“Stopped by for a bite - located conveniently off the 101 and across the street from Anderson's Split pea this cute diner style restaurant has inside seating only- the dining room is decorated with vintage kitchen items from the 1950s and beyond. The wait staff is warm, kind and attentive. We had the club sandwich. It was huge! It comes with fries but I requested a side salad substitute and it was great- homemade croutons, veggies and the salad dressing tasted very fresh. The club sandwich was so huge I took half of it home. It is made the way I like it with lettuce inside each layer of sandwich. Hubby had French Toast made with cinnamon swirl bread. It was delicious and hubby wolfed it down. The portion was also large- maybe 3-4 slices of bread cut in half, dipped in egg, grilled and served hot. Prices were about $15-$20 Per person and parking was easy and plenitful. Only open for breakfast and lunch- they close at 2 PM so plan accordingly. Great place.“

Found this gem and was staying there a week and have to stay I love how it is located very conveniently off the 101 FWY, have lots of amenities on the property, and the staff go way above and beyond! Love also the fact that they have Sideways Lounge if you want to chill and have a brew as well and they have a nice food truck with homemade sausages. “We hadn't been here since pre-covid, so we were wondering how they'd survived and evolved. Pleased to say they were BETTER than before covid! EVERYTHING was top notch, from the cocktails, service, and all of the food! My whiskey sour and my girlfriend's greyhound cocktails (both up) were both awesome, and made with high quality mixers. I had the french onion soup appetizer, and it was rich and delicious! My 16 ounce prime rib was expensive at $72, but PERFECT in every way...in temperature, seasoning, and quality of cut. To be honest, I had a bit of sticker shock when I first saw the $72 price point, but they absolutely nailed it, so I can't really complain. They really delivered! My girlfriend had the fried chicken sandwich, and she's a bit of a fried chicken sandwich connoisseur, but she also said that they made it to perfection, and she was very happy with it. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the SYV!“

The Maker's Son American • $$
346 Bell St, Los Alamos - 10.3 miles

“I just had the most beautiful and perfect wedding at this venue! My husband and I were looking for something small and intimate and our family was hoping for something big and spacious so The Maker’s Son is where we met in the middle. The outside is just so beautiful and green and the indoor area is rustic and modern with its beautiful chandelier and farmhouse tables. I had the most amazing florist and family that helped pull a lot of it together but I know for a fact that Selena and her staff did everything else in between to make our special day perfect! I met with Selena on numerous occasions to get all of the small details sorted out and she did everything and more and exceeded all of my expectations. From helping get the wedding party organized to walk out, to communicating with the DJ and even making sure the venue next door didn’t bully us in to ending our event early! Selena and her staff is definitely who you want on your side, this woman does it all. I even at one point saw her behind the bar helping make drinks. Thank you so much to everyone at The Maker’s Son and especially to Selena! I know our big day only went smoothly because you took the lead!“

In particular, the cauliflower appetizer was outstanding. The service on this night was lacking. I wonder if our waiter was new. He was clearly not knowledgeable/confident in his description of the food when reviewing the menu and specials. Courses did not come out correctly spaced. When we asked for the check, the waiter had to come back to ask us which glasses of wine we had previously ordered. Overall, I would return.“

“Me my mom and my sister came up to solvang for work purposes but wanted to make the most of it because it was a long drive from the I.E.. We found this place and it looks like a whole in the wall but honestly was pretty decent. They have a lot for room. The food was AMAZING. We got the ranchero burger, a Cobb salad, and the ravioli with all 3 sauce choices and just decide to share amongst the 3 of us. It was so good the flavor and everything was so good. But let's talk about the service. Our server very much gave off the vibes like head rushing to order he came by probably about 3 times in like 8 minutes and we were trying to decide what to eat. Next there must have been a server off the clock eating at the restaurant before her shift, I have nothing against as I used to work at a restaurant and did that because it was convenient for me, but she was not only distracting servers from their tables but openly feeding her friends while they were working and it was obvious that their tables needed to be served but they didn't care. It wasn't until the manager walked out and said something did they finally get to work in which the employee who came to eat went behind the counter to clock in. The host were amazing and super nice. Over all it was really good and amazing and we would come here again“

From the inviting atmosphere to the delectable, indulgent food and welcoming staff, you'll love the sophisticated yet unpretentious vibe at The Victor. Highly recommend dining outdoors next to the fireplace if the weather permits. With every seat being quite cozy, you can't go wrong. I loved the fresh, raw oysters, and the tri tip was cooked to perfection. The bearnaise was buttery and herbaceous, pairing perfectly with the steak. Also had their Ahi Tostada with avocado and wasabi hash, definitely a shareable plate, really fresh and is a new favorite! Also one of our go to orders, is their focaccia and dipping oil, still as good and haven't changed through the years! Make sure to stop by this place!
