“From the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave, the professional and attentive staff take care of every detail. Restaurant is large - it has great ambience, the layout provides a personal and intimate feeling despite there being many tables. The food is superb, we plan on returning to make our way through the great menu. It is the best place we have eaten at in Canada for food, service and ambience. We highly recommend the seafood tower as a way to taste through some of the menu. The grilled octopus rivalled what we have eaten in Italy. The pork belly was cooked to perfection. The wine list is extensive and expertly curated.“

A good selection of fresh fish, the ratio rice/fish is perfect compared to other sushi places in Victoria and the chef added a bit of citrus on some nigiri that are fattier and some nigiri are blowtorch to enhance the flavor which shows his skills and knowledge. Love the mix of tempura and fried shallots for the crispy salmon roll. I would definitely recommend to try them out! Their prices are very reasonable considering the quality. Definitely my go to place for sushi now.“

“Hands down my favourite sushi joint here now (and Victoria has lots of great sushi). The rolls are very fresh and flavorful, never overly padded with rice, and garnished with real veg instead of plastic. Lots of vegan options, including hot. “What a great little place for take out sushi. Fresh, generous portions, and fair price. Everything is made to order and very fast. It's so evident that they care so much about the quality of their food.

Sashimi sizes were larger and very fair price for what you get.

We got salmon and tuna sashimi, spicy salmon roll, and California roll. Everything was tasty and perfectly made. Rice was perfectly bound together but not pressed too hard - just right. Spicy salmon sashimi sauce was just right and they were not drenched.

Restaurant is very clean and service was welcoming.

“Some of the best sushi I've had. We sat at the bar and the environment was very cozy. We were right in front of the gentleman who made our sushi and you can tell he was caring and paying attention to our order and needs as much as the wait staff.

Highly recommend the softshell crab tempura roll and the butter fish Nagiri! Probably the only restaurant we ate at in our Victoria trip that we would look to come back to if we visited again. 10 out of 10 atmosphere!“

“I'm giving this place 5 stars even though I rate the food at a 4, because of what role this place is trying to fulfill it does a good job at - a counter service Japanese food place. I think a lot of people coming here expect standard sit down dining style sushi and food and are disappointed with that. This place is meant to get something at the counter, then either sit and eat or take it to go.
The food is good, not amazing, but VERY good value for the price and quick service. For example, a teriyaki chicken bowl that will fill you right up is $8 and ready in 5 minutes. You're not going to get that anywhere else around here, and it tastes just fine.
You're not coming here for high end sushi dining, you're coming here for basic but good food at a decent price.“

“Sakura is a great spot with a wide variety of takeout bento boxes. Perfect for a quick and tasty meal. The staff are super friendly and adorable, making the experience even better.

Besides bento boxes and don (rice bowls), they also have a fantastic selection of Japanese groceries, including different types of rice and a surprising find—mentaiko!!!!!
