“Everything about this dining experience was perfect. I've never had that before, where literally every box is checked...

Every single item we ordered blew our minds with how tasty they were. It was truly a one-of-a-kind experience.

We were traveling from Utah and were in that town accidentally. We wandered in to the closest restaurant nearby and were not at all prepared for how nice this was. Even though we were not looking our best from a long day on the road, we were treated kindly and even had nice conversation with the owner.

This is now on our must list EVERY time we come to California!“

“One of the BEST eating experiences I've ever had.
Not only had I never been here before,
But I had never tried Szechuan food.

I'm not local to this area, but my friends one day were raving about this place. We drove over 40 minutes to go here,
And honestly I didn't expect too much,
Just wanted to hang with the boys,
But once I took my first bite-
Wwwaaaaoooooowww. I was SO surprised at how unique and delicious this flavor was.

We ordered a lamb plate, where they served it with toothpicks, I'm uncertain of the name of the dish,
But my goodness. It was one of the best things I've eaten. I love spice, and this was spice in such a unique way that I had never had before. My lips were numb, not in an uncomfortable way, but in a truly exciting way as far as a food experience is.

We also got other plates,
But to me the clear stand out was the lamb dish with the toothpicks.

If this place was any closer,
I'd be paying rent there, eating there like 3 times a week 😂

The staff is friendly and extremely accommodating, attentive, and helpful.

Our dishes came with this lovely tea, and perfectly steamed rice.

It was such a satisfying experience all around that I had to write this review to support their business.

Now, I don't think I'll be able to eat Szechuan food anywhere else and honestly- I am not upset about that.

If you haven't tried this hidden gem,
It's with the trip out to experience it.

Parking is... Horrible honestly, the restaurant faces a busy street,
But even still,
It's absolutely worth going here.

Bring anyone who's like me and hasn't tried Szechuan before,
And they'll be just as happy with their experience as I was.

Look forward to coming back here in the future.“

“I’ve been coming to Savoy Kitchen for a long time, and it’s still one of my go-to spots in the area. We ordered a spread of classics during our last visit, and while the food is still generally good, a few things felt a bit different this time around.

The Hainan Chicken Rice is what put them on the map. The chicken itself remains incredibly tender and juicy, and the trio of sauces still hits the spot. However, the chicken-to-rice ratio was definitely off on this visit—there was a mountain of rice but a pretty small portion of chicken. More importantly, the rice lacked that incredibly rich, savory chicken broth flavor that used to make Savoy stand out from every other spot. It tasted a bit more muted than before.

Luckily, the other dishes we tried held up their end of the bargain:

The Bread: Served fresh and nicely seasoned, though it was on the denser side rather than being light and airy. Still good for snacking on or soaking up extra sauce, just heavier than expected.

Chicken Pasta: A comforting, simple dish with plenty of tender chicken strips tossed in a light, savory broth.

BBQ Chicken Pizza: Generously topped with thick slices of chicken, red onions, and plenty of melted cheese.

Savoy is still a classic, and the meal overall was satisfying. I just really hope they bring back that signature richness to the chicken rice and balance out the portions again!“

“Food is good. Service is nonexistent, and the wait staff can be a little rude.

We ordered an abalone porridge and then afterward they came back saying they ran out of porridge, which is surprising for a spot named The Porridge. “Ordered the Bacalli triple...its a meal for 4 on one plate. Huge new york steak, charbroil grilled, great grill markings and charcoall taste, not overwhelming..10/5 The server asked me for the temp for the steak, i asked for medium, got medium. 👌 comes with chicken steak and a huge bone-in pork chop. A big portion of pasta. And veggies. All of it came home in a doggie bag, soooo good can't wait to find tasty ways to use the baccali triple at home. This place is all about quality, and value....the portion sizes will make your haw drop. Mom got the roasted hen with ha nan rice. I thought the roasted chicken was tender and juicy even though it looked dry, it didn't eat dry. The rice was well flavored but the rice was only lukewarm and kinda hard 3/5. Severs were fast and friendly...plus it's got tvs everywhere tuned to sporting events...mom was able to watch her

“This quaint spot was on a list of authentic Chinese food in our area. The competition is fierce in Alhambra and the Bamboo Harden held its own. First of all, the server/owner/husband wanted to upsell everything. There were only two of us, but we were there to support the small business community so we ended ordering four dishes all over $16 each.
Delicious vegetables, cooked perfectly and the sauces mixed in to the dishes were truly authentic tasting. I recommend what is pictured. Even the egg drop soup was really good. Parking is easy and if you don’t mind his wife watching reels on her phone at a high volume then you’ll enjoy a nice lunch or dinner. Also, there are specials for $21.95, but he said they were small portions and we should order off the entrees.“

“Sam Woo BBQ in Alhambra has always been one of my favorite spots whenever I'm craving wonton noodles and Cantonese BBQ. While some dishes can be hit or miss, most of the food is consistently good.

We visited on Sunday and ordered the Yang Chow fried rice, a two-item BBQ combination rice platter (roasted duck and roasted pork), sweet and sour pork, and chicken chow mein.

This time, the Yang Chow fried rice was our favorite. It was flavorful and the highlight of the meal. The chicken chow mein, however, was a bit too salty, and the chicken itself tasted bland. The sweet and sour pork was decent and enjoyable. The BBQ combination platter was a little disappointing, as both the roasted duck and roasted pork portions seemed smaller than usual and didn't have much meat.

Even though the restaurant was busy over the weekend, the service was still friendly and attentive, which we really appreciated.“

“Food good. Service good. Ambiance good. However, don't look in the kitchen when walking to the restroom.

Came here on Christmas Day with group of seven. It was my first time and the place was big with many tables and booths. The service was good and friendly. We ordered:
- Chinese Green in Supreme Soup
- Salt Pepper Pork Ribs
- Salted w/ Tofu
- Fried geoduck
- Geoduck veggie mix
- Lobster w/ garlic noodles

My favorite was the salted chicken w/ tofu - perfect savory sauce on rice. The day was going great until the last moment. As I made my way to the restroom, which was not the greatest cleaning, kitchen is open to look when walking down the hallway. Lets just say I am on fence to go back here after seeing that kitchen. While most of us are not surprised since traditional asian restaurant, kitchen could still be better. Now I'm curious whats really salted in my favorite dish...“

“Kang Kang Food Court has been around for a very long time. Very causal ambiance type of price.
On this visit, I ordered their famous Shanghai Pan Fried Pork Buns ($14.47). I've been eating these since I was in high school. Back then, it was one of the best things I had ever eaten, and the price was about half of what it is now. Even though the price has gone up over the years, the buns still taste just as good, and I still crave them from time to time. They are made to order, so if you're in a hurry, it's a good idea to call ahead. These are not fine dining pork bun with thin dough, but more like home style pork buns.

I also picked up the Baked Pork Moon Cake ($25.40), which is usually available around the Mid-Autumn Festival season. It has a savory pork filling wrapped in a crispy, flaky crust. For people who don't enjoy traditional sweet mooncakes, this is a great alternative.

Another thing I noticed is that they have a large selection of frozen items. I'm already planning my next visit to try the 50-piece Xiao Long Bao package for $23.

During my visit, many customers were ordering the combo specials. The 4-item combo with soup and rice was only $11.83, and the dishes looked surprisingly decent for the price.

Parking is available in the plaza behind the restaurant. The ordering process is simple: go to the register, place your order, pay, and wait for your food.

Overall, Kang Kang remains a reliable spot for classic Shanghai-style comfort food and a nostalgic favorite that has stood the test of time.“
