“At Chicko Chicken in Capilano, biting into their fried chicken is like experiencing a culinary fireworks show—each crunch explodes with flavor, sending your taste buds into a celebratory dance. The golden-brown coating is crispy and light, almost like a delicate armor, encasing the tender meat within. It’s a symphony of textures: the satisfying crackle of the crust giving way to the succulent, juicy interior, which seems to melt in your mouth like butter on a hot skillet.
The seasoning, with its perfect balance of savory spices, is the real hero of the dish. Each piece is marinated to perfection, allowing the flavors to infuse the chicken deeply, creating layers of taste that build with every bite. It's like unwrapping a gift where each bite reveals a new and delicious surprise—sweet, salty, and a subtle heat that lingers just enough to keep you wanting more.
Pair it with their homemade sauces, and you have a match made in heaven. Whether you go for the tangy, finger-licking goodness of their soy garlic or the spicy kick of the hot and sweet option, the sauces coat the chicken like a vibrant, flavorful glaze, making the experience even more indulgent. Chicko Chicken's fried chicken is not just food—it’s a masterpiece in fried form, showcasing how something so simple can be elevated to an unforgettable treat that you'll crave long after the last bite.“

“This is a fantastic spot for authentic Korean fried chicken! The chicken is always perfectly crunchy on the outside and incredibly juicy inside. I highly recommend trying the Snowing Cheese—it's a game-changer with its savory, slightly sweet powder coating. Service is fast and friendly, and it's a great casual place for a quick meal or a group hangout. If you're craving some quality K-F.C., this location delivers!“

“Delicious and simple stone bowl bibimbap and Korean fried chicken, and with tremendously friendly service. An absolute pleasure to visit, I In an excellent food court that I would never have found if not for Google Maps. Really cute and felt like a hidden secret, and made me feel like a tourist in my own city. An excellent lunch stop.“

“Wow the boneless original chicken was just so juicy and light batter, seasoned nicely, so fresh, and easy to eat! The spicy chicken was fairly mild… not quite like buldak spicy… maybe more yangnyeom level… not too spicy or too sweet. Both were sooooo very good. The side dish of pickled daikon cubes was also very tasty. Fully recommend! Also, they have 10% off during happy hour on Monday-Thursday! Would definitely order from them again!“

“Sooo delicious and wonderfully made. You will be surprised by the portions and variety on the menue. Never seen a place with such a good value for the price you pay. My wife and I eat two whole meals with icecream and drinks for around $25. It is amazing.“

“Joon’s Kitchen is a hidden gem! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every dish we tried had that perfect balance of taste and presentation, showing real care and passion in the cooking.
On top of the great food, the service was warm, attentive, and genuine. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and their hospitality added so much to the experience.
Whether you’re stopping by for a casual meal or a special gathering, Joon’s Kitchen is the kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again. Highly recommended!“

“One of the best Korean spots in town! Their seafood pancake is hands down my favorite — super crispy on the outside, loaded with seafood, and just so tasty.
The Makgeolli Jogae Jjim is a must-try too. If you’re into clams, you’ll love this one!
Also, don’t skip the Spicy Seafood Stew — rich soup base, big portions, and perfect for sharing. Overall, a great place to chill and eat good food with friends or family.“

“Second visit here. Was craving some homey food, with the intent to get the seafood tofu soup.
Saw the beef tofu soup being labelled as recommended, but stuck to my intentions and was really happy I had my seafood tofu soup :).
Both visits service was friendly. Quiet area but they open late. Off school season so maybe that’s why it was less busy but I’ll definitely
Be back again and maybe try the chicken.“

“We came on a Saturday at 5:15 as we had reservations. We ordered the BBQ eel sot bap ($21.95) and the abalone sot bap ($22.95). They each come with a seaweed soup and a soft poached egg. The side dishes are also available for refill.
The side dishes were okay. Nothing to write home about.
The sot baps were both really delicious. We preferred the abalone one over the BBQ eel one. The abalone was nice and soft not chewy at all. It went well with the egg and the fragrance of the rice. The unagi wasn't too sweet. I liked the crispiness on the bottom of the rice.
Overall a satisfying meal. I would come back to try the kalbi“

“Waited 15 minutes for our chicken and it was made fresh. It comes with radish
Honey garlic boneless ($13.95) - honey flavour was really strong I wished the garlic flavour was a bit stronger
Sweet spicy with bone ($15.50) - not spicy at all! Needed to be much spicier. I enjoyed the sweet spicy more than the boneless.
All their fried chicken comes with tteok (rice cake) which was delicious.
Their batter is different from the other chains in Vancouver. It's lighter and a different kind of crispy. The other ones are a bit more crunchy
Overall I would get it again“

“Assorted kimchi/vegetarian mandu :) very cute to eat. There is usually plenty of space to sit inside the Student Nest, which is also regularly cleaned. However, the container did not really help to keep the food warm. The one-use materials involved, like soy packets and aluminum foil, were also disappointing. Thankfully, the “box” was biodegradable!“

“We stumbled to this restaurant; after making a visit to a store nearby; because it was close to 8 pm and we were starving!
We were greeted promptly and advised that there is a short wait. After 5 minutes we were seated quickly.
We were seated at the far corner so had to wave down staff at each request but we didnt think it was an issue.
We had a bimbimbop, spicy pork, beef bone soup and takowasabi. We ate everything and hope to be back soon.
Our only issue was the noise level was at times unbearable likely because we sat next to a small table of people whose voice would be considered yelling to most.“

“I’m traveling right now, and during my trip to Toronto and Vancouver, it’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed real decent Korean food this much. Even though it’s far, this is definitely a place I want to come back to.
The chestnut-flavored makgeolli, soju, sundae soup, seafood pancake, and makchang sundae were all delicious. Thank you for making it so comfortable and enjoyable for me to dine here.
Emma’s service was amazing as well, and I truly appreciate all the little things you did to take care of me.
I hope to see you again next time. ^^*“

“I am no stranger to Korean fried chicken. This ranks in my top 10. They do there’s skin on boneless style, which most don’t. This makes for phenomenal texture and taste. It’s a tad salty but who cares. Recommend sauce on the side for full crisp experience.“

“I usually come when it’s pretty empty. The cutlets are incredibly generous, and the little salad and veg sides are nice. Combined with the seemingly endless miso you will not leave hungry. So far every time I’ve come they include a little extra treat. I’m not sure if that is standard or what, but it’s a nice touch.“

“One of the most delicious authentic Korean chickens I have ever tasted here in Canada. The taste was the same as what I had back in South Korea. I understand it was a busy time with lots and lots of orders. At the end, the food was good. Loved it“

“We just found Sumi last month and we have already been here 3 times. It’s so good that we keep coming back!!😆😆 very authentic Korean food, I love their Jjang bang so much. I saw a lot of people ordering seafood pancake, it is huge but kinda flaky in my opinion, I will recommend their Korean Fried Chicken more! Very big portions, you can take home and continue eating it for next meal😆
So far we have tried seafood tofu soup, bimbimbap, bulgogi, and noodles, they are all delicious!“

“Serving is HUGE and yum yum! The photo below was taken after I ate. This order is L6 on the lunch menu, about $25 and it would serve 2 people as you can see with the amount of food left. I am writing this review with a full stomach and what seems to be one more serving of food! The tangsuyuk and fried rice taste really good and they serve it hot. The place is nice as well especially the patio. Even if you dine outside, the staff will still check on you regularly. Highly recommended!💜💜💜“

“I love coming here and love the consistency of their chicken, except when they changed it recently. I gope they bring back the original recipe, i find that the new batter (change of cornstarch?) made everything taste and feel different. Would love to keep coming back. The salad is the best too!“

“Got a half-and-half chicken for takeout for a picnic! It was ready just 10 minutes after ordering. We chose the original and soy garlic boneless options. The original was juicy and quite good, while the soy garlic also had good flavor, though the surface was a bit overly sticky—almost like candy. The half-and-half was just about enough for two people, and overall, I enjoyed the takeout experience here. Not sure if I’d dine in though—the space looked a bit cramped.“

“We ordered the soft tofu soup and deep-fried soy garlic chicken. The tofu was silky and flavorful, generously filled with seafood. I initially worried it wouldn’t be filling, but it proved satisfying. The fried chicken was exceptionally juicy and tender. I highly recommend this restaurant—the current rating doesn’t reflect its quality. It deserves to be closer to a perfect five. Give it a try; you won’t regret it.“

“Been going here for quite a while, probably since it opened. Probably one of the best places in Vancouver to get quick and easy Korean fried chicken. Huge fan of the daily special with rice and some of the signature sauce, but you also can't go wrong with any of the combos either. Staff here are all incredibly kind and service is always quick. Highly recommend popping by if you're on Robson.“

“I ordered the curry chicken, and it was really good. It had a nice sweet ish flavour and was very well seasoned. Plus, the staff there were lovely. I also liked the restaurant, we were seated on the patio, and the decorations, news, and food brought me right back to Korea. Definitely coming back here next time I’m in the area!“

“Chosun Korean BBQ is a staple on Kingsway street. They offer tasty Korean food with good service. We ordered the medium set menu with hot pot. They have a variety of side dishes that are free to refill, and they have a button you can press for service. The location is a bit small, so you're likely going to wait even if you show up on time. Overall a nice experience for some Korean BBQ.“

“Very hongdae vibe just like you would see in a K drama. There is a min order of 2 for the BBQ (its a 2ppl serving ea) so make sure ti bring your friends along and they are giving away either Kimchi soup, Cold noodle or Ram-don for 2 orders so its a W.
Service is slow during busy time which is understandable but all staff is very nice.“
