“Kikyo Sushi and Sake Bar is a great place to eat some great food. Their handrolled sushi rolls are lit!

We had a California Roll and a rock shrimp roll, and they were perfectly delicious. The rice was plump, with a slight bite with the perfect amount of filling.

A must try is their spicy garlic edamame. Man, they are so flavorful with the right spiciness. You'll be asking for seconds.

The reason for a 4 rating is that the bulgogi beef was a bit dry. It fell a little short in flavor and its traditional sweetness.

They have a great 5 dollar "thirst-quenching" draft beer that goes perfectly with your meal of choice.

Will I be back...YES! In a heartbeat and you should too, when you're in the area.“

“My new favorite sushi spot in Long Beach. Omg - once, they had some uni from Japan (not Santa Barbara, like most uni here) that was unREAL. I’d advise getting some of the regular sushi/sashimi and not just rolls. Their ramen is bomb, too. As are their appetizers. We usually get the spicy edamame. The owner is a gem, too. Really nice lady who remembers her customers, which always feels nice.“

They had this toast with avocado, onions and tomatoes 10 out of 10 I even tried their breakfast udon and the broth was so delicious. I even got into their onigiri and I tried their California their crunch the tuna and the salmon, and they were all so flavorful. “The staff are friendly. We enjoyed the Kitchen boat. The garlic fried rice with chicken was very good and tasted similar to hibachi fried rice. Brought my young nephews and they enjoyed the beef and chicken teriyaki. Will definitely come again and will try other sushi and noodles dishes.“

While they may not offer as many fish varieties as other places, the ones they do have are all fresh and satisfying.

For a small, mom-and-pop restaurant, I'm glad there's a place like this close to home and affordable. The service is good. I've visited many times and the owner is a man of few words. The other staff have been nice as well.

“We get lunch or dinner at Maruichi AT LEAST twice a week! The karaage and different types of musubi are really, really good. They sometimes run out of the karaage, so that tells you how much people like it. The karaage is marinated well and cooked perfectly. It's a bummer when they run out of the karaage because the options around just can't compare. Give them around 30 minutes to fry the chicken because it's made to order. You won't be disappointed... Speaking of which, I'm going to order some now. For the musubi, I highly recommend the tuna and kurobota (sausage) -- the sausage musubi comes with the perfect amount of wasabi. “What is Sushi hama based upon a recommendation from a friend. I ordered the omakase dish and it had a selection of sushi which we're all fresh and delicious.

My combination also came with some fried tempera, and that was delicious as well.

“This place did not appear automatically on Google Maps and we just saw it in the area. But so glad we did! Got the donkatsu (Donkkaseu) combo with soba. Portions were pleasantly larger than expected and we felt contently full afterwards. The katsu was fried perfectly and had a nice crunch! The donkatsu had lots of meat, and there were also side dishes that came with the meal!

I also like how there isn't a need for waiters here. They have a tablet at each table where you place an order of the items you want and they bring it to you (and rather quickly too). You don't pay on the tablet so it's more like your adding requests for items you want in real time and they bring it to you.
It's nice and peaceful inside and it made it easy to relax as I ate a meal by myself.“

“Had a great experience here. Got pot stickers and the mild beef ramen and it was so good. If I lived closer I’d come more often. I think I spent around $20 for my meal. The workers were so nice and the one guy was asking every single person that came to the counter if they were okay/ if they enjoyed their food which I thought was very sweet. “I had came here for some to go terriyaki chicken before but this time was the first time eating at the restaurant.

It’s a cute little Japanese restaurant with a variety of options from rolls, sushi, warm plates/bento boxes.
I have definitely not explored a lot, but what we got was great.

We tried chicken gyozas, which were okay. We also tried the shrimp eggroll recommended by the owner as she told us the filling was made in house, which was good!
For the plates, I got the sesame chicken as I wanted to change from terriyaki. It was really good. Filling with the rice and salad. The miso soup was actually really good!

Overall, it was a great experience. We got to talk a lot with the owner, and I learned a bit more about that place that has been around for 20 years!
So, my only advice is: support your local smaller businesses. They need it and you get to enjoy nice food!“

“My brother and I wanted to try a new ramen place and ended up here. The food itself was great as I got the bulduk ramen and tempura shrimp and my brother got the tonkatsu. It was all good until I wanted the check. We sat for 30 minutes waiting for a check. The front of staff was more concerned with the group next to us or being idle. I have pressed to call for a server multiple times and hearing the ping letting them know a table needed help but I could not get their attention. I only got my check after the table next to us asked for a check when I told them I wanted a check. I partly blame the system for not properly letting the staff know since the ping only went off for a server request but also for how unattentive the staff is to some other guests. We were at the corner of the bar.“

“Small Japanese Teriyaki place. Food was good at a decent price. I had the Chicken Teriyaki and was delicious. Chicken was nicely cook and good size not thin like some teriyaki places. Portions were good but I did ask to only have a chicken and rice, no soybeans or ginger.

“Been looking for a place like this for a long time... finally found it.. Hidden little gem behind Subway! Great bento boxes that have meat teriyaki, California rolls and more!
For a first time I got the chicken teriyaki bowl because I don't really care for the veggies, but when you get the plate meals, you get a lot of salad with the meal! Their salad dressing looks like ranch dressing (in case you were curious). I have had both the chicken and beef but to me, the chicken is the best. The staff were all friendly and provided great customer service. Both interior and exterior are kept very clean and there's plenty of parking.“
