“Super fun lunch with a friend who introduced me to this restaurant in the Ranch 99 complex. We shared the salt and pepper tofu, Sichuan style twice cooked pork bacon, spicy garlic eggplant, crispy noodle chicken and pan fried chive turnover.Everything was super fresh and steaming hot. The tofu fried to perfection and soft & silky inside. We agreed to try item we had never had before and the twice cooked pork bacon and crispy noodle chicken were two of those items. The pork was very flavorful with the perfect heat level, and the crispy noodles under the layer of delicious chicken, mushrooms and fresh Vegis lent the perfect texture. The chive turnover was a fun dish. Our server, and everyone at the was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back. Two things to know, parking can be a challenge as it is a busy area (there are multiple restaurants and shops in the complex, plus Ranch 99) and if you pay in cash, you get a free mini ice cream.“

“Updated review after giving it a second try: this place is really good at providing a tasty, spicy, enjoyable noodle with a garlicky hint; some great meat options. Tried chicken and pork MoMo Noodles, and I would highly recommend (pork being 1a, chicken being 1b - it's pretty close).“

“I’ve been to a few Szechuan style places around the Bay, mostly in the South Bay like JX Cuisine, and this far surpasses them. Try the Cumin lamb, excellent smoky chili flavor. Spicy hot enough to feel it, and it won’t stop you from having a conversation. Tea was free for me at lunch on a Saturday.Truly five star atmosphere, the big wooden chairs are memorable, not like a typical dining hall.“

“A lot of these positive reviews seem to be from real gourmands, fans of specifically Yunnan-style cuisine, and people who recognize and appreciate the quality and authenticity of the food on offer here. Then there's me, who ordered from the part of the menu that is labeled "American" style. So I'm here to tell you that that part of the menu is amazing as well. Onion pancakes, fried rice, sesame chicken, and General Tso's: all absolutely delicious. Long reign Yunnan Style Rice Noodle! So glad this is nearby.“

“Ordered the GuiLin Noodles which is one of the only non-spicy options. The noodles were amazing and perfectly textured and the beef came right off the giant bone they gave. The taste was amazing and very tender. The soup was also really good but just a tad bit salty. The staff was very friendly as well. The only thing bad is that when I went to the back to use the restroom, I saw flies around the tub of noodles they had.“

“谢谢!Super yummy made fresh to order veggie dim sum options in the heart of Chinatown, veggie grub round here is far and few but this is worth a stop. I hauled the Vegetable and Shiitake Mushroom Bao's whilst on the move, great flavor but slightly pricey comparing to other joints in the area. It's certainly one of my new local go-to's, this place is a must as it offers incredible actual traditional Chinese treats at a great price.Support local businesses!“

“I ordered this dish through Fantuan Delivery for those seeking a flavorful and satisfying dry pot experience. I chose the Signature Dry Pot, featuring potato, cauliflower, celery, and soybean sprouts. My protein of choice was Griddle-cooked lamb, and the flavors were fantastic. The combination of medium spiciness and mala (numb and spicy) brought a perfect balance to the dish. The spice level was just right, and the numbing sensation added an exciting twist. The large pot size was ideal for sharing, making it a great option for group dining.“

“Having heard rave reviews about Wojia Hunan Cuisine, my anticipation was high as we ventured into this Berkeley staple. From the moment we started with their Glutinous Rice Balls, it was clear that Wojia was going to surpass every expectation. The rice balls were a delightful introduction, setting the stage for a culinary journey through Hunan cuisine. The Hot & Sour Soup followed, and it was nothing short of incredible. Its balance of flavors was a masterclass in how traditional elements can be executed to perfection. The soup had just the right kick and sourness, making it unforgettable and a must-try for anyone visiting. Our journey continued with the green beans and walnut shrimp, each dish showcasing the chef’s ability to highlight the natural flavors and textures of the ingredients. The green beans were cooked to perfection, maintaining their vibrant color and crispness, while the walnut shrimp was a heavenly mix of crunchy, sweet, and savory—a dish truly “out of this world.”The complimentary tea provided a soothing counterpoint to the rich flavors of the meal, demonstrating Wojia’s attention to detail and commitment to an authentic dining experience. Service was impressively quick, ensuring our meal progressed smoothly without any unnecessary waits. While the ambiance was just okay, lacking some of the flair one might expect, it did nothing to detract from the stellar quality of the food and the efficiency of the service.Wojia Hunan Cuisine is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Hunan in Berkeley. Each dish we tried was a testament to the skill and passion behind the scenes, making it clear why this spot comes so highly recommended. I look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu, confident that each visit will be as remarkable as the first.Kid-friendliness: The spice was a bit, but not overkill for our kids.“

Spicy Noodle with Pork

“I got the spicy noodles with tofu and chicken. The food was overall good, but everything was drenched in sauce, there wasn’t anything to cut into the oily sauce, so I could only eat so much. The texture was also one note, I wish there were crunchy elements in this dish, it’s supposed to have peanuts but I found only a couple pieces. I would suggest maybe adding bokchoy and more crunch toppings.“

“Happy to have vegan option in Union Square. Good service, very quick. I ordered flaming spicy tofu. It was not what I would consider flaming spicy ha! But it was fine. I enjoyed the crisp water chestnut. The meal was too big I could not finish it. I had to pay extra for rice. The plate seemed a bit overpriced to me. Gorgeous building and location, and lamp.“
