“I googled "best Chinese in LA" and then this popped up as the #1 place. So we drove - and had a very good meal. However, if you expect the classic Chinese dishes, you will be disappointed. This is Shezuan, "a different animal". So no rice, no sweet-and-sour-this-and-that. So be prepared for very spicy Szechuan food. Noodles. No rice. Try the dumplings, they were delicious. We ordered mild (1 out of 5 spice degrees) and we were burning inside (we had two separate orders of dumplings - but spice grade 1. There is no consistency, so be careful). So if spicy is what you are "in" for, you'll love it. The ambiance is sort of authentic ;-) - the sign on how to use the toilet (outside the restaurant in the alley) says more than words. But then, it was $100 all-in for the four of us only. My advice: I could barely understand the service language. Better check the menu before you go. As we were first-timers, I wanted to share three starters and three mains among the four of us and leave it up to the waitress to make us explore - she did not understand. I asked if they served beer. The answer was "noodles or dumplings". :-)“

“Tried Vege Valley Restaurant recently and honestly it was a good surprise. I’m not even strictly vegetarian but the food was really flavorful and fresh. Ordered noodles and a veggie dish both were well cooked and not too oily, which I liked.

There was an old couple working there, very friendly. Price was reasonable, highest it goes was $13 for the house special noodle. Overall a great place to try something new and unique.“

My favorite dish is definitely the lamb ribs they're incredibly tender, flavorful, and practically fall off the bone. Even someone who doesn't normally enjoy lamb would probably appreciate how well they're cooked here. I also tried the milk tea and really enjoyed it. The regular version was great, although I wasn't a fan of the salty milk tea since it just wasn't my personal taste.
The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, so seating can feel a bit limited during busy times. However, the food more than makes up for it. This explains the crowds on a Thursday afternoon...young people know this place....our venerated elders know this place...balancing prices, volume without sacrificing quality. Just don't look too closely at the stained chairs...or the rolling carts....it's what's in the steamers that matters. Also don't expect happy servers, especially the men attendants...its all business with them, no time for friendly effort, no smiles....but there were some cart ladies who don't ignore you, and are friendly and helpful...slip them some cash so we teach the others that good service with a smile pays, but yo...friendliness is a bonus, not a necessity....especially at these prices. Go for the awesome dim sum and smile at the cost....and be sure to order the sesame balls...unbelievably hot crispy on the outside, gooey yummiest on the inside....best sesame seed balls around. 10/5 also excellent is the beef balls 5/5, the tripe 5/5, the savory pineapple bbq pork 5/5, the bbq pork pastry triangle 5/5....the Chinese tamale., also excellent 5/5. Basically, all the dim sum is 5/5.“

“So my first ever tasted experience of chicken feet was at this place. And I truly am spoiled after this. They debone the chicken feet so it’s all beautiful cartilage and connecting tissues, which is super important if you’re trying to rebuild cartilage in your joints, the collagen and chicken feed is also very good for your skin and helps you stay looking younger. I got the spicy onion sauce and it was absolutely delicious. A week or two after this I tried chicken feet for the second time and it had bones in it and it was gross. It was like eating a baby’s hand. No one was spoiled that I can never have chicken feet with bones in it. I must have chicken feet that are deboned. They also offer other items such as lotus root, sliced pig, ear, and other things you would expect at a true/authentic Chinese take out. If you’ve ever had chicken feet, I would definitely suggest you start with Debo chicken feet from Tao’s kitchen“

“Was around the area so decided to grab lunch and it wasn't as great as before. We ordered the seafood egg noodle and seafood white noodle, both lacked flavor. I had to add satay sauce to make it taste a bit better. The ice water glasses were dirty as well. I don't know if it's under new owners or new chefs but it wasn't that great. Good thing it was a cheap lunch.“

“Waited 45 in the morning for a table. Best deal is the morning before 11am. You get additional carbs like donut, fried noodles, pineapple bun etc with the combo, and drinks are 1.50 extra. Pork chop and chicken steak is crispy and tender. Kid liked the fried noodles and rice noodles in sesame sauce is good. Porridge is good. Pineapple bun with butter the best, cold butter in warm buns.“

This place has been around for over a decade, right by the TAWA plaza.

We got there right when they opened in the afternoon, and the place filled up almost instantly. Most people seemed like regulars.

$33.88 gets you AYCE hot pot + a buffet station + sauces. Same price on weekends, and they don't charge extra for broth. The soup base is surprisingly good – has that nourishing, slightly herbal vibe. Reminded me of the old Little Sheep.

Plenty of options. Lamb and beef are a must – fresh. The pork intestine gets super soft and sticky after a quick boil – I wanted a second plate. The buffet had sesame balls, spring rolls, piggy buns, fries, edamame… the cha siu bao actually tasted like dim sum from a cart.

We also ordered scallion pancake on the side – super crispy. Almost asked for another one to take home.

Service speed is probably the fastest I've seen for AYCE. Food comes quick. Open till midnight – great for late-night cravings. And if you're staying at the Hilton? Literally across the street.“

I called and ordered at 1130am, they had lunch special prices for the bento and dishes, I ordered the Singapore Fry Vermicelli, Honey Roast BBQ Pork rice set, Popcorn Chicken, Salt & Pepper Fried Tofu, Garlic Sauce Eggplant and Fish Cutlet w/ house tartar, also ordered 2 drinks (Jasmine Tea and milk tea for 1.75ea). All of these for $67. If it is not for the lunch special prices, I will not think it is worth it. But because of the lunch special, I do think they are worth it. The food is pretty decent and tasty, however, the vermicelli has way too much curry powder, that's why it is so yellowish in the picture. To get the lunch special prices, you do have to call, online will not have those prices. Chao's also serves a family dinner menu that has different types of dishes every night. You can order for 2, 3 or 4 people, and their price is very reasonable, I am definitely going to try them next month.“

“Recently visited King’s Congee and was seriously impressed. The seafood congee was packed with fresh ingredients — lobster, crab, scallops, and shrimp all cooked perfectly. The broth was rich, flavorful, and had that slow-cooked taste you can only get from a kitchen that takes congee seriously.

We also tried the pigeon congee and the morel mushroom congee, both of which were excellent. Every bowl arrived piping hot and loaded with ingredients, not just rice and broth like many other places.

The side dishes were just as memorable. The braised pork feet were tender and full of flavor, the century egg tofu was refreshing, and the duck wings were perfectly seasoned.

What stood out most was the quality and freshness of the seafood. You can actually see the live seafood selection, which explains why everything tasted so fresh. Portions were generous, service was friendly, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable.

If you’re looking for authentic Cantonese-style congee with premium ingredients, this place is absolutely worth a visit. We’ll definitely be back to try more dishes.“

“The Northeastern flavor of braised delicacies, my husband and I packed a lot and took them back to the San Francisco Bay Area. I just got home and ate Harbin red sausage and smoked chicken rack. The taste is exactly the same as what is sold in our hometown in Shenyang. Why is it not available in the Bay Area? The red sausage meat is moderately salty and has a light garlic aroma, which is so rare. The same goes for the smoked chicken rack, which is not salty and has a full flavor of five-spice smoke. I'm looking forward to bringing back the pork head meat, because pork head meat is difficult to cook and requires a lot of effort to shave off the hair. I heard that the two owners are both from Shenyang. I hope that a store like this can be opened in Los Angeles for a long time, because the Chinese restaurants in Los Angeles are really bad. If this store opened in the Bay Area, it would kill other stores in a matter of seconds.“

My party had the wonton noodle soup with beef, Malaysian Fried rice, and Pork chop with Peking sauce. We were greatly pleased with our food, and our favorites were the wontons and pork chops. I will say that the fried rice, for my party’s taste, was a little too light on flavor. We were pretty satisfied and full, and happy with the price. Will say it’s slightly unkept but that’s understandable and not too much, staff isn’t very overly or hospitalizing but that’s not surprising, and they get the job done. If you need something and ask for something, they’ll give it to you. In general, just don’t expect a lot of attention, even in other Asian restaurants like these too. Atmosphere was nice, felt similar to how it is back in my homeland as well. My Chinese uncle who’s a big eater would probably like this. I will say that paying in cash is probably better, but card is also okay here.“

“I ordered the Sichuan Spicy Beef, and it was really good. The soup was flavorful and spicy, and the beef was tender. I also liked the shredded tofu inside because it soaked up the soup very well. The portion was good for the price, and the food came out hot and fresh. I would definitely order it again.“

“This place is now owned by a couple who is very nice and honest to customers. They make great chicken deli takeout and chili pepper and garlic paste which I never tasted or even knew both before!

Bouncy chicken skin and flesh and even savory bones... Chicken savory is given back to chicken to the most by pretty simple ingredients which I only tasted salt...

“Tried New Golden Soup for their $12 lunch entree deals (at the time of this review) on Mother's Day. All pictured but the scallop (fantastic flavor) were part of the deal. I thought, for the price and portion size (we had 4 people in our group), everything was solid and my fave dish was the salt and pepper shrimp which I typically have high standards for.

However, my family won't go back for the following: our chicken clay pot (I forgot to snag a photo) was undercooked. I'm sure the holiday rush was a factor. They reheated the food for us but that was a deal breaker for my family.

I went straight at opening (11 am) got a table and was served right away. I'm glad we did because the restaurant got swamped a half an hour later. Really hard to get any staffer's attention after that, which I get. Food was good, until the clay pot!“

“Grew up eating at Sam Woo and we happen to be in the area to try this location for dinner on a Sunday evening. I think it's my favorite so far. So glad that it was recommended to us!

We were a party of 7 and were seated right away. Service was excellent! Very friendly and attentive staff. We were given complimentary ice tea too.
We really enjoyed the dishes that we ordered. The food came out very quickly. The beef chow fun and the chicken with salty fish fried rice were my favorites. Though the won ton noodle soup and the seafood fried noodles dishes were also delicious.
At the end of the meal, we were each given a red bean dessert as well! Portions were large and their prices are still reasonable. We will definitely come back if we are in the area again!“

They have a wide selections of vegetarian and meat appetizers, ranging from seaweed and dried tofu, to pig ears and gizzards.

They have one standard size of to go boxes, and you can pick 1-3 either vegetarian or meat items for each box, the vegetarian box is $11.04 and meat box is $15.46 with tax.

Service is prompt, the appetizers lasts a few days in the frig and taste is delicious!
