“The best spicy Chinese Food in OC/LA area hands down! They have been Michelin recommended for a reason. Their food has lots of depth of umami flavors with a good amount of spice with a refined touch. Their none spicy broths are especially good too. My faves are their dry pots, toothpick lambs, Qiao Jiao Beef. We also like their spicy ribs and boiled fish in chilli sauce, and Mao cai. Service is great too!“

“Lu Yi Xian is located in what looks like a office building. At first there looks like there's very limited parking (the entrance is on the north side on Valley Blvd), but there's actually more parking underground.

The main dining room is a bit small, but they have a secondary adjacent dining room. Not sure how large as I didn't go in there. The vibe is very mom and pop, clean, with some fun simple decorative touches.

The food however is the main standout of this place, especially the Beef Noodle. It's deliciously savory, slightly sweet and not the usual salt bomb that most noodle soups tend to be. The noodles are springy and have great bite, like al dente pasta. The vegetables are fresh, not overcooked. And the beef...oh the beef! It's wonderfully seasoned and braised until its silky and tender. Plus you get a very healthy portion of it. This is the main reason you should come here.

I also recommend the Tofu Skin with Cilantro. It's fragrant, simple, fresh and satisfying. If you order the potstickers, be warned that you get four but they are much much larger than most places. I ended up taking them to go.

All and all this place is well worth the price. It's not a super fancy place, but the food is fantastic.“

“One of the BEST eating experiences I've ever had.
Not only had I never been here before,
But I had never tried Szechuan food.

I'm not local to this area, but my friends one day were raving about this place. We drove over 40 minutes to go here,
And honestly I didn't expect too much,
Just wanted to hang with the boys,
But once I took my first bite-
Wwwaaaaoooooowww. I was SO surprised at how unique and delicious this flavor was.

We ordered a lamb plate, where they served it with toothpicks, I'm uncertain of the name of the dish,
But my goodness. It was one of the best things I've eaten. I love spice, and this was spice in such a unique way that I had never had before. My lips were numb, not in an uncomfortable way, but in a truly exciting way as far as a food experience is.

We also got other plates,
But to me the clear stand out was the lamb dish with the toothpicks.

If this place was any closer,
I'd be paying rent there, eating there like 3 times a week 😂

The staff is friendly and extremely accommodating, attentive, and helpful.

Our dishes came with this lovely tea, and perfectly steamed rice.

It was such a satisfying experience all around that I had to write this review to support their business.

Now, I don't think I'll be able to eat Szechuan food anywhere else and honestly- I am not upset about that.

If you haven't tried this hidden gem,
It's with the trip out to experience it.

Parking is... Horrible honestly, the restaurant faces a busy street,
But even still,
It's absolutely worth going here.

Bring anyone who's like me and hasn't tried Szechuan before,
And they'll be just as happy with their experience as I was.

“The best items we got here were definitely the dumplings, which are like soup dumplings, and the crispy pork buns which also had plenty of broth inside. I thought those were super unique, never had something like that before and I really enjoyed the crispiness of the bun. We also got the popcorn chicken which was fine, but a little bit oily and heavy to me, while the pork soup was very light and tasted very clean. Would definitely come here again, truly enjoyed the meal and it was uniquely Taiwanese.“

“This review is long overdue. I visited Alhambra several months ago and decided to eat at Xiang La Hui after weighing all of my dining options that evening. I'm glad I did because it was a great experience. Even after all of these months I'm still thinking about the food! Everything was hot, nicely plated, and tasted just right. Flavors were nicely balanced and entrees are sizable. I felt like I got my money's worth. The service was nice too. You feel welcomed as a customer and aren't rushed, which I appreciate.

If you live close to this restaurant, or are planning to visit or pass through Alhambra, then I recommend giving Xiang La Hui a try. I'd eat here more often if I could! I'll certainly go back someday.“

“Wanted to check this place out with my boyfriend. It was poppin on a Saturday night, which is a good sign. We got the house eggrolls, the Kobe syle beef pho and the Filet Mignon pho with the original noodle (you have an option for a fresh fatter noodle) Beyond delicious!!! The broth and meat was so flavorful
The service was very fast. I have a sensitive stomach so I probably should have avoided the egg rolls because I dont do well with certain oils and fried food but they were so freaking good. Definitely recommend this spot for amazing pho. The other dishes people were ordering that I was able to see looked really good too.“

Portion is very affordable, I ordered one bowl and ordered extra noodles and an empty bowl. It was perfect for my two kiddos to share!

I really wanted to try the calamari but it was sold out. So definitely gotta come back next time to try it.

They have good mix of long tables for bigger parties and small tables for 2-4ppl. They can adjust the level of saltiness of the ramen which is awesome! Never been to a ramen spot that has offered that before.

“If you are in the San Gabriel Valley area you must stop here if you want amazing Sashimi. Started with fatty Tuna that melted in my mouth so fresh delicious then moved on to giant Clams (Mirugai) it was sweet & crunchy I could have gone for second order not many sushi restaurants have (Mirugai)The fatty belly Salmon was buttery & the spicy Tuna hand roll sashimi was perfect coz I’m a spicy food addict it was just heavenly for me. Yum yum 🤤 ended with Kumamoto Oyster 🦪 it was so sweet like cotton candy in your mouth made me wanting more which I did order more. “I’ve been coming to Savoy Kitchen for a long time, and it’s still one of my go-to spots in the area. We ordered a spread of classics during our last visit, and while the food is still generally good, a few things felt a bit different this time around.

​The Hainan Chicken Rice is what put them on the map. The chicken itself remains incredibly tender and juicy, and the trio of sauces still hits the spot. However, the chicken-to-rice ratio was definitely off on this visit—there was a mountain of rice but a pretty small portion of chicken. More importantly, the rice lacked that incredibly rich, savory chicken broth flavor that used to make Savoy stand out from every other spot. It tasted a bit more muted than before.

​Luckily, the other dishes we tried held up their end of the bargain:

​The Bread: Served fresh and nicely seasoned, though it was on the denser side rather than being light and airy. Still good for snacking on or soaking up extra sauce, just heavier than expected.

​Chicken Pasta: A comforting, simple dish with plenty of tender chicken strips tossed in a light, savory broth.

​BBQ Chicken Pizza: Generously topped with thick slices of chicken, red onions, and plenty of melted cheese.

​Savoy is still a classic, and the meal overall was satisfying. I just really hope they bring back that signature richness to the chicken rice and balance out the portions again!“

“The Thursday - Sunday late evening/overnight staff is amazing! I've been coming here pretty much weekly since July 2021 and they have become like family, especially our regular server Lupe. The night manager is cool and when he gets on the stove his food is out of this world! Everywhere you go now a days is expensive but at least portions are large and shareable. I also would like to note that I love the antipasto salad and it doesn’t have only one meat as I read on one of the reviews.Also everywhere that has delivery service charges more when ordered on the app. Update: they are no longer charging for water. “Absolutely my favorite Chinese restaurant in Alhambra. It reminds me of the Chinese food I used to have when I was a kid in the 70s. Many long time customers come here and many younger customers as well. The service is fast. The food is served quickly and hot. However, they don’t rush you. You can take your time. Enjoy your meal and talk with your family or friends. Because the place is so great there are a lot of people and they are all talking and eating so it can be quite lively. I would highly recommend coming here for traditional old-school Chinese food.“

“12.02.23 We were in the area and I googled Filipino food and this one was top three on options to consider. Service was the best - kind, caring, and really nice front counter reps. Plenty of combo options to choose from and pics on the side walls are pretty good help. Not exactly sure how to rate Atmosphere because the restaurant is inside 99 Ranch market. It's pretty clean eating area which is across the order area and past the spacious entrance.“

I am very pleased with the amazing dim sum and the old-time atmosphere. The portion of food is huge and the price is reasonable. Definitely I’ll come back again!“
