Service was incredible and while we did wait a little more than we thought for our drinks, they were super busy so it was understandable. I would definitely come back here and plan to soon!“

“85C always hits! Great selection of bread, decent drinks, and our cashier was super patient with us as it took us a while to sign up for the 85C app to redeem our points.

Parking is easy at the adjacent garage and the entire establishment was spacious. There were only a few tables/ chairs so I can see it getting crowded very fast, though most customers get their drinks/ buns to go.“

“All the staff we encountered was friendly, sweet, and highly professional, except for the first woman we interacted with behind the counter. She looked right through us as if we weren’t there and when we asked a direct question about ingredients she pulled a face as if she was irritated to have to answer. She handed us cold food to go when we planned to dine in. When we clarified, again she was rude. Her and her attitude is the only reason I would hesitate to return - oh, and the fact I was handed a dirty coffee cup, looked like it hadn’t been checked after removal from the dishwashing machine. However, the cashier was super helpful, and everyone that came out to check on us was charming and professional; THE FOOD WAS AMAZING, the location was refreshing, parking on the street was serviceable, the seating was plentiful, other customers were fun, and the vibe was chill.“

“What an absolute gem of a find! I visited for the first time today—and to my absolute delight, just five minutes from my home, I found a real maritozzo con panna that transported me straight back to Rome! You have no idea how happy this made me.
If I could, I’d give it a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars! If I may humbly offer one tiny, respectful suggestion from a passionate Roman heart: try making the cream (la panna) completely unsweetened. In Rome, we keep the whipped cream unsweetened because the light dusting of powdered sugar on top and the soft, sweet brioche bun already provide the perfect amount of sweetness.
At first glance, unsweetened cream might feel like it's missing something, but I promise you, it creates such a delicious balance that people will end up ordering two! Back home, I can easily polish off two in one sitting, whereas here I was full after one just from the extra sugar rush. (And you will save money on the sugar saved !)
Thank you for making such a wonderful place and bringing a taste of Italy so close to home. I can't wait to come back!“

“Wow. I was searching for goodies for a loved one with digestive sensitivities and found myself at Yvonne's Vegan Kitchen. We got to sample some cake and picked out a pre-made vanilla raspberry. A few minutes later, it was personalized. I decided to treat myself to a piece of ube loaf bread. I have tried many and this one finally did not disappoint. I was impressed. Worth the price of the years of hard work this bakery has put into specialty baking. 💜“

Other bakeries near the wedding venue were already closed and others needed at least 48 hour notice… the wedding was happening NOW. I called Sonora Bakery in my final desperate attempt, explained the situation, sent them a picture of the cake and within minutes, they got to work. The cake was delicious and the wedding was saved. My family and I have followed Chef & Owner Kei since it first started and only had regular priority mail delivery and pickup from a co-op location in Downtown LA. I stopped by after the Montrose Farmers Market, where Sugarbird was before and I believe still is for other Farmers Markets, and Kei herself was managing the store. She was nice and really excited to finally have her own storefront. I got a free tea, free clotted cream, the tea sandwich set, six scones (ube, lemon blueberry, matcha, fig & rosemary, passionfruit & earl grey) and shortbread cookies.“

Today’s pilgrimage finds me in Sierra Madre at Syndicate, a fantastic find nestled comfortably downtown on Sierra Madre Blvd. Plenty of street parking and a beautiful place to take a stroll if you don’t score a spot immediately out front. The vibe is instantly welcoming, decor is colorfully minimalist, that’s probably not a thing, but it’s the best descriptor I have. The baristas are friendly, skilled and true devotees to all things coffee, even willing to share some potential sites to visit on the next LAtte stop. The coffee itself is excellent, rich, flavorful and no hint of bitterness. I went with oat milk this time and it paired perfectly with the blend, rich creamy, delicious! I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit should you find yourself in the area, or even if your not- expand your horizons and make it a destination, it’s worth it.“
