“I previously thought the Mlle Colette in Palo Alto was perfection. As a reading cafe, a weekend morning at the Atherton location easily takes the cake. Seating is outdoors, but that's not a major limitation when we live with 3 seasons of summer. The caltrain rolls by occasionally, but instead of being grating, it's easy to romanticize in the midst of trees and birds and a clean, well-curated space. There was ample parking, too, for those who stress about such things. And of course, the cafe food is consistently buttery and delicious, if you're in that kind of mood.”

“In July of this year we celebrated our 60 th wedding anniversary by booking their side room.for a dinner party. Carlos , manager , was so helpful in planning menu and each guests could order thatvnite with everyone menu. We had choice of 2 salads, 5 entrees and 2 desserts. Our guests all raved about food and service. There was a table with appetizers for guests as they arrived and presented so nicely. Couldn’t have been happier and we were not charged for the room which several other places wanted to charge for just room. My daughter in law was able to go over that Saturday morning to decorate and put all flower arrangements in the tables. It looked amazing. Can’t say enough good things about the evening. Good service the best ‘”

“Some of the best California-omakaze style I’ve had. The fish quality is absolutely top notch. Some of the more creative “California” dishes are fantastic and some are a bit of a miss.

On one of my visits here there was a strong soapy detergent smell throughout the restaurant. This put a real damper on the experience.”

“We were visiting from Boston on a family trip and stopped by this restaurant on July 2. The food was absolutely delicious(my top pick is black king but sides are also good, chicken and dumplings), but what made our visit truly unforgettable was the incredible hospitality from one of your staff members.

Unfortunately, we never got his name, but he was a Korean staff member. From the moment we were waiting in line, he noticed our 5yo drawing on the order sheet and kindly interacted with her. Throughout our meal, he kept checking on us and made our whole family feel so welcome.

Before we finished our meal, he came over to let us know that he was heading home for the day. Because of that, we never had the chance to properly thank him, which is something we’ve regretted ever since.

Our trip lasted two weeks, taking us all the way from San Diego to San Francisco, and we visited many wonderful restaurants along the way. Yet, almost a month later, our kids still talk about “the uncle” from this restaurant and keep asking when we can come back. That says more than any review ever could.

If we ever have the opportunity, we’d love to come back just to thank him in person. And if by any chance you’re reading this review—thank you for making our family trip so special. Your kindness left a lasting memory for all of us.

“She is wonderful to work with. I have used her twice now. Once for a Mickey Mouse Twoodles cake and just recently for a baby shower. We got lemon for the cake and snickerdoodle for the cupcakes and when I tell you everyone loved them both. Her cakes are delicious and she does and amazing job with decorating them you send her a picture of what you want and she will not disappoint.”

“An exceptional culinary experience at Protégé in Palo Alto. Every dish showcased masterful technique and impeccable flavors. The A5 Japanese Wagyu Ribeye was perfectly marbled and melted effortlessly, while the Crab and Caviar delivered a luxurious balance of brine and sweetness. The lobster toast was crisp, buttery, and indulgent, and the Black Bass—flawless in execution—was the best I’ve encountered. The Ricotta Dumplings , delicate yet deeply flavorful, rounded out an unforgettable meal. The shigoku oysters with whipped ponzu were indescribably fresh and flavorful. The sunflower Caesar, with its preserved tomato jam, was a unique and unforgettable twist on a classic. As for the brick chicken that we took to go, it was so delicious that it barely made it home before being devoured. “First time here - my friend and I met in the area and decided to enter out of whim (we drove in 2hrs+ and Redwood is our meeting place). I had Matcha Hojicha latte and it's GOOD!! I was pleasantly surprised! I was able to adjust sweetness & ice, and dairy option available. Their drinks are crafted drinks and mine has many layered to it. I like that they used the matcha as a foam/topper. This is my new fave place. Too bad we don't have one in the area. @ Tong Sui - please open one in Livermore/Tracy/Brentwood area. This place doesn't accept cash but has online order and store pick up or use their kiosk. Tap pay or swipe are available here as well.”

“I found this bakery when I was looking for a place to purchase alfajores and I was so happy to have found it! I was greeted as soon as I walked in and my first visit was nothing but a very nice experience. Two young men behind the counter seemed really friendly and helpful. “Delicious and wonderful as has always been! Loved the watermelon salad and the lamb skewers. Pan-fried cheese, might have benefitted a clearer description as was thinking it was more like a halloumi but of course, is my ignorance but perhaps others would be, also. Calamari delicious. Baklava was outstanding, also. Cannot wait to go back, again!”

“Visited for their weekend brunch and had the brunch special thali, channa bhature, and the Chef’s Choice mixed tandoori platter.
The channa bhature was definitely our favorite. the bhature was fresh and fluffy, and the channa was full of flavor without being too heavy.

The brunch special thali was also a great way to try a variety of dishes, with generous portions and well-balanced flavors.

Ended with masala tea in very elegant style and dessert which was just fine for me.

The ambiance was elegant and comfortable, and the service was warm and attentive throughout our visit. It’s also a plus that they serve halal food. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely come back.”
