“My family has been coming here for years and we've loved it every single time.

We just visited recently and I wanted to share our experience. Our server was incredibly helpful with our questions and knowledgeable about the menu.

“First time trying Chong Yuen Fong Clay Pot Rice in Alhambra. The restaurant is conveniently located at the corner of Garfield and Valley Blvd, and there were plenty of parking spaces available in the lot. Inside, the ambiance is cozy and captures that classic Hong Kong-style cafe vibe with nice wall decor.
We tried the preserved duck and salted fish clay pot rice. While the overall flavor was on point, the preserved duck and salted fish just weren't to my personal taste. However, we absolutely loved the lotus leaf steamed rice with chicken, mushroom, and minced pork! We also opted for the $5 soup add-on; it was loaded with plenty of ingredients, though it arrived a bit bland, so we had to add some salt. To finish the meal, the Portuguese egg tarts were absolutely delicious!
Service here is minimal, as you order via a QR code at the table and pay at the cashier once you finish your meal. Overall, a solid spot with some great highlights.“

“I think the most popular and best this year is the pho with a beef rib. Otherwise I would say everything else is pretty much what you would expect from a solid Vietnamese restaurant. Quality of the food is fresh and good but I wouldn't say it stands out from other places in the area. I've had their bun which was very good, and their pho, which was also quite good. I don't think anyone will be disappointed with the quality of service and food here though I think there are some other spots that stand out more.“

“Took my mom to try Kopan Sushi & Ramen on Main Street in Alhambra this past Sunday. They have a rear parking lot, but it’s a bit on the smaller side. Luckily, I managed to snag the very last spot. As soon as we walked in, we loved the ambiance. The decor gives off a great vibe that makes you feel like you're in Japan. The service was good too; the staff made us feel very welcome. We were both craving sushi rolls and were happy to find out they had a buy-one-get-one 50% off promotion on their special rolls. I ordered the Baked Scallop California Roll (BSCR) for my mom and the Dragon Roll for myself. The presentation was beautiful, and the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh and delicious. We had a great experience and will definitely be back to try their ramen and other menu items next time!“

“Had a yummy dinner with great service in a lovely setting. We love the hot and sour soup here and the lemon yuzu scallops are my absolute favorite! Love the beef rolls and the cauliflower dish too. Truffle xiao long bao are so fragrant and yummy! Everything is always delicious. The sticky rice drinks are so good too! One of my fav toppings anywhere! Always a delicious meal.“

“My only complaint was it was hard to speak to others at the table because the music was loud. The owner is a very sweet guy who comes to your table and gives new people samples of their drinks and popular Peruvian ice cream .He proudly explains the popular dishes and their Peruvian ingredients. The staff, owner and food made this restaurant so classy! The homemade food was not only delicious but special. The owner gets his ingredients from and that are grown in Peru. It was fun to eat food with ingredients that is new and tasted sooo good! It was such a treat. The Peruvian ice cream made from Locuma fruit is actually nutritious! The chicha morada drink also is different and beneficial.

“Broth was delicious. The deep umami and subtlety of clam notes made the ramen stock special. Adding the sides they offer like, garlic crisps, were a plus. However, in my opinion, I felt like the ramen noodles did not give the dish its 100%. My partner said it was good overall and I am just slightly nitpicking due to personal preferences of noodles, which were too dense to my liking. I felt like the noodles took away the broth’s complexity rather than a nice balance. At the end I just kept drinking the soup. The chashu pork was tender and not dry at all.

Aside from the ramen, the appetizers such as the karaage, were crunchy and slightly juicy on the inside. The takoyaki was also nice as well.

Overall, the vibe of the restaurant felt cozy and modern, yet I wish they could have played some music to add a little more atmosphere. Service was prompt and quick.“

“The best Japanese curry in LA, and we have tried a lot of places, believe me!!! Has options for vegetarians and vegans too! The miso soup comes with a lot of the meals and it's so good too. The staff know us now and they are all lovely! It's pretty small inside so probably not the best for a super big group but great for a more intimate night out and of course take out as well!“

“Tried Vege Valley Restaurant recently and honestly it was a good surprise. I’m not even strictly vegetarian but the food was really flavorful and fresh. Ordered noodles and a veggie dish both were well cooked and not too oily, which I liked.
The place is simple perfect for a relaxed meal. Service was quick and staff were polite. Pricing also feels reasonable for the portion size.
Only small issue was parking, took a bit of time to find a spot. But overall definitely worth visiting if you want healthy and tasty veg food.“

“This place is a hidden gem. Unpretentious atmosphere and Japanese comfort food. Udons, ramen and my favorite... curry spaghetti! Its so delicious, I get a craving to go here fairly often. They make the curry in house, and its to die for. Staff is great and apart from the strip mall parking being full sometimes, there's really no down side.“

“A small, local hole in the wall for sure, tho it's just across irving middle school 🤩 I'm born and raised in Glendale, and I hate that I didn't notice this place sooner, as it's a bit hard to spot on the main street while driving.

My husband and I came for lunch. We ordered the Special pho and beef pho, which was about 18$ and 17$ with tax, and a thai tea. All were delicious, and portion size matched the price point 🫶🏽 I couldn't finish all of mine, but husband gobbled his down quick

The restaurant is quaint and the space small but not tight. There was plenty of seating indoors, and kept cool in the summer heat 👍🏼

“I love this place!!! Traveling North from OC area stopped to eat here. I read the reviews and thought I’d give it a try. These plates were so full of color, every bite was bursting with fresh delicious goodness!! I didn’t want to put the fork down 🤣 OH and let me mention the fork!!! The food is good, love the honey sesame chicken, the prices are fairly low compared to any food location around the area. They're very generous with the amount of protein they give too. “I was trying to take the godfather to the Vietnam kitchen down the street but they were closing up at 8:00 (!) and they told us that we could only get to go. Well. We wanted to talk and eat at a table. So we had both noticed this place on the way to VK . A very low-key restaurant with some high-grade beef noodle soup. Very tasty and there's a whole homemade feeling about the place which is very charming to me. A solid cucumber appetizer, the Szechuan vegetables were weirdly a little bland, or at least not as spicy or a sour as I was expecting. However, the Price is Right, the service is outstanding with it being what feels like a true mom-and-pop joint ( Bobby is the chef, and I suspect he's the pop, and looks much younger than his age), and I really like the fact that the menu was very simple. Even so I was tempted by other things on the menu, including the chicken curry, but they were out of chicken so I'll have to come back for that. Still I went with a specialty and I've been going to a lot of beef noodle soup places so I feel pretty strongly to judge that the broth was excellent. The vegetables were fresh and the meat was very good, if not as much as I wanted there to be. Overall the experience was outstanding and they were extremely hospitable, especially when we paid at 845 and I asked if they closed at 9:00 and they told us. They had closed 45 minutes earlier yet had hung around and gave no indication that we were to do anything, but enjoy our food. Very genteel and civilized. Thank you!“

“They were not joking when they called this comfort food. I was sick, and it was raining, so I wanted something warm and hearty. This place seemed like the obvious choice, and far exceeded my expectations. Food came out fast and blistering hot, but still perfect temperature to eat right away. It was somehow nostalgic, even though it was my first time trying this dish. The tofu was extremely soft, but held its shape well, and very flavorful from absorbing the liquid. It really felt like it cured by illness.

Portion size was also very generous, which is always important. The menu was also pretty varied, I could imagine coming back multiple times and trying something new each time.“

“Jin Hai / Beijing Pie House has gotten better over the years. The lamb and leeek meat pies arrived nice and crispy with ample soup inside. The lamb flavor was subtle and clean with a satisfying smattering of yellow leek.

The three ingredient dumplings (leek, pork, shrimp) were supple and balanced. The thick looking wrappers were deceptively supple with a bit of bite and flavor of the fillings sang a song of freshness.

Definitely one of the best Vietnamese home cooked meals at a restaurant in the area. The flavour is so authentic that can transport you back to the Southern of Vietnam (mien Tay) in a bite. We ordered the lunch set for family and cannot fault a thing. It came with canh chua, ca chien, goi tom thit, ca kho, bap cai chua. Flavour was mouth watering and all very good value for money. This is such a hidden gem. Highly recommend!“
