“Hidden gem fire a quick, affordable bite. Mushroom chicken-Big plump pieces of mushroom, snappy zucchini, crunchy, juicy, just-cooked sliced onion, nice raw onion flavor. Curry chicken- not over powering curry flavor, just an itty bitty kick, the potatoes are cooked all the way through and the carrots are soft and sweet which tells me this curry was left to simmer to meld all the flavors. Yes I came in very hungry but for a typical buffet-tray-under-a-lamp place, it is definitely better than average. A two item combo with plenty of chow mein with sliced cabbage was $10.50 before tax. I brought home a medium sized a la carte chicken with mushroom entree, less than $10 with tax. Bring cash if you can, $15 minimum for card purchase. Oh, and the owners were not only super nice but they seemed really grateful for each customer.“

“The best Chinese food I had in a long long time. We have been with six, sharing different dishes - a blast. Share the soup! Highly recommended. Thanks for reading my comment. Now, if you are curious enough about my "rating scheme", here's "the moment of truth. I am a music photographer who has traveled the world with the world's greatest musical talents (Michael Jackson, AC/DC, Rolling Stones, and Rammstein, to name a few) for almost 40 years. When being asked "Where do you live" I tended to ask "in hotels". At my peak, I "shot" 250 shows a year. Will say: been there, saw and tasted it, and a lot, as I may say, and much to the dismay of my doctor who is in my back to lose a few pounds. Quite a few, as I may add, which is why my wife and I walk ten thousand steps per day, where- and whenever we can - and explore a lot of new exciting places - places you may oversee when just driving by. While I love to share my experience with others, I am sometimes shocked at how people use their "power of the word" to down-rate amazing places because of minor incidents (in my all-time favorite restaurant Le Petit Four on Sunset Plaza the owner was even called a racist as he refused to toast the (free) bread in his packed restaurant - they simply do not offer toasted bread, as no French place does, as I may add). Or I just read "Chicken piccata so over-salted I hope the dog enjoys the leftovers tomorrow, I brought home most of the dish." Did they speak to their service? How could the restaurant learn that something was wrong when patrons even have their leftovers boxed to take home? As a dog owner, I want to take the writer and shake him or her really bad and say "You give over-salted food to your dog? Anyone with a bit of brain understands this is a horrible idea... I hope you agree. So If I had a say on this portal, I would offer just to see the ratings of my friends. So I would see what the ratings were by like-minded people. Sadly, I have no say. I try not to compare apples with oranges. A place like this does not correspond to "The Ritz". At first, I assume that a restaurant is clean, they do not greet you with a gun - and they deliver whatever they promise. I do not give stars for things that are expected. In my rating scheme, three or more stars are awarded if they actually exceed my expectations. Four, if I am sure I will come back. To achieve five stars, I must be willing to take a detour of thirty minutes or more to go again. Thank you for reading this.“

“Ricardo was my waiter and it was my first time here. This place is a gem, the food is prepared fresh and with authenticity. Some people say you can’t taste or smell MSG, but I have a sensitivity to it, and I can say this place DOESN’T use MSG! This was something I deeply appreciate, and I take food serious, I enjoy experiencing culture via food and the people who serve it. This restaurant wasn’t too busy Saturday afternoon, to my surprise, but it should be hustling and bustling! I didn’t let this detour me, I lean on hidden gems mostly when I dine out. If you are in the area and looking for something new, and unique, or you are spending the morning at the Huntington Library/Museum and Botanical Garden like I was, (a short 7 minute drive through historic Pasadena/San Marino) try this true Chinese restaurant. The parking is directly across the way, they have a patio, and it’s nestled amongst other charming stores and restaurants. On weekends the location hosts local creatives markets, and music. I had the following increíble, well balanced and savory dishes: pork and chicken dumplings, vegetables fried rice (was very different in a delightful way!), chicken soup, three cup chicken, beef and Chinese broccoli, and jasmine ice tea.“

“I would come here for drinks instead of the food. Beautiful interior, great ambience, amazing staff but the food was meh. I wasn't expecting it to be great but I could get better honey walnut shrimp at Panda Express. Soup dumplings were fine too but not mind blowing. I would still totally come back just to hangout, it's so cool in there.“

“Been coming here for as long as I can remember - I suppose as long as this iteration has existed. The H.Way Frontier is a place you’re introduced to early on if you’re below the line film crew in Burbank running with a rigging or art dept./set Dec crew. This storefront carries on the tradition as I’ll often bump into fellow industry crew here.
All that stuff is well and good but the real reason we congregate here is THE FOOD. There are other good Chinese restaurants in LA but this place to me is by far the best. Consistently wonderful, delicious, very good portion sizes and a nice menu variety. It’s quick (15 minutes or less) and the lunch specials are a great deal. I’m not usually this gushy about anything but Frontier Wok Too deserves every bit of praise I can throw at it. If my family is in the mood for Chinese Food there’s only one choice for us and that is right here. With no traffic it’s still a 20 minute drive one way but it’s worth every minute once we’re sitting down to eat it. You can’t go wrong at Frontier Wok Too. If you haven’t tried it you simply must and you can be the judge.“

“This place is a gem, tucked away 6 walking minutes from the Pantages. If you're a true dumpling, shumai and long bao fan, your taste buds need not walk any further. The explosion of flavors will make you want to come back. Make sure you also try the Lychee Lemonade, the scallion pancakes and the tomato and egg noodles. An A+ all around!“

“The food was delicious, the service excellent, the establishment was clean, portions generous, and cost affordable. We ordered chow mein, fish with black bean sauce, and Mongolian beef. It's not Chinese fast food, it's a sit down restaurant. Surprised it wasn't crowded as the food is delicious. The location is a little non-descript but street parking was easy. I live in Gardena and although there are several Chinese restaurants, none are good. This was a lucky find as restaurant reviews in general tend to result in a bad choice.“
“Amazing Chinese food served with cozy modern vibes. Beef noodles are amazingly chewy and delicate. A gem in Altadena/Pasasena area. This is the only modern Chinese restaurant that makes you feel relaxed enough to have a drink with friends and share a great meal. Completely forgot to take a photo of the ice cream in a fried bao which is a requirement for any meal at Woon“

“On September 27, 2024 I had my takeout food, orange chicken, cashew shrimp with coconut and their eggrolls. The amount of awesome food was three times the normal any other restaurant. The $16 average per meal is way below the other restaurants. Everything I had was outstanding and is without a doubt my number one restaurant in Eagle 🦅 Rock!! GREEN DRAGON RESTAURANT ROCKS!!! take out only…. Low prices.“

“Very nice small restaurant selling specialty noodles and some side items. The potato noodles have a firmer texture, kinda like soba, the soup was delicious. Chicken bone was also very good. There was an old couple working there, very friendly. Price was reasonable, highest it goes was $13 for the house special noodle. Overall a great place to try something new and unique.“

“Nu Great Wok is one of those spots you’re really glad you found.
From the moment you walk in, it’s clean, quick, and friendly — the kind of neighborhood Chinese restaurant that actually cares if you enjoy your meal. The staff is always welcoming and the food comes out hot and fresh.
What really stands out is the lunch menu. They have a great selection — all the favorites like General Tso’s, orange chicken, beef with broccoli, sesame chicken, vegetable dishes, fried rice/lo mein options — and it’s all at very reasonable prices. You get a solid portion, not a skimpy one, so it’s perfect for a workday lunch or a quick bite without spending a lot.
Food quality is consistently good: sauces are flavorful, veggies are crisp, and the meat actually tastes fresh, not overcooked. Plus, they’re pretty fast, so you’re not waiting forever.
Overall, Nu Great Wok is exactly what a good local Chinese place should be: tasty food, plenty of choice, fair prices, and friendly service. Highly recommend, especially for lunch. 🥡✨“

“As someone who really tries to avoid chains, it's fantastic to have this little Chinese takeout place close by. It's family-owned since... forever (I've been coming here since 1998), the food is great (not gourmet, but that's not the idea, either), and the service is courteous and speedy. I love this place!“

“Dumpling Wei is the absolute best! I've literally worked through the menu and everything has been incredibly tasty! My favorites rank among the Garlic Eggplant, Mapo Tofu with Ground Pork, Pork Xiao Long Bao, Pork Wontons in Chili Oil, Sautéed Bok Choy, Cucumber Salad and so many others!!
💰 plan to spent $20/ person because there are so many options you will likely get 2 each
🚗 Parking is available but the lot is difficult to navigate for nervous drivers. Be prepared.
✨️Language barriers have never been an issue when ordering here!!! Dont hesitate to try a new/ different cuisine!! ✨️“

“I had been looking forward to trying out panda inn and they did not disappoint. From the classic decorum; fantastic service and most delicious food the hardest decision was what two entrees to order as I was dining alone. I will be back with friends so that we can try more dishes!!“

“I was staying at a nearby hotel and decided to come here. I have to say, the chicken in black bean sauce, kinda slaps. It’s a bit of an unassuming joint, and more of a takeout spot, but they do have plenty of seating. Definitely coming again next time I’m in the area! 👍🏾👍🏾“

“Stopped here for a quick bite to eat in between classes. Ordered the braised pork belly rice bowl and spring rolls. “We ordered catering for a large birthday party (around 16 people) and were very happy with not only the food, but our whole experience. We called during lunch hour 2 days before and Mary took our number to call us back. She took our order and was willing to accommodate the large party/order, even though it wasn't listed specifically on their menu. When my husband arrived to pick up the order, everything was ready on time, fresh, and hot! He mentioned that upon picking up the order he met a nice and thankful staff. Our guests were very happy with the food and we had tons of leftovers for our guests to enjoy even after the party. Definitely recommend and sending a big THANK YOU!!“

“you're a fan of authentic Chongqing-style hotpot, this place is a must-visit. The broth is deeply flavorful — bold, spicy, and numbing in all the right ways. We ordered the beef tripe, sliced beef, and duck intestines, all cooked perfectly. Mountain House vibes but make it Sichuan“

“We visited LA for a day and chose this cute little restaurant in highland park, and it was amazing! “Authentic Filipino. We ordered the Maki without noodles (9.50), Miki Bihon (9.50), Kikiam 2pcs (12.50). Paid around $40 including 3 canned drinks. Order the Kikiam. It was so good and really reminded us of home. The miki bihon was legit as well. I liked the Maki but my dad said it should not have ginger in it. Must try little hole in the wall.“
“Cantonese approved authentic restaurant!
The Singapore char siu reminds me of a famous dish back in hometown and it's the closest I can find in the state at Kue's. I love the tenderness and not oily fat part, which is very rare and hard to find in pork dishes.
Love the taishan style eel clay pot rice too, very big portions, we usually order when we just got to the restaurant because it takes a longer time to cook.
House chicken salad is not bad, i think it's a bit fusion with the pickled ginger.
Sui chow king is another one that i like, especially the deep fried tarot with a lot of dried fish.
The servers are nice, they would help mixing and serving rices, soups etc.“

“I came here this past Friday, Feb. 20th, for an event hosted by the SoCal Boba Run Club in which they had line dancing, mahjong and for the last hour or so (12am till 1am), a rave. The whole event was incredibly fun and well put together, the ambiance was semi well lit up during the first few hours and then the lights were fully dimmed down for the last hour (during the rave part). The staff was friendly, courteous and professional, some even helped some friends and I learn the basics of mahjong. As for food, I was too busy dancing, talking to people and trying to learn mahjong, so all I had was a soda and it was great. Will definitely be back for any future events. 10/10 venue.“
