“I came here on a cloudy Sunday and was immediately greeted and got a seat right away. I ordered the deluxe mazemen with the pork belly and it was delicious mixture of different savory textures and flavors. I definitely liked it more after adding a bit of the white vinegar to cut through some of the richness. I also had the yuzu sour, which if you know me, I love the yuzu like waking up and having no work that day. The yuzu sour was refreshing, not too sweet, and tasted like one of the bottled yuzu sodas out there. If I'm in the area after hitting some golf balls I'll come back.“

My kids are picky eaters but there was something good for all of them. From my 2 yr old to 13yr old. We will definitely save this location to continue to go again when in the area. “I always have a pleasant time at Silverlake Ramen. I always get The Blaze which is one of there spicer ramens with an amazing thick broth that is always the best on cold days. Ever since my friend showed me this place I been hooked ever since and now I take my friends here. I also recommend there dumplings which I always get. The Service here is always nice as well. “Solid, straight to the point spot for ramen. I got the Kai Red ramen and wife got the Tonkotsu Classic. The Kai red had a good kick, not too overbearing and the soup had a nice consistency. Wife enjoyed the Tonkotsu classic, nothing fancy, just well balanced and very familiar in a good way. For appetizers, we also got Takoyaki and Sesame Fried Chicken, which my daughter really enjoyed. I thought the Takoyaki was the sleeper. The Kai's Boba Milk tea definitely came in handy to cool us off, from both the ramen and the heat outside. Super decadent, generous with the sauce (you can request a small scoop of rice for free afterwards to finish off the sauce), great noodle texture, amazing taste!! The first bite was heaven.

Looks small at first but that’s just because the bowl is big/I was struggling to finish halfway through.

“Cute homey Japanese vibes. It’s a small restaurant so I can see there’d be a wait on busy days. Luckily we only had to wait about 5 min. The menu is straightforward. Comfort Japanese dishes. Service was great, they’re super nice and very attentive!

The tempura was good, sauce was great too. Katsu was fried perfectly, sauce was tangy and fantastic, just wish the pork was more moist/tender. Karaage was just okay, probably wouldn’t order it again, most of the flavor came from the sauce. My dad loved his eel bowl set, flavored and cooked well. My katsudon bowl was delicious, again katsu was a little dry, togarashi is a must with this bowl. And the cold soba noodles were great, the sauce dip was perfectly seasoned and noodles were perfect texture, very refreshing to eat.

The curry had a phenomenal and savory taste. I'd recommend Level 3 Spice level as it is a great blend of flavor and spice. If you're interested in having great Japanese Curry this is the spot. I also tried their potato croquette which was exquisite I ate it immediately and took a photo part way 🤣 into eating. I also have their Strawberry Matcha Latte which was a great blend and tasted perfect. Definitely coming back to try the Curry Omelet variety. Tampopo Restaurant has been a long term tenant at the Artesia City Plaza. I remember dining at the prior occupant (Sushi Samurai, I believe), many years ago. Originally planning to dine at Katsumura, only to find they're not open Mondays, Tampopo became Plan B for some sustenance.

Tampopo ramen & gyoza lunch special-
Priced at $14.95, the Tampopo ramen & gyoza lunch special was a good deal. The broth was thinner than what was expected, and the ramen wasn't al dente (more spaghetti-like) to my preference. However, the bowl of soup had an ample amount of food with three thick slabs of tender pork belly.

The gyoza provided a nice textural contrast to the ramen, and were pleasurable to eat.

Service was good. Seating was readily available and the wait was minimal for food. Parking is at the Artesia City Plaza, which can become quite difficult to find during peak hours. Tampopo is located in-between Bakers & Baristas & Sweetee Thai.

Not ramen quite comparable to a dedicated ramen shop, Tampopo's ramen & gyoza lunch special is still a bargain for a filling meal. Things are expensive now, so I find Tampopo's reasonable pricing & ample quantities and good choice when in search of a meal option in the area.“
