Barra 41 is the bar attached to Minerva's Greek restaurant (which has been around forever) and serves the same great quality food from it's kitchen. All the food & beer on tap is good, and you can also order from the restaurant menu. The atmosphere & service of this bar takes Barra the next levrl. Highly recommended and worth the trip to karisdale. Happy hour specials are offered daily from 3 - 5 PM.“

“Stopped by for lunch on a Thursday to enjoy the beautiful summer weather on their rooftop patio. The ambiance was absolutely gorgeous! I was so surprised at how crowded it got up there by 12:30pm. It seems this is a popular place for lunch for all the corporate employees working nearby!

The ambiance was definitely my favorite part. Aside from that the food was *pretty* good and the service was also *pretty* good.

The app we ordered (hamachi crudo) was recommended by our server and it was the perfect cold and fresh summer dish. I also ordered a salad with a side of salmon. I almost laughed at the small little piece of salmon that came on a little appetizer plate. I was expecting an entire dinner portion but…it was funny to see. The salmon was cooked and seasoned very well though so no complaints there.

I also tried the Australian Ribeye which I thought was great. Good cook and juicy from all the fat.

Service was slow, despite the restaurant being mostly empty when we got there (11:30am). Our lunch ended up being 90min+ long despite our best efforts to hurry and asking the server to bring everything out at once. Don’t expect a quick bite if you’re stopping by during your lunch break!“

“We visited The Magnet on West Pender in Vancouver last night. It's owned by the same folks that run Brassneck Brewery (on Main, very decent beers) and the Alibi Room (on Alexander, great beer list, best veggie burger in town, great location). We've heard good things from friends and checked it out for their beer list which is vast and great choices (only BC beers these days as everywhere but excellent selection). They have slow pours for some of the pilsners and a side pull for others for a denser, creamier foam. Staff is very knowledgable about the beers and about the short but mighty natural wine list as well. The real surprise for us was the food though. We had heard good things about their pies (English Pork Pie, daily choices) and charcuterie board but as vegetarians we opted for the Grilled Carrots with Spiced Orange Glaze, Chana Dal, Spinach, Cilantro & Cashew Lemon Cream, served with Fried Flat Bread and the Whipped Feta & Olive Dip, Grilled Zucchini, Warm Balsamic Shallot Dressing & Housemade Olive Focaccia. We were majorly impressed by the presentation and taste of both. The warm balsamic shallot dressing was divine. SO GOOD. Everything fresh, on point and so delish. Highly recommend checking this place out when you are in downtown Vancouver.“

We had a bit of a hiccup with our reservation. My friend initially booked for 4, then called and emailed to change it to 6. They assured us it would be fine, though a bit tight. Unfortunately, it seems this wasn’t communicated to the restaurant. When we arrived, the table was clearly meant for 4. The three of us had to squeeze tightly on one side, and an extra chair was placed at the end of the table, right near the door and coat rack, which wasn’t ideal.

That said, the food more than made up for it! Everything we ordered was delicious. As an appetizer, the arancini was fantastic, though slightly bitter. The Parker House rolls were outstanding. For the mains, we all tried each other’s dishes, and the unanimous favorite was the beef cheeks—absolutely tender and flavorful. I had the cacio e pepe, and as a Brazilian, I thought I’d miss having protein, but it was perfect and so satisfying.

For dessert, we ordered three different ones to share, and while they were all great, the standout was the amaretto semifreddo.

Despite the table mix-up, the food and service were amazing, and I’d definitely come back, when I can $$ lol (be prepared)

Parking: Be aware that the parking lot (in front) door close automatically at 10 PM sharp. We were just a minute later leaving and were almost locked inside!“
