“We had a really nice experience! The side of the restaurant has enough space for a few tables to dine in, and it felt cozy. The service was quick, friendly, and efficient. I liked that they had sauces and water available right at the tables for self-service.

We dined in, and everything came out fast! We spent around $40 for a chicken bowl, two sushi rolls, and two miso soups ,perfect for two adults and a toddler. The food was amazing! My husband said the teriyaki chicken was really good, and I agree. the chicken was juicy, not dry at all. The salmon sushi was good too, just a little warm for my husband’s liking, but overall, everything had great flavor.

The music was a fun surprise, they were playing some techno, which we didn’t mind at all! It actually made the experience more fun. We even found ourselves dancing a little while eating. Definitely a place we’d come back to!“

“Went for my birthday and i am more than pleased. The food, service and resturant was all amazing. There were options for all people who may have diet restrictions. My 7 year old had a great time with the chicken wings and the octopus and shrimp sushi. This was the place nearest to us that the ramen pics looked appealing. I have to say the ramen here was amazing. It tasted almost the same to the ramen we tried in our trip to Tokyo. And our server was so nice and attentive. He was so sweet that he gave our mom her drink for free since she wasn’t going to consume food due to not liking ramen but she was accompanying us. The fish is fresh, the hand rolls are delicious, prices are reasonable, and service is pretty quick (as long as every seat doesn’t fill at the exact same time, but even that is manageable).

“Cozy Japanese place perfect to grab lunch at! We got a rice ball, takoyaki, and the pork katsu sandwich. All the food came out very promptly and was yummy.

The interior is very cute! There are cute painted signs with food items. We also got some cute free stickers! Seating is limited to ~10 people due to the small size of the place so if it's busy, doing take-out would definitely be best. Unfortunately, there wasn't strong AC so it was hot inside.

Parking is limited and small but you could find street parking/parking in the neighborhood and walk.“

The ramen is the real standout. It tastes authentically made — rich, complex broths that feel like they've been simmering all day. My personal favorite is the spicy tonkotsu ramen: bold, creamy, and just the right amount of heat. The yellowtail rolls are another fave, and the daily specials are always worth asking about.

“Restaurant with good service and a relaxing atmosphere. However definitely cozy as tables are all close together and was a bit loud when it was packed on a weekend night. Also it was warm on a warm day as their AC was not working optimally.

Enjoyed the seafood/uni risotto, mushroom salad, uni spaghetti. The chicken karaage was ok. The curry is on the side. Spicy mussels were very seasoned.
Panna Cotta had a creamy, semi- bouncy texture. The bread pudding was more pudding like with a very sweet sauce on it. Desserts definitely can be shared.“

“Total hidden gem honestly kinda glad it hasn't blown up yet but I want them to stick around so I'm leaving an honest review.
Their sushi is amazing clean enough that I trust feeding my wife her salmon and scallop sushi cravings from this spot.
By far though the must try item is their jumbo Scallop it is soooooo gooood.
They have an all you can eat menu but I lay extra to order more of that scallop.
I also just found out they started a new promotion, free roll with x amount spent for example $20 gets you a California roll and $30 gets you a crunchy roll and 2 more tiers.

The sushi chef was so nice he snuck in an extra salmon sushi in my togo order today I hear he was the original shop owner, sold it went to japan to work more in the industry and came back and bought it back, or something along those lines from other people's reviews. May or may not be true but doesn't an amazing hole in the wall deserve that kind of romantic story?

“This place is GREAT! Not OK, not good… GREAT! I’ve been to all the teriyaki spots up and down Whittier Blvd, and you simply aren’t going to get a better deal than this. Very fair prices for very large portions, but which always means very happy customers.

Customer service is excellent, they have a soda fountain with Coke products (and cans for other brands), a few tables inside so good for a quick lunch/dinner or takeout.

This place is an absolute no-brainer for simple, great Japanese food. If you’ve never been, you need to come, and if you have been, you need to come back. Skip the Flame Broiler’s and Panda Expresses and be happy that you came here instead.“

There was a barely noticeable wait and we spent it eagerly looking at the menu. Service extremely prompt and scrupulous. Place is a bit small and they fill the space, so be prepared for loud noises. “We went here for the AYCE sushi and got the premium menu because we're visiting Socal for vacation. Absolutely phenomenal with the service and food! I love how friendly the staff was to us and explained how the process actually work. There are leftover fee + only order what you can eat! Definitely should ask for recommendations and they provide you a menu with pictures. I would absolutely come back here again! The parking lot is kinda small, but we were able to find a spot before the dinner rush.“

I was hungry and I was going to wait til I got home but I decided to get the chicken bowl because I saw it was 9 bucks. I didn’t expect much as I took it to my truck and man was I blown away. The flavor of the chicken was so delicious and the amount of ingredients they put into the bowl is unbelievable. It had green beans pineapple carrot slices cabbage and some other vegetables. I was amazed for how much food they gave me for the plate only being 9 bucks and they put a lot of chicken in there which was a big plus. “Worthy of a special trip! They took such care in their preparation. It’s not a glitzy place but the service was special. Counter order, lots of options. My wife and I stopped there as we were staying at the Hampton inn in the same area. I had a yellowtail roll along with tempura and my wife had the salmon. Vegetables were perfect presentation was spot on for casual dining and my roll was one of the best I’ve had. Perfect proportion of spicy tuna to yellowtail to rice. “Came to Sushi Story and we were seriously amazed! The fish was incredibly fresh, and every piece of nigiri, roll, and sashimi was HUGE! They also have wide selection of sake and Japanese beer. Everything was so satisfying, and they even have claw machines, which made the whole experience even more fun!

Overall, such a great spot, we had so much fun and absolutely loved it. Definitely coming back!

“Food is amazing. Pork Katsu comes with 5-6 pork slices that are extremely juicy and tender. Rice on the bottom with salad. Amazing side dishes like pickled radish and cucumbers served with creamy soup.

Service is incredible. Very attentive waiter. Fast with drinks and extremely speedy with service. I ask for napkins or more water; I close my eyes for one second and it's literally all there! Kim Tae (Ted) is amazing! Great work ethic displayed and attentiveness.

I ordered the three item bento with teriyaki chicken, shrimp tempura, and a Crunchy Roll, and everything held up incredibly well by the time I got home. The teriyaki chicken was juicy and packed with amazing flavor that perfect balance of savory, slightly sweet, and rich umami that really stands out. Every bite tasted fresh and well-seasoned, not rushed or generic like a lot of takeout spots.

What really impressed me was how both the flavor and texture stayed on point.
