I ordered the medium heat level, which had a great kick but wasn’t overpowering. For those looking for a real challenge, they have hotter options too, but beware – it’s not for the faint of heart! The sides were a nice complement, especially the creamy mac and cheese and tangy coleslaw, which helped cool things down.

The atmosphere was casual and laid-back, making it a great spot for a quick bite with friends or a casual lunch. The staff was friendly and happy to explain the menu for first-timers. One small downside was the wait time during peak hours, but it’s worth it for fresh, made-to-order food.

“While not an expert I grew up in Detroit eating gyros as often as hamburgers. Hands down the best gyro I have had in ages. Warm soft pita, crisp fresh veggies, great house made sauce and really tasty gyro meat. And always friendly service from the owner. Small seating area so may need to plan to do take out versus eat in.“

“This is for the tasting room AND the Advent calendar from 2023.Tasting room - the woman who runs it is very experienced and we enjoyed chatting with her as she explained a variety of wines to us. There were some really delicious ones we had. One thing I found totally obnoxious and unhelpful were the descriptions of the wine. No joke - these were some descriptions. I was cringing so hard reading them.“Like a pair of silky red pajamas”“Like going on a 2nd date”They are trying too hard here to seem cool and it was embarrassing how useless the descriptions were. We are paying for wine, please describe it. This is not a creative writing class. Thank goodness the lady who ran the tasting room was there to give us further explanation about the actual flavor, aromatics or profile we should expect when tasting. She agreed the written descriptions were not as helpful as they could be but it was not her decision. We seriously would not have tried any of the wines just based on those descriptions. I had to knock off one star because of this.Advent calendar - was skeptical based on some shipping issues I read from the previous year. I got mine on time and the variety was good! I would say I really enjoyed about 70% and the 30% were interesting/good, not my favorite but cool to try. I would do it again next year.“

“Highly, highly recommend this place (of all the banh mi places in SF and Marin). This place is a gem in the North Bay. I've been to both locations, but live closer to the San Rafael deli. As a Vietnamese who grew up eating banh mi (not "bahn" - please stop misspelling this word!, although I understand "bahn" has been spelled like this to make it phonetically easier to pronounce), I vouch for this place. It is wholeheartedly the best banh mi place in the Bay area. Growing up, I lived in a close-knit Vietnamese-American community, and my mother and another lady in our village sold banh mi, so I have a discerning taste for banh mi. This place is totally legit and super authentic. The french bread is just the right texture (light and flaky, but not dense inside). The actual bread in a Vietnamese banh mi is not the same as a french baguette that is more often dense and chewy (and thanks to French colonizers, they left the Vietnamese with french bread and amazing architecture). I know many places in the Bay area that serve more dense baguettes for banh mi, which isn't authentic. The filling is perfect and the right amount with no special brown sauce or gravy. Vietnamese banh mi filling is not sweet, but has a slight tang and citrusy flavor from the pickled carrots and daikon.This is the perfect example of Vietnamese banh mi. I don't normally write reviews, but I want to spread the word that this place serves very good banh mi. Another added value is the price of a banh mi that is 30% less than the price of other places that are now charging $10-13 per baguette. The owners are super sweet, too. If you happen to find yourself in the North Bay and craving a banh mi, or want to find an authentic example, this place is a must!

“An absolute gem! The food here is nothing short of divine, bursting with flavor and clearly made with care. We sat on the sunny outdoor patio, which was the perfect setting for a leisurely lunch. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive, adding to the warm, welcoming vibe. We ordered the Pad Thai and Green Curry both were balanced and satisfying. A chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc rounded out the meal perfectly. Can’t wait to come back!“

We went with our kids and ordered a variety of dishes—especially the sizzling stone pot bibimbap and the fried chicken, which were absolutely outstanding. Tried the mushroom stuffed sweet potato for a starter and it was delicious. We shared a beet salad and eggplant parmesan dish. Great! Finished the dinner with a slice of grandmother’s cake, a light crusted lemon custard dessert. Very tasty! The restaurant also had a good selection of beer and wine if you are interested is a beverage with dinner. We enjoyed our conversation with the waiter, everyone was happy to serve. “If you're thinking about a place to have a party, I can't recommend Ounces enough! Waz and his team were so lovely to work with, and they helped plan the perfect afternoon. Lawn games, tasty food, delicious sips, relaxing atmosphere, and friendly service.

Outside of events, it's also just a fantastic place to drink a cold beverage in the sunshine. I've taken a book with me and relaxed on the lovely patio, during the times I wasn't there with friends.

This place is truly a hidden gem at the Northgate Mall.“
