“Just go it’s very awesome“

“This is a review from August 2, 2025: We stopped at Shuck Taylor’s on a whim while off the ship for the day, and I’m so glad we did. Even without a reservation, they accommodated the two of us last minute with genuine hospitality. It’s a simple, no-frills spot, but the food was absolutely extraordinary.

The attention to detail was impeccable—from the freshly shucked oysters served with a pile of freshly grated horseradish to their own house-made oyster spirit, which added an unexpected flavor burst to a glorious Bloody Caesar. The Dungeness crab was to die for—sweet, rich, and perfectly prepared.

One of the standout dishes was the buffalo oysters—totally unique and so delicious I wanted to order more, but I was already too full. Sitting at the bar felt casual, but the warmth and attentiveness of the staff (including, I believe, the owner) really elevated the whole experience.

“The manager was very accommodating in several changes to our reservation adding people. We were well looked after with a wonderful welcome, table was ready on time and service was very attentive. “Twice I have been to End Dive and sat in the rays of the sun that gleam through wide windows, brightening the cozy bar and resplendent ceiling, and illuminating the truth: that dishes and drinks at End Dive are not just special, they are transient singularities that must be tasted to be believed.

The chatter and laughter of friends and surrounding patrons vibrates the air and my table, sending reverberations through my drink and up my arm, colliding in my brain with the explosion of rainbow flavors from the Lebanese squash; the distinguished smoked cauliflower; and the inevitable and unparalleled pasta.

I look at the surface of my drink, coated with squid ink Riesling, and smile at the dark, shimmering black. This is life, this is living - this is End Dive.“

“I ordered the catch of the day meal and it was amazing! Everything on the plate was delicious! The portions were generous as well considering the very reasonable price. The patio had a nice vibe too, unfortunately, it was pouring rain so I couldn't sit there, but they went the extra mile to seat me at the counter near the take out window so I could stay dry and have a minute's respite from the rain. The next time I'm in Victoria, I'll definitely be back!“

“From the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave, the professional and attentive staff take care of every detail. Restaurant is large - it has great ambience, the layout provides a personal and intimate feeling despite there being many tables. The food is superb, we plan on returning to make our way through the great menu. It is the best place we have eaten at in Canada for food, service and ambience. We highly recommend the seafood tower as a way to taste through some of the menu. The grilled octopus rivalled what we have eaten in Italy. The pork belly was cooked to perfection. The wine list is extensive and expertly curated.“

“I dined in with a friend. I ordered the pork fried rice and mapu tofu, absolutely delicious! The staff were friendly, the food came out fast, the waiter refilled our waters and tea pot regularly. The waiter was amazing, he asked for the preferred spice level of the mapu tofu and when I blanked, he recommended medium spice and it was perfect! My only issue was the bathroom that probably could use a little renovating, but overall very positive experience.“

“The steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavour. The harbour-view setting made the evening feel special and memorable. Our server was attentive and friendly the entire time. The sides and appetizers complemented the meal beautifully. It’s the perfect spot for a date night or celebration — highly recommend The Keg in Victoria!“

“My husband and I had breakfast here as we were staying at the hotel. It's a beautiful space with lovely views of downtown Victoria. My husband had the short rib hash and he enjoyed it very much. I had the yogurt parfait. It was okay. The homemade granola lacked flavor and depth. The fruit was hard and not ripe at all, it also had very little flavor. All in all it was bland. I did ask for some cinnamon to sprinkle on top and that helped a bit.“

“Celebrated my husband's birthday. It is a quaint restaurant with homey feeling. our waitress was attentive although she was busy with multiple tables. We met Bob who has been working at restaurant for 47 years since it opened. we would dine here again.“

“Our chef (red coloured hat/ascot in the photos) was a REMARKABLE addition to our evening. He knocked it out of the park with the banter. I will definitely be saying this with certainty: Ever single person at a restaurant has an even higher bar to stand next to now that I know hospitality isn’t actually dead. “I'm giving this place 5 stars even though I rate the food at a 4, because of what role this place is trying to fulfill it does a good job at - a counter service Japanese food place. I think a lot of people coming here expect standard sit down dining style sushi and food and are disappointed with that. This place is meant to get something at the counter, then either sit and eat or take it to go.
The food is good, not amazing, but VERY good value for the price and quick service. For example, a teriyaki chicken bowl that will fill you right up is $8 and ready in 5 minutes. You're not going to get that anywhere else around here, and it tastes just fine.
You're not coming here for high end sushi dining, you're coming here for basic but good food at a decent price.“
