“For this yankee, the pizza was as close as it gets to any NY style pizza! The crust was perfectly thin (not too thin), the sauce had just the right amount of sweetness and the cheese had a good bite. The service was neighborhood friendly. “NY transplant always looking for great pizza in LA and I don’t know why there isn’t a line out the door here. Different from NY pizza due to the chewy sourdough crust but the square pie is unlike any pizza I ever tasted. Round pie is excellent too.

“This is an awesome pizza place that I'm so happy to have in the area. The pizza always tastes fresh and they use quality toppings. My favorites are the spicy pepperoni and the great white. We also love the garlic knots and the cookie with ice cream on top. The service is great-- special shoutout to Luis, who always helps with my order and hooks it up for us. “Pizza was excellent! Crunchy crust. Very generous with the toppings, unlike some places. It's pretty much a takeout place, While there is seating, it's pretty much an afterthought. If they want to encourage dining there, they could certainly make the dining room more inviting with some simple, inexpensive upgrades. (Like loose the XMAS decorations and Santas. It's almost March, replace the burned-out light bulbs in the chandeliers, red-checked tablecloths on the tables, don't store supplies in the dining room or where visible from it. Some type of partition around the order counter would help).“

“As an LA native who worked in pizzerias for 5 years and has made trips to NY and Brooklyn for pizza, I can say Petramale Pizza is some of the best NY-style I’ve had on the West Side. The crust is perfectly thin, the cheese is high quality and well-balanced, and the sauce has a rich tang. The service is also a standout. The owner greets everyone like a lifelong friend, and they’re generous, often handing out drinks or sides while you wait. What they’re doing for the community is impressive.

On a return visit, I tried their recommended Margarita with pepperoni (the “Margaroni”), and it wasn’t for me. They go very heavy on the parmesan and bake it with parm and basil already on, which threw off the balance of the pie. I'd highly recommend they switch to adding the parmesan on afterwards, and using fresh parmesan if they aren't already.

That said, I’d still highly recommend coming here. Stick with their more traditional pies and you’ll get an excellent NY-style experience.“

“BEST PIZZA IN THE SOUTH BAY! My boyfriend introduced me to this little gem a few years ago and I can honestly say any other pizza I try since doesn't come close to the amazing taste that Jack's pizza makes. We're lucky enough to live 3 minutes away from this place, so we usually pick up and bring the pie home, but it's always piping hot and perfection every time. I honestly don't go anywhere else for pizza since my first bite of Jack's pizza, and I can pretty much guarantee you won't either. This place has been around for a long long time, I think somewhere around the 80's and I hope they stay around making magic in the kitchen for many years to come. “Ordered a large half pepperoni half veggie (mushroom, onion, red and green bellpepper, and tomato) pizza for pick-up and it was delicious! Crust was chewy, sauce was delicious, and for my vegetarians the vegetables on the veggie half felt very fresh. It cost $22 dollars and fed our group of 3 easy (had 8 slices and 3 were leftover for the next meal).

“One of my favorite pizza places in Westwood. It's a bit grungy, but that fits in with the urban New York subway aesthetic. I've had some issues with cleanliness in the past here, but I've been okay enough with that to return. I prefer to order by the slice, as I find the crust is much crispier that way, which is what I like more.“
