“Ever since some of my favorite restaurants have closed down, I have been looking for my next regular place to get some lamb and pita soup. After a long shift at the hospital, I Decided to give this place a try and it did not disappoint
Their lamb and pita soup is really delicious as well as their crispy, spice intestine and their cumin lamb burger
Their staff is friendly and the food comes out in a timely manner“

“We ordered the sauerkraut fish and the portion size was huge. It was more than enough for two people, and we still had a lot of leftovers to take home. The flavor was really good--savory, tangy, and comforting without being overwhelming.
We also tried the quail eggs, which were battered and fried. They were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and honestly super tasty. Perfect little bite-sized snacks.
Overall, great portions, solid flavors, and definitely worth it if you're hungry or want leftovers for later. Would come back again!“

“Absolutely the most beautiful fine dining Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles! It is very modern in design.. the ambience is very elegant..which is so different from the outside.. located in a mediocre location in a boring small shopping mall. It was a turn off for me and that was why it took me so long to go there. Food was also delicious.. it is more expensive and perhaps that is why is fine dining.. perfect for a special date!“

“I googled "best Chinese in LA" and then this popped up as the #1 place. So we drove - and had a very good meal. However, if you expect the classic Chinese dishes, you will be disappointed. This is Shezuan, "a different animal". So no rice, no sweet-and-sour-this-and-that. So be prepared for very spicy Szechuan food. Noodles. No rice. Try the dumplings, they were delicious. We ordered mild (1 out of 5 spice degrees) and we were burning inside (we had two separate orders of dumplings - but spice grade 1. There is no consistency, so be careful). So if spicy is what you are "in" for, you'll love it. The ambiance is sort of authentic ;-) - the sign on how to use the toilet (outside the restaurant in the alley) says more than words. But then, it was $100 all-in for the four of us only. My advice: I could barely understand the service language. Better check the menu before you go. As we were first-timers, I wanted to share three starters and three mains among the four of us and leave it up to the waitress to make us explore - she did not understand. I asked if they served beer. The answer was "noodles or dumplings". :-)“

“Went here for lunch and they have a great deal for lunch special and good for 2 ppl. We ordered the fish pot and the fish was so fresh and tender. The roasted duck ChengDu style is my favorite! The service was great and we enjoyed dinning in.“

“Very nice small restaurant selling specialty noodles and some side items. The potato noodles have a firmer texture, kinda like soba, the soup was delicious. Chicken bone was also very good. There was an old couple working there, very friendly. Price was reasonable, highest it goes was $13 for the house special noodle. Overall a great place to try something new and unique.“

“Flat 5 dollar dim sum on the weekend , great for large groups. Great to introduce people to dim sum, but if you want high quality, you are going to a different location. Don't expect much from the decor since it's in a large banquet hall“

“This new location seems smaller than their previous spot. Doesn't seem they're fully set up yet as we got disposable bowls for rice and individual disposable cups for hot tea ($1.50 per person).
Food is still consistent though! Mushroom in brown sauce ($12.95), vege fish in brown sauce ($12.50), and tofu pumpkin hot pot ($12.95) are still good choices and they're all on the lunch special menu!
Surface level parking in the plaza gets congested very easily, so try the 2 levels of underground parking for more spots.“

“Authentic Sichuan flavors, finally. The catering worked out really well for a small gathering, big bold heat but not just spicy for no reason. Mapo tofu had that deep numbing kick, veggies still had some crunch. Friendly, low‑key communication, everything on time, no fuss.“
“The food here is absolutely delicious and always fresh! The restaurant is very clean and well-kept, which makes the whole dining experience even better. Friendly service and great taste every time — highly recommend this place to anyone looking for tasty and hygienic food!“

“Last night I tried the pork cartilage rice combo, and it was a pleasant surprise. The pork was tender and juicy, and the portion size was very reasonable. They also have a great variety of classic Asian dishes—I’m excited to come back and try more. Glad I found this spot!“

“Got here on 2/15 9:30 am. There was a couple of minute wait.
Service was good, they took our orders right away and the food arrived. However, the pineapple bun took forever to arrived. It was more than 40 minutes and everyone finished their porridge/noodles when the sandwich arrived. This pineapple bun was underwhelming and not worth the wait. Will not get it again.“

“I stumbled across this restaurant with my dad randomly, and it quickly became a weekly stop. I like getting the rib and shank (+grilled) rice dish + extra grilled ribs. Texture and flavor is amazing. I brought my mom another time and she was surprised as to how authentic the rice was to the region this dish was from.
Highly recommended! It's a little pricey but absolutely worth it. I've been having trouble finding food my dad will eat so I'm incredibly grateful that my dad actually likes this place. The rice dish comes with lamb soup, pickled onions and carrots that are all refillable as well.“

“This has become my favorite Chinese BBQ place recently! Very authentic and their skewers are always fresh and fragant with their charcoal grilled fumes. Their grilled fish is one of my favorite dish as well, comes with sorted veggies in it, fish was very fresh.“

“Drive by Chao's Food the other day and my wife suggested giving it a try. I called and ordered at 1130am, they had lunch special prices for the bento and dishes, I ordered the Singapore Fry Vermicelli, Honey Roast BBQ Pork rice set, Popcorn Chicken, Salt & Pepper Fried Tofu, Garlic Sauce Eggplant and Fish Cutlet w/ house tartar, also ordered 2 drinks (Jasmine Tea and milk tea for 1.75ea). All of these for $67. If it is not for the lunch special prices, I will not think it is worth it. But because of the lunch special, I do think they are worth it. The food is pretty decent and tasty, however, the vermicelli has way too much curry powder, that's why it is so yellowish in the picture. To get the lunch special prices, you do have to call, online will not have those prices. Chao's also serves a family dinner menu that has different types of dishes every night. You can order for 2, 3 or 4 people, and their price is very reasonable, I am definitely going to try them next month.“

“The Northeastern flavor of braised delicacies, my husband and I packed a lot and took them back to the San Francisco Bay Area. I just got home and ate Harbin red sausage and smoked chicken rack. The taste is exactly the same as what is sold in our hometown in Shenyang. Why is it not available in the Bay Area? The red sausage meat is moderately salty and has a light garlic aroma, which is so rare. The same goes for the smoked chicken rack, which is not salty and has a full flavor of five-spice smoke. I'm looking forward to bringing back the pork head meat, because pork head meat is difficult to cook and requires a lot of effort to shave off the hair. I heard that the two owners are both from Shenyang. I hope that a store like this can be opened in Los Angeles for a long time, because the Chinese restaurants in Los Angeles are really bad. If this store opened in the Bay Area, it would kill other stores in a matter of seconds.“
“Besides the obvious problems with finding a parking spot on the weekend, Quantong Square is a terrific place for shopping, dining and hanging out with your friends and relatives. It offers a variety of restaurants and shopping options. I really love the diverse products and services this shopping center offers to the visitors and customers.“

“Had a nice meal at Huo Zhou Wang Porridge. The seafood porridge was filled with crab, abalone, scallops, shrimp, and clams, and the porridge itself was smooth and comforting. We also enjoyed the pork porridge, which was simple and kid-friendly. Service was friendly, food came out promptly, and the complimentary pickled vegetables were a nice addition. Perfect for a cool or rainy day when you're craving something warm and comforting.“

“Food was amazing, tastes and feels authentic with all the people, the aunties and little kids, the uncles laughing around, you can see that people like it. My party had the wonton noodle soup with beef, Malaysian Fried rice, and Pork chop with Peking sauce. We were greatly pleased with our food, and our favorites were the wontons and pork chops. I will say that the fried rice, for my party’s taste, was a little too light on flavor. We were pretty satisfied and full, and happy with the price. Will say it’s slightly unkept but that’s understandable and not too much, staff isn’t very overly or hospitalizing but that’s not surprising, and they get the job done. If you need something and ask for something, they’ll give it to you. In general, just don’t expect a lot of attention, even in other Asian restaurants like these too. Atmosphere was nice, felt similar to how it is back in my homeland as well. My Chinese uncle who’s a big eater would probably like this. I will say that paying in cash is probably better, but card is also okay here.“

“This place is now owned by a couple who is very nice and honest to customers. They make great chicken deli takeout and chili pepper and garlic paste which I never tasted or even knew both before!
Bouncy chicken skin and flesh and even savory bones... Chicken savory is given back to chicken to the most by pretty simple ingredients which I only tasted salt...
However the specialty Beef rice noodle didn't meet my suppose I'd like to try braised beef rice noodles and zongzi takeout next time“

“This place is a nice hidden find in SGV. It’s a standalone restaurant on a corner right off San Gabriel. Parking is limited to about 5-6 spaces behind the restaurant, but there’s plenty of street parking.
Restaurant is very clean, good amount of seating and nicely spaced out. From what I saw they seem to get a lot of take-out orders. Staff is very friendly and attentive.
Prices are very fair and affordable. Don’t expect anything fancy, but more of a home-cooked meal vibe. Portions are good too for what you are paying.
Now to the actual flavor of the food, it pretty delicious. We got the chicken wings for a side and they were really good, friend, juicy and well-seasoned. They did come out after our main dishes though, but not a big deal.
For our entrees, we got the beef brisket curry. Good rich curry flavor, spicier than we expected, but enjoyable. I do with they served a bit more sauce or added some to the top of the rice to add more flavor. Good amount of brisket, though there’s a lot more tendon pieces than we’d like for being advertised as beef brisket
The other item we got was the spiced beef brisket plate. Sauce was delicious, mixed in with the rice. It was a great comfort meal. Again, a lot more tendon than what I expected. I’m not the biggest fan of tendon so I was really expecting to have meatier pieces than tendon. I also wanted more veggies to go with it.
I think we should’ve ordered one of their veggie dishes since that’s what felt missing from our meal.
We’ll be back when we’re craving a nice quick meal with quality food. I’ll try other items next time that has less tendon like their spare ribs. Also looking forward to trying their popcorn chicken and Hainan chicken since those looked good too.“

“Tried New Golden Soup for their $12 lunch entree deals (at the time of this review) on Mother's Day. All pictured but the scallop (fantastic flavor) were part of the deal. I thought, for the price and portion size (we had 4 people in our group), everything was solid and my fave dish was the salt and pepper shrimp which I typically have high standards for.
However, my family won't go back for the following: our chicken clay pot (I forgot to snag a photo) was undercooked. I'm sure the holiday rush was a factor. They reheated the food for us but that was a deal breaker for my family.
I went straight at opening (11 am) got a table and was served right away. I'm glad we did because the restaurant got swamped a half an hour later. Really hard to get any staffer's attention after that, which I get. Food was good, until the clay pot!“

“Was around the area so decided to grab lunch and it wasn't as great as before. We ordered the seafood egg noodle and seafood white noodle, both lacked flavor. I had to add satay sauce to make it taste a bit better. The ice water glasses were dirty as well. I don't know if it's under new owners or new chefs but it wasn't that great. Good thing it was a cheap lunch.“

“This review is just for the amazing selection of appetizer/cold dishes as we didn’t have a chance to try out their noodles and other foods.
They have a wide selections of vegetarian and meat appetizers, ranging from seaweed and dried tofu, to pig ears and gizzards.
They have one standard size of to go boxes, and you can pick 1-3 either vegetarian or meat items for each box, the vegetarian box is $11.04 and meat box is $15.46 with tax.
Service is prompt, the appetizers lasts a few days in the frig and taste is delicious!
Parking: located in the same shopping center as the 168 Market, there are plenty of free parking.“

“Hidden hot pot gem – $33.88 AYCE and actually good
This place has been around for over a decade, right by the TAWA plaza.
We got there right when they opened in the afternoon, and the place filled up almost instantly. Most people seemed like regulars.
$33.88 gets you AYCE hot pot + a buffet station + sauces. Same price on weekends, and they don't charge extra for broth. The soup base is surprisingly good – has that nourishing, slightly herbal vibe. Reminded me of the old Little Sheep.
Plenty of options. Lamb and beef are a must – fresh. The pork intestine gets super soft and sticky after a quick boil – I wanted a second plate. The buffet had sesame balls, spring rolls, piggy buns, fries, edamame… the cha siu bao actually tasted like dim sum from a cart.
We also ordered scallion pancake on the side – super crispy. Almost asked for another one to take home.
Service speed is probably the fastest I've seen for AYCE. Food comes quick. Open till midnight – great for late-night cravings. And if you're staying at the Hilton? Literally across the street.“
