50 Best Japanese Restaurants near Fair Oaks

“Yummy yummy yummy yummy yummy“

“the food was bomb.First time eating here.Definitely will be back“

“Got the mono, super spider, and pineapple tree. The super spider was easily the best roll and is a 4.5/5. The others are 3/5. Freshness, you can tell not super fresh. Too much sauce. Service could be better. Solid sushi place but nothing special.“

“Great sushi amazing staff, would recommend and give a 5 star“

“Easily the best sushi in the Sacramento area. Its not close. It has ruined sushi everywhere else for me. I would eat here everyday if I could. Meet that with 5 star service and 5 star staff, its a perfect night out. Staff make you feel like family and the sushi is to die for.“

“Absolutely wonderful dining experience! The quality of the food was outstanding, and every dish was beautifully presented with great attention to detail. Everything looked elegant and appetizing, and the flavors were just as impressive.

The restaurant itself is spacious, bright, and very comfortable, creating a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. From the food quality and presentation to the overall dining environment, everything exceeded my expectations. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an excellent dining experience. Five stars!“

“Seoul 1979 was a great find. The service was quick, welcoming, and efficient, and the food tasted fresh and made with care.

I ordered the Bulgogi Cupbap and thoroughly enjoyed it. The beef was tender and flavorful, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the portion was satisfying without feeling overly heavy. The kimchi on the side was a nice added touch.

I can’t speak for the Japanese offerings, but based on the Korean food alone, I’d happily come back.“

“Me and my Husband came here for the first time, and we were NOT disappointed!!!! This food was delicious and wonderful, our server was Mandy and she was so sweet and gracious!!!! This place is a gem, and we will definitely come back, best 🍣 sushi we have had in a very long time, and the tacos are beyond fantastic!!!!!!!So happy to have this awesome place to eat 😁“

“This place is amazing, we will definitely be back.“

“Delightful little venue. It's an order at the counter, then find a seat venue. They'll bring your food out to you when it's done. They'll also bus the table after you leave. Selection of authentic Japanese food gives you a fair amount of choices. Run by a Japanese family!“

“Another fantastic addition to the Granite Bay dining scene! Tucked away in the former Peet’s Coffee plaza, this contemporary sushi spot is quickly becoming one of my new favorites.

The first thing I noticed was the quality and generosity of the food. Unlike many sushi restaurants, they don’t skimp on the fish or the rolls. Every dish was beautifully presented, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared.

The lobster tempura was perfectly seasoned with a light, crispy batter. The Liz Roll actually delivered on the spice (which is rare these days), and the sashimi was cut thick, buttery, and incredibly fresh. If you’re an oyster lover, don’t skip the fresh oysters—6 for $28 is a great deal. Their Happy Hour menu also offers plenty of delicious options, making it easy to sample a variety of dishes without breaking the bank.

Happy Hour runs Monday through Friday from 5–9 PM, so expect a crowd. During our visit, it seemed they may have been a bit short-staffed, and our food took longer than expected to arrive. Hopefully that’s just part of the growing pains of a popular new restaurant.

The only thing I’d love to see is a patio. With Granite Bay’s beautiful evenings, outdoor seating with a few cooling misters would make this place even more enjoyable while waiting for a table or lingering over sushi and drinks. Thankfully, they do offer a Yelp waitlist, which makes the wait much more manageable.

The staff remained friendly, welcoming, and appreciative despite how busy they were, which says a lot.

Overall, the quality of the food easily outweighed the wait. Fresh fish, generous portions, creative rolls, and a solid Happy Hour make this a place I’ll happily return to again and again. Looking forward to seeing this hidden gem continue to thrive!“

“The best sushi in the area without question. They never skimp on portions and they always have the freshest fish, that just melts in your mouth. And of course, they always super friendly.“

“We love this place. Much attention is given to presentation and the food is excellent. This time we tried the Black Cod Steak. Cooked perfectly in a lovely sauce on top of asparagus.
Their starters are also very good. In addition to the Sonomono we tried the breaded fried Oysters that came with a creamy crab dipping sauce. Again, excellent. If you are adventurous or just love trying new tasty foods you will love this place. It is small and you will want to get there early, if you don’t want to wait.“

“I've been coming here for over 16 yrs. I'll be very honest the only thing I order is the Bibimbap #17, no spicy. I just love the sesame sesame seed oil. The vegetables are gently sauteed in the sesame seed oil, chicken is char grilled for the prefect touch of smoke..they have some traditional items that look fresh and delicious.“

“Outstanding! True Top-Chef Level Quality

I recently tried Young’s Teriyaki in Rancho Cordova, and it completely blew me away. The food here is genuinely top-chef level quality.

I ordered both the regular Teriyaki Bowl and the Spicy Chicken Bowl. Both were absolutely outstanding. The chicken was perfectly grilled, incredibly tender, and not dried out at all. The classic teriyaki sauce has the perfect balance of sweet and savory without being overwhelming. The spicy chicken had a fantastic kick to it that kept me coming back for more. The portions are generous, the ingredients taste incredibly fresh, and the flavors are spot on. If you are in the area and craving high-quality teriyaki, this is the absolute best spot in town. I will definitely be a regular customer here!“

“Such a great dining experience. When Xfinity went out, I decided to visit the restaurant — best decision I’ve made all week. The new management team has really elevated things. Alexander and Bennette were amazing, guiding me through the new Japanese dishes and giving spot‑on suggestions for adult Japanese drinks. I honestly forgot how enjoyable dining out could be after COVID. We’re lucky to have this gem in Antelope.“

“We’ve always had great customer service here. However today was a bad experience for us with one of their servers, Helen. We asked her for help as she was walking by but she cut me off before I could finish my question. She said very rudely to us “your server will help you with whatever you need,”before walking off. There were only 3 tables seated and it was not busy as we went right when they opened so I felt her response towards us was unnecessary and dismissive. I hope management will retrain staff as needed.

Despite the bad service experience today, we really enjoy Sake AYCE Sushi and would highly recommend this place. The fish quality and food always tastes fresh.“

“Honestly one of the best sushi experiences I've had after visiting several other restaurants around Sacramento and roseville, service was quick and friendly, we went shortly after they opened so experience may vary on time of day but otherwise I absolutely had a blast me and my friend did indeed FEAST UPON THE FLESH OF FISH!!!“

“great family restaurant. friendly staff.“

“We came with a large group and only one guy was working but he made our food really fast. Everything we ordered was fresh, hot and DELICIOUS. we really enjoyed the bulgogi beef and our teriyaki bowls. Thier homemade hot sauce was a nice touch and very flavorful.“

“Super clean place to eat. Food was great but the teriyaki sauce was amazing. Probably some of the best I have ever had. Service was very fast. Went to fill my fountain drink and my order was sitting there when I returned. So I order a meal to take home for wife. She loved it. Was impressed with the sauce as well. If you love teriyaki like we do, you got to try this place.“

“try it out people always say they want something new something different. Well here's something different so try it out!“

“Great food, friendly staff, nice fully stocked bar and modern interior. Will be back for sure.“

“The food here really hit the spot. We came to sac for a quick stop to eat and the service was so friendly and nice. The food was delicious and prepared perfectly. A lot came steaming hot, not “too hot” but fresh hot! The price for four people was 120, in this economy not bad at all. Overall 10/10, and I can say one of the best japanese spots I’ve ever tried. I got the salmon teriyaki and it was bombbb. I wish we had a spot like this in Fresno!“

“Delicious food! We shared the Chicken teriyaki bento plate and it was so much delicious fresh food. The terriyaki sauce was my favorite I’ve ever had. The chicken has a great char and the mushrooms in the teriyaki were a welcome surprise. The tempura was airy and light and had some fun additions like oyster mushrooms and kabocha squash. We also ordered two rolls, the Lion King and the So Fine. The fish was fresh and the sauces on top were amazing. We’re looking forward to coming back again soon.“

“The flavor of this place has had me coming back for decades. Plus family owned and I love their faces 🥰“

“The freshest, the friendliest, clean and so yummy. we have celebrated my entire families birthday here the past yr and a half“

“Nara Sushi is a spacious Japanese restaurant in Folsom offering sushi, bento boxes, and other traditional dishes. During our visit for a late lunch, we were seated immediately and found the restaurant comfortable and easygoing. The dining room includes tables, booths, counter seating, and tablets at each table for electronic ordering.

We started with hot sake and gyoza before moving on to our main dishes. Our group ordered a nigiri and tempura bento box, a salmon teriyaki bento box, and a Spicy Yellowtail Roll. Everything was well prepared, portions were good, and everyone enjoyed their meal.

The service was friendly, and the overall experience was relaxed and enjoyable. It's a solid choice if you're looking for sushi or Japanese food in the Folsom area.“

“Come and try the best sushi in Sacramento!“

“Tied for my favorite Ramen, fukumi is so good! My only advice is to be careful taking your first bite, temperature wise it can be very hot when first served. The staff is very nice and the restaurant is very clean. Will be coming back years to come.“

“Havent been out in a few months. Came here to get my usual. Food was perfect as usual. But shout out to brooke for making the entire experience feel like i never left. Friendly. Fast service. And made me feel like a valued customer. Blu nami just keeps winning. 10/10.“

“This is our favorite place for Japanese food!“

“We were such a big group that we took over 2 cooking table stove tops. When the cooks performed their cooking show, it was great! Big flames and throwing bits of food in the air and us trying to catch it with our open mouths was incredibly fun. We had a few kids under 10 and they REALLY loved it. We also had my 90 year old mom with a walker and the place was most accommodating. Great tasting food.
Highly recommend this place!“

“I love that Arigato's still has 1/2 price sushi rolls. The sushi is always top notch and super fresh. The tempura Veg was delicious. We walked in to order to go and they had the order done in maybe 10 minutes? Super fast. Been an occasional customer for 15 years between this location and the one on Howe Ave. Always happy with my visits.“

“I rarely feel compelled to write a review, but this place is a hidden gem. Roseville has plenty of excellent sushi, but sometimes a tucked away hole in the wall, with consistently great food, reasonable prices, and servers who treat you like family, is exactly what hits the spot.

It is easy to drive past without ever knowing it is there, but well worth finding. The rolls are excellent, the udon should not be missed, and there is a little treasure on the small plates menu called dragon balls. Highly recommended.“

“GREAT and great service too!!“

“Came here for the first time and ordered the crazy fries, bulgolgi beef, and tonkatsu special - everything was delicious! The crazy fries were amazing (already half finished in the photo, so a hefty portion size) and the bulgolgi came with pickled radish (not pictured), salad, rice, and pickled cucumbers. Both dishes came with miso soup. Loved the food, and the chef and waitress were both very sweet! Highly recommend!“

“Good customer service highly recommend triad plate 🍽️“

“Best option for food in the mall hands down!! You already breaking the bank why pay the price to on your health as well??? Eat healthy, feel better!!!! Yum . On my way to eat here second day in a row. Thank you for providing healthy option here in the galleria mall!!!“

“this is the best sushi place in the world. the lady up front is super nice. the spider roll ran shivers across my body like the first time i was touched intimately by my first love. the food is incredible and really cheap. its like 9 bucks for the best roll of your life.

your time on this earth is finite and its likely that you will not have the opportunities to achieve everything you hope for. tomorrow is not guaranteed— if you can only ensure one experience between now and then, make sure you go to yoko sushi. my life is forever changed.“

“Amazing & creative sushi rolls at 50% off all of the time. The waitresses are charming and attentive! Recently remodeled!“

“Mizuki in Citrus Heights is hands down my favorite spots for sushi in Sacramento. It’s become a go-to for our work (Deacon) crew for years; we’re here so often that the owner, Ella, knows us all by name. That personal touch makes every visit feel special.

The food is consistently amazing. The Red Dragon roll is my favorite with jalapeño peppers also it’s just packs the perfect kick. The Citrus Roll is fresh, flavorful, and a perfect signature touch. And don’t even get me started on the gyoza—easily the best in town. Pam seared to perfection on the outside, flavorful inside, and always served piping hot.

Whether it’s a casual lunch or a post-shift sushi fix, Mizuki is always my go-to. Can’t recommend it enough!“

“Excellent food with a diverse menu for those who wish to order something other than sushi. You can easily make a meal with the appetizers alone, which I have done on more than one occasion. Mikuni is our go to for special occasions and when we have guests visiting.“

“Gift card scam. Mikunis implemented a new protocol in 2022. Any gift cards that were purchased before a certain (unknown) date, and now utilized, will be zeroed out. Back story: I attempted to use a gift card today (April 2023) and was informed it had a zero balance. The server kept my card. I had a gut feeling, asked for the card back. I spoke to the manager about how I could have a zero balance when I had never used it. The manager informed me that corporate zeroed out all gift cards that weren’t used. In order for me to get my money on the gift card, I have to call corporate headquarters and “request” an inquiry; which I did to no avail. It’s not about “expired” gift cards. It’s about not informing consumers ahead of a new rule that gift cards be zeroed out before a certain date. I’ve used 10 year old gift cards at other restaurants without any problem. Biggest scam ever.“

“Great food and stellar service absolutely love this place.“

“Good decent food and good service. This place have a drive thru to order or you can just dine in. Got myself the combo beef & chicken, eggroll, rice, veggies, and small drink. Good portion amount. Somehow, I like the eggrolls here. Only veggies, yet it's crunchy and flavorful (includes a sweet dipping sauce). The beef seem like it was pre-cooked and then heated up. It tasted ok in a pinch if you need beef to mix it up with other items. The chicken was freshly grilled, tender, not dry, and delicious ...highly recommended. Skip the beef, instead get the chicken!“

“A total hidden gem for the food alone! You get an unbelievable amount of food for just $15. I got the spicy option Teriyaki Plate, and the flavor was hit out of the park it was so sweet, savory, and perfectly spicy with a great char. To be fair, the customer service and indoor atmosphere could definitely be worked on, and the location isn’t the best. But honestly, I came purely for the food, and it delivered 100%. I'll definitely be back for more!“

“must go to this place, it's really delicious and the atmosphere is very pleasant, don't miss the opportunity and you'll enjoy it a lot!“

“Went there with a large group they got us seated right away . Server was very attentive and the food is always amazing .“
