“Another fantastic addition to the Granite Bay dining scene! Tucked away in the former Peet’s Coffee plaza, this contemporary sushi spot is quickly becoming one of my new favorites.

The first thing I noticed was the quality and generosity of the food. Unlike many sushi restaurants, they don’t skimp on the fish or the rolls. Every dish was beautifully presented, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared.

The lobster tempura was perfectly seasoned with a light, crispy batter. The Liz Roll actually delivered on the spice (which is rare these days), and the sashimi was cut thick, buttery, and incredibly fresh. If you’re an oyster lover, don’t skip the fresh oysters—6 for $28 is a great deal. Their Happy Hour menu also offers plenty of delicious options, making it easy to sample a variety of dishes without breaking the bank.

Happy Hour runs Monday through Friday from 5–9 PM, so expect a crowd. During our visit, it seemed they may have been a bit short-staffed, and our food took longer than expected to arrive. Hopefully that’s just part of the growing pains of a popular new restaurant.

The only thing I’d love to see is a patio. With Granite Bay’s beautiful evenings, outdoor seating with a few cooling misters would make this place even more enjoyable while waiting for a table or lingering over sushi and drinks. Thankfully, they do offer a Yelp waitlist, which makes the wait much more manageable.

The staff remained friendly, welcoming, and appreciative despite how busy they were, which says a lot.

Overall, the quality of the food easily outweighed the wait. Fresh fish, generous portions, creative rolls, and a solid Happy Hour make this a place I’ll happily return to again and again. Looking forward to seeing this hidden gem continue to thrive!“

“These rolls and handrolls are seriously high quality craftsmanship. When walking in every visit, the Chef greets whoever enters and the host/hostess is there ready to take the order. I really enjoy the Crossings, Galleria, or Rocklin. tempura hand roll is very wonderful too!“

“My boyfriend and I went on a Wednesday. The place was super chic and clean. The music was really good too it was covers of some 90s music which was fire.Our server was sweet and made the environment very warm and welcoming. My boyfriend and I got miso soup cucumber salad for an appetizer which was PHENOMENAL. For our sushi rolls we ordered a dragon roll & a salmon roll (fried) both were really good and gone within 2 seconds. “Nara Sushi is a spacious Japanese restaurant in Folsom offering sushi, bento boxes, and other traditional dishes. During our visit for a late lunch, we were seated immediately and found the restaurant comfortable and easygoing. The dining room includes tables, booths, counter seating, and tablets at each table for electronic ordering.

We started with hot sake and gyoza before moving on to our main dishes. Our group ordered a nigiri and tempura bento box, a salmon teriyaki bento box, and a Spicy Yellowtail Roll. Everything was well prepared, portions were good, and everyone enjoyed their meal.

The service was friendly, and the overall experience was relaxed and enjoyable. It's a solid choice if you're looking for sushi or Japanese food in the Folsom area.“

“We were such a big group that we took over 2 cooking table stove tops. When the cooks performed their cooking show, it was great! Big flames and throwing bits of food in the air and us trying to catch it with our open mouths was incredibly fun. We had a few kids under 10 and they REALLY loved it. Unfortunately, the sushi and rolls were pretty average and not as flavorful as I expected. They weren’t terrible, but they definitely didn’t stand out and left me a bit disappointed. Maybe other items on the menu are better, but based on the sushi alone, I probably wouldn’t come back.“

“I come here more than I should probably admit. The sushi is always fresh, and the service is just as good. These days I usually grab takeout since I work on the road, but every time I pass by, my car somehow pulls into their lot on its own (very bizarre).

Everything I have tried has been great. One tip, if you like a little kick, ask for jalapenos on your roll. You will not be disappointed.“
