We had a wonderful Father’s Day dinner here, and everything exceeded our expectations. The waitstaff and the friendly girls at the door who seated us were all fantastic—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Everyone took the time to explain the specials and answer questions, which made the experience feel personal and special. 
The portions were generous and the food was incredibly fresh and flavorful. As a nice touch, they even took a Polaroid picture of us with their own camera to commemorate the occasion—what a thoughtful gesture!
This was a great dinner overall, and we’ll definitely be back. Perfect spot for a memorable meal with family. Thank you to the whole team!“

“After moving to San Anselmo in 1996, I finally visited M.H. Bread and Butter, drawn in by the crowds. Ms. Jenny, the manager, suggested trying the lemon bread, Queen Aman, raspberry croissants, and 'medium country' bread. Brahim, the owner's brother, highlighted the positives of working there. The area's connections to the Grateful Dead, Metallica, and Huey Lewis and the News and was at one time Bonnie Raite an Santana's residence make it even more special.“

“Food was great, local and fresh, and it was served faster than I expected, because it was pretty busy and during Brunch. Great atmosphere, nice and warm in the summer mid morning sun, not too disturbed from the traffic and noise, and the service was good! Definitely coming back again!“

“I went to San Anselmo with my wife and daughter last week during the Argentina (was rooting for Messi) match. The town looked fantastic once on my way back from Olema and so went back there to have lunch. We thought the place would be nice during the summer days and on 3rd July. But we were kind of disappointed at the beginning, as stayed longer after lunch while watching the game on TV (slightly grumpy bar guy was reluctant to turn the tv sound on, but later he demanded for a pretty please and volume was on - he must have had a long day - anyway he was nice afterwards). Then we saw people were showing up after 3pm and later (the town blocks the roads for live music and kids activities, food etc) - by the time the game was ending the restaurant was full of people with locals mostly. I loved their food and dessert too. Next time will try wine (it seems that is good stuff there). Overall a great experience…“

I ordered the medium heat level, which had a great kick but wasn’t overpowering. For those looking for a real challenge, they have hotter options too, but beware – it’s not for the faint of heart! The sides were a nice complement, especially the creamy mac and cheese and tangy coleslaw, which helped cool things down.

The atmosphere was casual and laid-back, making it a great spot for a quick bite with friends or a casual lunch. The staff was friendly and happy to explain the menu for first-timers. One small downside was the wait time during peak hours, but it’s worth it for fresh, made-to-order food.

Overall, if you’re a fan of hot chicken or just looking to spice up your meal, Faces Hot Chicken is the place to be. Just make sure you come prepared for the heat!

“Love most of all is its quiet ,clean , friendly ,cozy ,country ambience . Having early breakfast or brunch there is a big treat for me, every time. The ambience is very open and welcoming with a few sofas to sit on if you want to feel extra comfortable. It's located in a vibrant area of downtown San Rafael.“

“stopped in here for an afternoon beer or two with friends before a hotel check-in. For some reason the bartender kept leaving the bar to go in the kitchen and had to have another front of house staff member go get him every time we wanted to order. All the staff was nice enough and tap selection was excellent and diverse. A cool spot with standard beer garden style tables and benches, a pirate ship playground, a nice interior with lots of seating also and lots of heaters for the cooler evenings. A solid spot to drink day or night.“

It was perfection with a gorgeous bun lightly crispy on the outside and rendering to softly chewy delight wrapped around an ideal mixture of bulgogi beef, onions peppers and gobs of melted provolone (jalapeños from the secret menu). “Stopped by recently on a hot summer day for some gelato. Talk about a perfect repast to beat the summer heat. I had hazelnut and mango, and the portions are very generous. I didn't ask, but I think they make the cones in-house. Anyway, strange combination, I know. The mango was immediately delicious but I think I messed up combining the two because when it came time for the hazelnut, I was too full to truly enjoy the depth of flavor. Next time, I'll get it to take home. I love the location, it's in one of my favorite areas of San Rafael with shopping, good food and entertainment in abundance. Haven't had the pizza yet, but I'm a New Yorker and we're picky about our slices!“

“The steamed clams and mussels were the best I've had in years. Perfectly cooked, not overdone and small like so many places. The ribeye was delicious and the mashed potatoes that came with it were perfect 👌. Fish tacos were complex and delicious. You can tell they have an artist back there. Service was great and added to the experience ❤️. We went with a toddler and sat outside, luckily most people were inside, but they were very kind and seemed to enjoy her antics which always makes it more enjoyable for the adults.“

“Came across this restaurant by chance when looking for Indian food in the area. Everything about this restaurant was great- the naan and paneer were super soft, the paneer makhani and channa masala was delicious and less oily, Sukhwinder’s service was great!! Highly recommend.
Note: portion sizes are a bit small so 2 subzis for 4 could be a bit less.“
