“From the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave, the professional and attentive staff take care of every detail. Restaurant is large - it has great ambience, the layout provides a personal and intimate feeling despite there being many tables. The food is superb, we plan on returning to make our way through the great menu. It is the best place we have eaten at in Canada for food, service and ambience. We highly recommend the seafood tower as a way to taste through some of the menu. The grilled octopus rivalled what we have eaten in Italy. The pork belly was cooked to perfection. The wine list is extensive and expertly curated.“

The rolls are very fresh and flavorful, never overly padded with rice, and garnished with real veg instead of plastic. Lots of vegan options, including hot. “Great spot. Close to campus. Reasonably priced. The green salad came with black sesame sauce which was both delicious and unique. All the sushi rolls were good. We came for lunch and had the sashimi, nigiri, and beef teriyaki bento boxes. They were all fantastic. The side of tempura had a broccoli tempura - which is rare. The colour and crispness of the tempura was light and clean - indicating that the oil they used must have been a good quality and relatively “fresh”.

We would definitely come back again.“

“Some of the best sushi I've had. We sat at the bar and the environment was very cozy. We were right in front of the gentleman who made our sushi and you can tell he was caring and paying attention to our order and needs as much as the wait staff.

Highly recommend the softshell crab tempura roll and the butter fish Nagiri! Probably the only restaurant we ate at in our Victoria trip that we would look to come back to if we visited again. 10 out of 10 atmosphere!“

“Sakura is a great spot with a wide variety of takeout bento boxes. Perfect for a quick and tasty meal. The staff are super friendly and adorable, making the experience even better.

Besides bento boxes and don (rice bowls), they also have a fantastic selection of Japanese groceries, including different types of rice and a surprising find—mentaiko!!!!!

“Great place to just grab lunch and relax in a down-to-Earth sort of vibe. Straight-forward, tasty food. Sometimes I ask for half a scoop of teriyaki sauce since in can be taste too sweet and overpowering if I eat here often. Not as budget-friendly as McDonald's, but great value nonetheless if you prefer regularly having Japanese food over McD. Wish there more more cheap, practical places like this to get ethnic foods in general.“
