is a great stop“

“Randomly came upon The Brighton, walked in and immediately felt a New Orleans vibe which was delightful. A good ole dive bar feeling where one can relax and be yourself. The staff were amazing, specifically Hubert who provided a laid-back vibe and very good conversation while I sat at the bar. Hubert was working hard pouring drinks and making Nachos for a growing mix of ppl coming from the Lamb of God concert. The 2 girls waiting on customers were also pleasant and down to earth. The music was an eclectic mix of old school rock all the way to the 80’s, 90’s and current metal. Loved it! The place was open late with No Pressure to get during last call. If you’re in Vancouver go, see Hubert at The Brighton before or after a concert at the Coliseum, or a drink to sit back and look at all the awesome memorabilia on the walls.“

“Definitely on the affordable side, it's an amazing place to go on a sunny day in Vancouver - the patio has a lovely view of Gastown and the mountains. The food was really good (portions a bit on the smaller side, but not upset with that since prices are on the lower end). Service is a bit slow but overall really enjoyed my time here and would go back gladly.“

I also tried the poutine; it was good, just a bit salty for my taste. I didn’t try the other food, but everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked solid. “Not long ago -- early March I believe -- 15 of my teammates and I dropped in to East Side Craft House for some delicious chicken wings after rugby practice. The place was packed, the staff was friendly and accommodating, the beer was flowing, and everybody was having a great time!

Unfortunately, that night there was a group of 8 who were disgruntled that they couldn't be accommodated together on such a busy night. They kept complaining they'd made a reservation despite there being no reservations allowed on Wing Wednesdays.

Oh well. Otherwise, everything was great as always -- the food, the drinks and the service -- 5 stars all around!

Of course, this review began with a bit of fiction (in response to the fiction posted by the group of 8?). There was no drop-in rugby team. Everything else is true.“

“Been in here twice now while on visits to Vancouver. I'm rating this place as a dive bar and as dive bars go, this place is great. Friendly bartender. Clientele are either pleasant or indifferent to your presence and not causing any issues. Pool table is straight and drinks are cheap. I'd recommend to anyone wanting to check out a safe dive. Props on the exterior signage!“

“Came in for hockey and karaoke on Thursday. The staff are super friendly and drink specials are competitive - compared to most places in Vancouver the price is very good! Food prices are also fair - I didn't eat but plates looked great. Considering there's a strike going on, they still have a well stocked bar.“

“I came in on a Wednesday, at noon. It was quiet and then had a little lunch rush. The bartender was awesome, service was great. I asked what to have and she said the tacos but I really want a the chicken sandwich. It was awesome!! Perfectly fried, great bun that didn’t disintegrate, and very delicious. First time coming here, I’ve been on campus for work over a decade. Happy I tried it and I’ll come back. Thank you!“

“Popped in to the Kings Head this afternoon. Our second visit as I am visiting family. Had a great afternoon sat in the sun when the clouds would let us. But no matter as the heaters were on and kept us nice and toasty. Had some great wings & fry’s all washed down with some Cider. Served by Christina who’s new to the role but destined to be management in no time, attentive without being overbearing. And made us feel right at home. Will definitely be back soon… cheers guys“

“The moment I walked in I could tell it was a classic neighbourhood spot. The space feels cozy and welcoming, like a place people in the community have been coming to for years.

I ordered a pasta dish and a salad. The pasta was well seasoned and cooked just right, and the salad tasted fresh and bright. Everything on the plate felt balanced and satisfying. It was the kind of meal that left me feeling full and happy, not rushed or overwhelmed.“

I went for my first time yesterday to watch the Off Grid Comedy open mic, and laughed my ass off!

Love the unique, cozy, and historic design of this venue. Also, has a bunch of arcade games and pool table, if the comedians aren’t entertaining enough for you, teehee!

Had some food and drink specials and everything is reasonably priced. Also, no cover, which makes the value of your Monday night out, increase exponentially.

The bar service was professional, friendly, accommodating, and fast! The hosts and comedians were all friendly and welcoming, and super stoked people came to just be audience members, which made us feel extra special.

A great range of topics and styles of comedy, even some crowd work. I laughed, giggled, and smiled the whole night! As I sat in the front, I enjoyed interacting with some of the comedians during their crowd work.

I highly recommend checking out Astoria and Off Grid Comedy every Monday night, especially if you are wanting a beautiful venue and very supportive group of comedians and audience members to perform in front of, as anyone is welcome on the stage.

Because of how fun and supportive everyone is, I have been inspired to start learning aspects of stand up comedy, so at some point I too will stand up and make some jokes.

Thank you again, Astoria and Off Grid Comedy for such a great Monday night out and I will see y’all again!

“A highly recommended brew pub from friends who have visited Vancouver. Great friendly staff and a busy place on a Friday night and I would suspect all the time.
Terrific local brews but, sadly, their kitchen was a bit rushed and my FISH AND CHIPS selection was disappointing. Chips were terrific .....cooked crisp as requested with a lovely flavour but the fish batter wasn't drained properly and fried too thick which overwhelmed the taste and completely lost the fish.“

“Love this place! excellent food and drinks, everything you’d want in a sports bar. Must try the pear and blue cheese pizza is amazing!

But above all, the service is what truly stands out. Sarah went above and beyond 🫰🏻 providing outstanding service. She was kind and very attentive, without ever being overwhelming. We were able to relax and enjoy our time, yet she was always keeping an eye on our table and would approach at just the right moment, whether our drinks were running low or we were finishing our food.

“A funky little place carved out from a teto store front that once was a 2nd hand cheese shop! Staff seems laid back, friendly... best to check their web site for various events they have on a regular or semi regular basis. Web site says they take only cash... not true. I get the impression there's no food served there but they don't mind if you bring some of your own as long as you're not ostentatious about it.“

“We had a great time at happy hour. Service was excellent, place wasn't too crowded, good vibes overall. And the happy hour menu was solid. I think a lot of places make happy hour food menus that look cheap but they give tiny portions. This was cheap for a good portion with lots of crispy fries. I enjoyed the wings with Barney's hot sauce.“

“Delicious burgers! Juicy patties and soft buns, what else could you ask for? Delivery was efficient and the items arrived still hot. We were positively surprised by the potatoes; we thought they were fries by the description on Uber Eats but they’re actually deliciously flavoured baby potatoes.“

“Atmosphere is nice. We were sat in a spacious booth for two. I wasn't enthusiastic about my main (lettuce wraps). It had a different flavor profile and what I've had in the past.

The sauce had a sour note to it and I wasn't expecting it. I would have preferred a dominantly sweet wrap.

My dining partner enjoyed his entre.

There's free parking just outside the restaurant doors. The spots are snug and the spots right in front of the door may be difficult to maneuver into, if there are spots that are full.“

“Called and spoke with Barclay, a manager. Asked for an exception to the rule. Because of a medical condition and comprised immune system, we were not able to eat in for a birthday evening. Barclay granted us a take out birthday dinner we were able to pick up to eat at home. I cannot say enough about this service. He went above and beyond to make sure we were able to get the food we ordered and had it waiting for us we were got there. Simple in, pay and out. Much appreciated and many thanks.“
