The Tofu Banh Mi Sandwich was excellent! Wonderful flavor, amazing texture, just the right amount of sauce and spices. I called in my order, and it was ready when I arrived in 10 minutes. Their service over the phone and in-person was engaging and courteous. The price was extremely reasonable. I also love that they charge less if you pay in cash – a great way to wean all of us off the credit card system.“

“We often bring out-of-towners here because it's hard to find Laotian food outside of the Bay and Vientian Cafe always delivers. The menu is super extensive and very reasonably priced, so you can try a bunch of new things each time. We always get the nam kao and the lao sausage (which you can also take home frozen). Angel wings are also super addictive.

Food also travels well if you're looking for takeout. One of our favorite spots in the east bay!“

The cuts of meat were these nice long strips, high quality.

I also got a banh xeo and that things was awesome. Whoever cooked it did so perfectly... nice crunch on the rim, juicy interior. The batter has coconut milk, so each bite is so flavorful. This was my favorite dish. Again, high quality meats and veggies, and huge! Good stuff. Also their coffee has a great condescended milk to coffee ratio, super sweet and rich yum“

Most recently, I ordered the pho ga (chicken pho) just as it is and it was flavorful, full of good size chicken pieces, ample noodles, and the broth was perfect. Toppings on the side were plentiful (basil, lemon, sprouts, etc.). I also ordered a soda chanh (lemon soda) and some spring rolls. Again, never an issue with the freshness or quantity provided. Just loved it and highly recommended you pay this restaurant a visit if you're in Union City and are seeking a wonderful Vietnamese restaurant. While I haven't tried the other meat/rice dishes they offer (since I typically only ordered pho), my other family members have and will attest that they are made well and are of sizeable portion. My husband, who isn't vegan, loves their non-vegan food. So this place is a good place to take people in your life who aren't vegan. It's very busy and noisy.
