“Real, honest BBQ. I had the 2 meat combo with brisket, ribs, mac & cheese and potato salad. Best BBQ I have had since I was in Austin Texas! The owner was working hard with the rest of his employees and was the one to take my order. He seemed very nice and was helpful. I work within walking distance so I can see myself becoming a regular here. Canyons is an excellent addition to Castro Valley's food scene.“

“I visited this restaurant twice. It was so good I went back for seconds, lol. However, the second time I ordered a meat meal. The bbq Hawaiin chicken was so good both times, but the chicken Katsu lacked seasoning but was crunchy and hot. I loved the macaroni salad! I will still eat here, but I will order the bbq chicken

“The broth is satisfying, flavorful, and has just the right amount of numbing spice. I highly recommend the beef bone broth soup base with either medium or spicy heat. The Szechuan spicy base is good, too!

You can choose from various meats, seafood, veggies, and noodles. Pick whichever ingredients you want as long as it meets the minimum 0.8 lbs (they charge you by weight)“

“I ran across this place by accident. It is on 98th Ave., East Oakland.Some might not think the neighborhood is very nice, but there is parking and the barbecue was good for the most part. I did ask for my barbecue to be on my meat because it was very good dark, But they put it on the side instead. You have the choice of getting lunch or dinner. The dinner is gonna cost you a little bit more but it’s a lot of meat.The sauce was rich and seasoned just right I got the beans and the mac & cheese. I was told that the potato salad is actually very good. Traffic is swift , on the outside, looking in, you would never know that they have really good barbecue inside but the most part I’m pleased“

“Our family has known Peni, Sherry,there kids and grandkids for over 12 yrs now. Once I saw and smelled the bbq over 12 yrs ago I gravitated towards it and have been a huge fan since. Their island q is the best on the mainland and I recommend trying it all since I don’t have a favorite. You can see the passion and love that this family puts towards sharing a little bit of their heritage through their food with all of us. “Food here is so good and a decent price for plates (I think it was $15 for a 1 meat plate and $20 for 2 meats ). Parked right outside Planet Fitness so a perfect post gym meal. The ribs are very juicy and the BBQ sauce he makes is delicious! The baked beans always hit along with the potato salad. Only complaint is that the bread sometimes gets soggy from the items in the box but that can easily be fixed. Definitely one of my favorite quick BBQ spots and I highly recommend giving him a try!“

“I could not be more stoked about a restaurant than this one. This place has the best tandoori meats and today I got to try a pani puri too and man!!! did my taste buds transport to New Delhi days or what!!! I ordered a combo plate with lamb chops and lamb sheesh kabob. Perhaps the most tender and meatiest lamb chops ever and amazing value for money. The owner himself is vegetarian, yet seems to have perfected meat and veg tandoor dishes. this place is Magic!“

“I’m a vegetarian, so I can’t speak about the Q (the men in my house cried when the last wing was grabbed), but this banana pudding is so off the hook I want to cry!! So rich and creamy! I’ve eaten 1/2 of the very generous serving and I’m stuffed. I’m gunna power through it though, because I know if I save it, one of these boys will eat it!“

As always, she did a fantastic job when we arrived at 7:30 pm. She welcomed us warmly, despite the late hour. The ribs were delicious, although we would have preferred fewer toasted end pieces.
We come from Sunnyvale after our Sundays events.“

“It is so great to find that hayward finally has some good Chinese bbq! I no longer have to drive far when I crave for some roasted duck! And that was exactly what I ordered today. It is fresh with good flavor. You know it’s a legit Chinese roasted duck when you can taste the star anise! I will definitely return to try the other items! Pro tip - parking can be terrible, so just go further down the lot towards auto zone. There’s always plenty of parking there.“

“Amazing food!! Hands down the best toasts in the entire Bay Area and great coffee too! We ordered avocado toast and salmon toast - both were delicious, extremely fresh and great presentation! Delicious juice too, although the consistency was more of a lemonade, but nevertheless very refreshing and yummy. They also have mimosas and champagne-based coctails, along with berry oats, as an alternative to a toast in the morning - both of which are definitely on my list to try next.
