“HK Garden has the best hot and sour soup, egg foo young, and potstickers in Dixon. I like their combo plates(specifically the general chicken) and their foil wrapper chicken, the food is always piping hot, fresh, and ready in less than 20 minutes. Much better quality ingredients and flavor profile than going to the chain restaurant down the road.“

“I've ordered food from here probably a dozen times; never eaten in but always to-go so I can't comment on the service.That said, the food is the best Chinese food I've ever had. The food is always ready when they say it will be. I'll keep going back.“

“Exemplary service showed by the staff.
I arrived at a busy time of service while traveling 2 hours west. The staff was kept busy by the rush of hungry patrons. They immediately greeted me as I walked through the door. After the line, I had to wait about 5 minutes at the counter due to the rush in service and the sheer load of orders placed between the drive thru, front counter and even DoorDash! The staff took very good care of me in my time waiting and assured me several times that I would be served as soon as they possibly could. For such a rush in service, they exceeded my expectations.
A week later, same ordeal, but service is slower. I just happened to come in when they ran out of what I wanted. The staff were very respectful and reassured me that I would be brought my food as soon as it was ready. As soon as my food was ready the young lady brought me my food posthaste. Even the young gentleman at the counter was kind enough to ask me if I wanted a gap in my watermelon mango drink for ice.
The staff service on these two separate visits was well beyond what I expected for two inopportune visits on my behalf and the atmosphere was completely comfortable and relaxing, and let’s not forget the food. The food was excellent and freshly made on both occasions.
The staff made this simple and ordinary experience into one that is unforgettable.

Side note: My fortune cookie told me I would have an unforgettable experience. I might start believing those little strips of paper more often.“

“My wife and I have ordered take-out twice, splitting an order of a General's Chicken the first time and Mongolian Beef the second time. The General's Chicken was wonderful - light, crispy with a delicious, slightly sweet-tart flavor. It was obviously freshly made. Our second order of Mongolian Beef was just the opposite. It was a stew-like meal that seemed to have been on the back-burner a while. Everything was limp and greasy. Very disappointing. We do plan to return, but will ask for a meal that is fresh.“

“Comes to eat really late today and most of restaurants are closed. I had a griddle cooked chicken and wonton soup, both of dishes are good. It’s nice to have spicy food also with some soup, the service is really awesome and she takes good care of me. Made my night, I will definitely come for late night food in the future. “The best Chinese food in Davis. Been here a few times and compared to the many other spots in town, this one is far ahead. Every dish has flavors. Our favorites are the eggplant and string beans, I’m not even an eggplant person but here it’s amazing. We also enjoy the chow mein with beef, it’s not your typical low-flavor chow mein, the noodles are nicely coated and the perfect brown and the little jalapeno pieces give it an extra kick. Last the fried egg with pork ribs, the fried egg sort of an omelet like egg but far more fried and filled with flavor. I’m personally not the type to order egg at any type of restaurant but here it’s a must, the ribs come in a little broth to compliment the ribs.

You know it’s authentic when the majority of its client base are international students and you’re not hearing much English being spoken lol.

“This restaurant has never disappointed us. But today they really outdid themselves with the ZHAJIANGMIAN soybean noodles. What a fantastic dish ….with different textures and flavors. It was very, very good. There were noodles , carrots, peanuts , and much more, or just the right crunch and flavor….. very very good! We also had a side of sautéed garlic, green beans, which had a great flavor and crunch as well.“

Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly restaurant. High chairs are available for babies. No booster seats for smaller kids. Most dishes are spicy, so may not be kid-friendly in that sense.“

“Delicious food and great food“

“found myself in downtown Davis and feeling a bit peckish so looking for a quick bite. There is a ton load of eateries to choose from all within a stone's throw from each other. So many choices. I landed at the Dumpling House. Me and this pls e go back a long way, all the way to when they first opened in 2010.

Not only do they have home made dumplings, they also have other menu items such as Asian: noodles, vegetable dishes, popcorn chicken, green onion pancakes, AND fish n chips with the customary sides. Lots of options. The business was a fish n chips shop before the current owners took ownership in 2010. Cool that they kept those items on the menu.

Even with the varied menu options, for me the main attraction is the dumplings. Pan fried, deep fried, or steamed. Variety of fillings. My fave is the steamed pork n chives. The density and the texture of the filling is spot on. The flavor is good. The green onion pancakes are also a fave of mine.

Orders are taken at the register in the building. Sit anywhere and they'll bring your food to you.There is indoor and outdoor seating. The interior is not particularly large. And the outdoor seating is picnic table style. It's a no frills kinda place.“

“Noodle House, as my family and I lovingly call it, is an icon in Davis. It's a little hole in the wall behind Sophia's Thai Bar that was referred to my husband and I 15 years ago. We walked in and almost left because it's small... and old... and a little sketchy? But we decided to give it a try anyway.
We have been coming regularly since then, and our family has grown, and grown up begging to go there for special occasions like getting good grades, etc. There is nothing we have had that isn't delicious.
I highly recommend the won ton noodle soup, pork chop noodle soup, szechuan eggplant with noodles, the potato curry with noodles, the 5 spice beef noodle soup, and the chow mein.
The noodles are homemade. The broths and sauces are unique, delicious, and literally award winning.
The service is fine. It's the same lady for the past several years. She's quick and efficient. Before that, I think it was her mom or aunt.
You won't regret trying it out - and if you do, you'll be back.“

“哇！This is some of the best Chinese food I have eaten in the Sacramento area; great new flavors that I didn't even know were originally Chinese. The waiter was nothing but kind was very considerate with my limited knowledge of Chinese cuisine, even recommending me some things on the menu and refiling my lemon tea when I ran out. 10/10 would recommend!“

“Quite impressive dinner menu. Recently remodeled in 2024/2025, this is not the Hunan of the past.

It's a solid, quality, authentic sichuan/hunan style restaurant with the quality dishes to match.

The whole fish boiling pot was the highlight. The entire fish (catfish) was fresh and went well with the veges and other items in it. When it says it is spicy- it's no joke! It has the famous sichuan peppercorn numbing spice.

Another standout was the 'squirrel' fish- it's hard to explain, but I took a picture and that was not spicy- but sweet and sour. It was amazing and my family said it was one of the best they ever had.

The other dishes are solid, and they have non-spicy dishes- but if you come to hunan-style restaurant you'll get the toothpick lamb, spicy pork dishes, dry style hotpot, etc. Everything is solid.

The vibe- vibe is good. Not a typical chinese restuarant. Had American museum vibes, Nora Jones playlist on repeat. But it works, and the past few times I was here, there were bunch of international asian students- which is a very good sign.

All in all, very quality- and highly recommend it for dinner. Lunch is solid too, but the portions are a little smaller. Dinner you pay more- but I feel like it's the better deal. Enjoy!!“

“We love this place. It has great Boba tea amongst the bao buns that are sooo good. The prices are really affordable, especially for the good quality in food and size if boba drinks.
The owner is very accommodating. Once a friend ordered the wrong drink and he took it back and remade it without issue.

Love that the woman on the phone was super patient and helpful when we weren't exactly sure how much to order and what some dishes included.She was super kind and offered suggestions even though they seemed busy (we orders on Lunar New Years Day. She never rushed nor acted rude and impatient like some places when you start asking "too many" questions.Food was good & just in the perfect time like they estimated. “The vegetarian menu is EXTRAORDINARY! I was ecstatic the first time I ate their vegetarian beef. I almost cried the first time I ate their vegetarian sweet and sour shrimp. A review below said the vegetarian dish had meat in it. No, it doesn't. It is just that good! I'm from out of town and I try to time my visits to eat and to take another entree home. I've never had such good Chinese vegetarian food!“

“Service definitely needs improvement. We were seen once! Pathetic.
Food needs improvement in choice and flavor. The coconut shrimp is overly battered with little sauce. The white fish was excellent. Get rid of one of the salad centers (you serve way too much jello) and serve more protein varieties.
Lastly, watch out for the ice cream machine...my wife ended up with ice milk. Nothing close to an edible cone. Ended with a bowl of semi-soft flavored milk.
