“I had to stop by Royal Donut Cafe because of all of the great reviews I saw on Yelp! And I must say that I wasn't disappointed at all! The staff was awesome! From the cashier, to the cooks, and the server. And I even got a chance to meet the owner, Terri, who has taken over the business for the past 15 years! Definitely going to be a regular here! I ordered the vegetarian omelet! 😋“

The Food
The menu is huge—they have everything from quick pastries to full sit-down meals like Eggs Benedict and French toast. Here’s the breakdown of what we tried:
• Eggs Benedict: Awesome! Perfectly cooked and really hit the spot.
• Chocolate French Toast: Fantastic. If you have a sweet tooth, this is a must-order.
• Strawberry Croissant: This was the only slight letdown. While it looked beautiful, it was a bit stale and lacked that fresh, buttery crispiness you want in a croissant.

The Experience
The system here is order and pay at the counter first, then they bring the food out to your table. They also have water carafes already on the tables for self-service, which I always appreciate. Even though it was busy, the service remained solid and friendly.

Parking & Tips
Since it’s right in the heart of downtown Burlingame, parking is all street parking. You might have to circle the block once or twice during peak morning hours, but it's worth it for the vibe.“

We ordered the frittata breakfast sandwich and added prosciutto. You HAVE to try it - adding the prosciutto is worth it I’m telling you!! It’s even better than it looks in the picture. Was a little noshy, Got tempted by the menu and ordered the breakfast burrito, friend ordered avocado toast. Food was super delicious and garnished nicely. Made friends w the enthusiastic and gregarious staff. Enjoyed everything about this place! all the small touches, the awesome art on the wall and the welcoming comfy atmosphere made it a great first impression. “I’m a huge fan of dirty chai lattes and I’m always searching for who has the best. The dirty chai at Antigua is definitely near the top of the list for me. Not too sweet and not too spicy which is the way I like them. Will def be back for the chai. Pastries were also delicious. Haven’t tried the food yet but looks like it would be amazing.“

“La Joya offers a truly unique flavor experience. The tortillas are made from corn, giving them that authentic, homemade touch. The meat is wonderfully seasoned, very tender, and absolutely delicious. I especially recommend the carne asada quesadillas they’re definitely the star of the show. In short, it’s an experience well worth trying.

“Great small family owned and run bagel cafe. The bagels are fresh as can be, have a large variety and are reasonably price. They are the best and freshest bagels on the Peninsula. My wife and I love the lox cream cheese combo bagel. They don’t skimp on cream cheese, unlike Noah’s, served warm with great smells of the topping. Very nice outdoor patio to enjoy your brunch. They also have a variety of meat bagel sandwiches to choose from Al top notch and carefully made.“

Loved the greeting with a smile that I received when I walked in by the young man behind the counter. he was totally surprised when I handed him an envelope and explained that I had missed the drop off date. “I have been here many times mainly when I am craving for a doughnut or when I am in the area where I am in need of a quick bite. They have a wide selection of fresh doughnuts made daily, sandwiches, coffee, refrigerated drinks and much more. The staffs here are very welcoming, well trained and understanding where I never had encountered an issue during any of my visits. You can dine in at one of their tables or simply purchase for takeout if you decide to. I have to say this place is a plus, because there are little to none doughnut shops within the area. I highly recommend this place to all doughnut enthusiasts, if you need a quick snack for the morning of if you just so happen to be in the area. “I got a Salame Sandwich and small Mexican hot chocolate which I thought was good. I think the sitting area is decent but small with mainly bar stools. Luckily, the place wasn't crowded so sitting on the round table in the middle didn't feel squishy“

“I really enjoyed my Friday morning visit around 10 a.m. There was about a 5-minute wait, a short line, and all the chairs were taken, lots of people standing around and the space was loud and crowded. I was meeting a friend, and even in the bustle we were able to have a wonderful conversation. By about 10:30, the crowd thinned out, and we found a table to enjoy not just our conversation but also some delicious coffee.

She ordered a flat white and loved it, saying it had a caramel-like taste. I had the Tahitian vanilla latte with oat milk (so good!) and an avocado toast. Next time, I’ll definitely order the avocado toast with an egg and try the miso latte the barista recommended.

I love the krispy texture outside and then the creaminess of the mixture inside, its just beautiful. And for those who don't like spice, this is the perfect amount of heat. Insane parking situation. Four spots right outside otherwise you have to make a 2 mile, 10 min detour/U-turn to the parking lot on Randolph Ave. No parking on a Tuesday afternoon so I imagine the weekends are even worse.“
