“I haven't been to their store but I used to buy their cookies when they would sell them at Coffee and Water Lab. The ginger one was my favorite and I would always ask for it when I would go. I was sad to hear they weren't selling them there anymore, but so happy to hear they have a store now in Los Gatos! I will definitely be stopping by soon. Their cookies are delicious so I'm glad they have their own store now!“

4 Cake Mini Jellycat

“A very small Asian bakery, where Egg Head used to be.

The mochi ball puff is very delicious. The mochi ball has a slightly chewy texture and is filled with cream that is not too sweet.
It is very dense and delicious, especially the chocolate cream with rice crackers that enhance the taste.

The cake looks beautiful and is available in smaller sizes. I will try it next time.

The Meatfloss Mini Sponge also tastes great, salty and sweet, 100% Asian flavor ,lol“

“Beard Papa’s Cupertino – The Best Cream Puffs in the Bay Area

I have been visiting Beard Papa’s in Cupertino since they first opened, and it continues to be one of my favorite dessert spots in the South Bay. The cream puffs here showcase true Japanese artistry, with light, flaky shells and silky custard fillings that taste fresh and balanced. Since I prefer desserts that are not overly sweet, I usually stick with the classics, but I also appreciate how they offer creative seasonal shells and fillings to cater to different palates.

Every shell is baked fresh each morning, and each puff is filled to order, which makes all the difference in taste and texture. The store also offers a simple loyalty program tied to your phone number, plus a complimentary cream puff on your birthday with purchase. It is important to note that these cream puffs are best enjoyed the same day. After about 12 hours, the shell can lose its crispness and the flavor and texture shift, so keep that in mind if you plan to buy a half-dozen or a dozen at a discount.

Must-Try Desserts at Beard Papa’s Cupertino

Mini Puffs (6 pieces) ($7.35) – 4.8/5
Perfect for sharing, with a satisfying shell-to-cream ratio. I always choose the vanilla filling, which never disappoints.

Original Shell with Vanilla Filling ($4.40) – 5/5
The signature choice and my favorite. The puff has a golden, crunchy exterior with a soft croissant-like interior, and the vanilla custard has just the right level of creaminess and viscosity. A flawless pairing.

Original Shell with Green Tea Filling ($4.40) – 4/5
For green tea fans, this filling has a noticeable matcha flavor mixed with the vanilla cream. While it is refreshing, I personally prefer the classic vanilla, as the texture of the green tea version is thicker and richer.

Original Shell with Chocolate Filling ($4.40) – 3/5
The chocolate filling is bold in cacao flavor, but the texture is the thickest compared to the others, and it leaves the mouth a little dry. Worth trying if you love chocolate, though not my favorite.

Crème Brûlée with Vanilla Filling ($5.40) – 5/5
A delightful twist on a classic dessert. The caramelized top adds a delicate crunch that pairs beautifully with the creamy vanilla custard. I always grab one of these if they are available.

Chocolate Fondant ($4.90) – 2/5
This was a miss for me. The cake was dry and too rich in flavor. Beard Papa’s is best enjoyed for its cream puffs, and I recommend skipping the other baked goods.

Final Thoughts
Beard Papa’s in Cupertino remains a true gem for dessert lovers. While the ambiance of the shop feels a bit less polished than it once did, the quality of the cream puffs has never wavered. The fact that this location survived the pandemic speaks to the loyalty of its customers and the excellence of its products. If you are searching for the best cream puffs in Cupertino or the Bay Area, this is the place to go.“

“I have been using this store for a long long time, never expected a birthday cake stolen. I ordered the cake by phone on Wednesday and paid with credit card. I got a picture of the receipt. On Saturday I had my family to pick up the cake. He was told it’s already picked up by someone else. My family had to purchase another one (which was not the one I wanted) so we could have a birthday cake. It turned out someone stole the receipt from the store which I didn’t have to pick up the cake. When I told the store manager about it, she couldn’t give me the refund nor give me a cake because someone already picked it up. She would rather have her truthful customer take the lose. I was told this thing never happened. Well, if you don’t do something to prevent it from happening again, it will happen again since the thief didn’t have any consequences. Lock up your paid receipt please. Don’t leave it in a place that anyone who comes in can take a picture or steal the receipt. I suggest you don’t prepay your order. Your order can be stolen here. The store owner/manager gave me two piece of their pastries as an apology at the end. Thanks for that gesture but I wanted my cake! Sorry, you are losing at least one customer. I give three stars because they did pay effort to help me to find out what went wrong.Update: The store owner called me back after a day and admited they are responsible for this problem. She promised me a free cake next time with a condition that I buy some other products they make when I pick it up. Sure, no problem. I appreciate her reconsideration of this issue and trying to make her customer happy. I will go back to the store and continue to be their customer. I do wish this problem will never happen again to any of their customers. Changing the rating to 5 stars.“

“My favorites are Bomb bread, black sesame pastry, coconut raisin loaf, sweet green bean mug, taro cake and strawberry shortcake. My little girl is the big fans of the Nutella wheel cake, strawberry shortcake bread and cranberry loaf. My hubby likes the milk bread and Vietnamese sandwiches. The twins (fries and chicken) and shave ice are very good too. Owners and staff are very nice and helpful. I always call ahead to reserve my favorites. Excellent customer service, fresh and tasty food, reasonable price. Highly recommended! 😊“

“Really kind staff. Was in a hurry to purchase a cake for an event in 30 min, and staff immediately noticed, helping us finish the purchase within a few minutes of my mom & I walking in. Henry was very kind in speeding the purchase and recommended leaving a review; so very happy to :). In terms of atmosphere, everyone seemed to have a good time, whether eating with family, studying, spending with friends, etc. Moving to menu, large selection (including cakes) some of which are moderate sweetness that my mom & I enjoy. Cake chosen at time of visit was very popular at potluck we attended around 20 minutes after purchase.“
