“Best kept secret of El Sobrante: El Chalan, Peruvian and Italian restaurant, offers a family atmosphere with great food at a good price. Warm bread and butter is served from the beginning. Their roast 1/2 chicken and whole fried trout, with home style french fries are very popular. Their sea food dishes, especially the seafood soups are delicious. The Italian food is also excellent. Butter nut squash raviolis, gnocchi, and spaghetti are cooked perfectly. Kids love this place.“

Our server, Toni, was accommodating about all of our reasonable ( and less reasonable) requests. We sat in a corner quite close to our neighbors but it wasn't too bad. The sound quality in their space makes it so you don't get bombarded but a lot of loud clanging. “First time I had Lucia's pizza was at their pop up at the Grand Lake farmers market in oakland, and completely fell in love with the 4 cheese pizza! Decided to try the restaurant a couple of months ago and the didn't disappoint! Pizza was delicious and staff were super nice and friendly! “Date night with the lady and we decided on pizza. We did a quick search and found nothing but over priced greasy choices in our local area (Walnut Creek, Concord). We found four corners pizza n pasta and the pictures and reviews sounded good. We ordered the Papa Charlie’s pizza and a Caesar salad and it had exceeded our expectations. Home made Caesar and ranch dressing, fresh toppings, evenly spread, and crispy crust. You can tell they take pride in their food and it shows. Lots of open seating, great atmosphere and clean. We will be back to try the rest of the menu. This is my new favorite pizza spot and I highly recommend it.“

I liked the interior a lot - it was bright, clean, open, the walls were adorned with various photographs, from the tables, chairs, lighting fixtures, to the way the condiments were placed out on the tables, everything carried my eyes to wander and admire. I entered during a time when there was only one other person waiting for a to-go order. The guy who was working was nice - especially when I kept asking questions. All of the food looked great, well-stocked, and the display they had showing its name was well read. There was a lot I wanted to try, but I limited myself to two slices of their pizzas. - Capricciosa $7 (one of their most popular ones - mushrooms, olives, artichoke, mozzarella, and ham) - San Daniele $7.50 (this might be a seasonal one as its not listed on their website - had prosciutto and arugula) Checking in on the Yelp app, I received a free piece of their focaccia bread which he cut in two pieces for me. I would love to come back here for their aperitivo (happy hour) which is held from 4-6:30pm. I find that this place is great for a quick bite, grab n' go, and dining in for the cool atmosphere. There are a few two person tables which could be combined together for a larger group and a few bar tables along the wall which is good for two people, along with a few cute tables for outside dining which I'd love to see more of in the state of California. The food tasted amazing! Shared and eaten once I arrived home. I wish I had gotten more to try!“

Service is usually pretty good but it was slower for our party who was the first in one and had two small kids for some reason tonight than all the other parties that were seated after us. We had to ask for drinks. Another server who wasn't assigned to our table gave us some bread because he knew we hadn't been served for some time and we appreciated that. Nice to know they have happy hour Sundays 5-6pm. Would encourage their staff to be mindful that customers arriving with young children usually have a time limit before the kids get hangry which tends to ruin everyone's dining experience so please don't slack on tables with kiddos!“

“We wanted a good restaurant close to the Berkeley Playhouse, which had an excellent rendition of Rent, and we were not disappointed with Donato&Co. One of the best things about this restaurant is the wine list – you can get any glass, carafe, or bottle of wine. This is a rarity, especially in the bay area, and it gives you a full spectrum of choices to enjoy. Food was excellent, Including a fantastic black truffle appetizer over a flan like cheese and toasted Parmesan. Pastas were fresh and delicious. Great server who provided excellent recommendations. “This place is da Bomb!! (As we used to say in the food world in NY way back when) Unbelievable high level REAL ITALIAN cuisine. Spectacular pasta- they make their own to sell in specialty stores now and the salads are to die for- fresh, complex combos of veggies with amazing dressing. The pizzas and calzones are to die for- amazing crust and stuffing. The service is flawless and the ambiance so cool- monthly art exhibits on walls, outdoor tables on nice sunny days for lunch treat. “4.5 stars - Delicious pasta made to order and open till midnight! Unfortunately, they don't have public bathrooms and you will not find one at any other nearby establishments. Bring cash to save yourself $1 per plate. Each pasta is served in a plastic container, which can be seen as wasteful. I loved Gypsy's Chicken pasta which is made with creamy white sauce (alfredo maybe?). The chicken can be a little dry, but it is well seasoned. It will still taste good because there is enough sauce to go with it. I will definitely return to this restaurant when im in the area!“

“There's some slight confusion because ordering from "Slice of Hollywood" from Eat24, you get pizza from Pizza Nation, but that's no big deal. The food is GOOD. Best wings I've ever had delivered, and the pizza is really good as well. plenty of toppings, and so far I've only had great experiences with them. Great combo price deals too!“
