“This is my go-to Indonesian restaurant whenever I’m in LA. I live in Colorado, but I travel here from time to time for business, and Wayang is always on my list.

The food is delicious and authentic, and I love that Ibu Lily makes most of it herself from scratch. She used to be a private chef for celebrities in Los Angeles, and you can definitely tell she knows her way around the kitchen. Everything I’ve had here has been full of flavor and thoughtfully prepared.

When I visited, Wayang was only taking to-go orders, but they still had a few tables set up for customers who preferred to eat there. It’s a self-serve setup, you grab your own water and utensils and eat from the takeout container. Honestly, I really liked the casual setup. Since the restaurant was set up for to-go service, Ibu Lily let me stay for as long as I wanted, which was perfect since I had a little work to get done. It made the whole experience feel relaxed and unhurried. This way, I had the chance to try several different dishes.

For me, that’s part of the charm of Wayang: authentic Indonesian food, made from scratch, without all the fuss—it feels like home. I’ll definitely be back.“

I enjoyed the stir fried veggies, oyster clay pot, crab fish maw soup and beef chow fun. The servers are very friendly and the restaurant is very spacious.“

“My wife and I found this gem of a place for lunch and we were very surprised with the quality. We arrived shortly after their opening hours and there were already plenty of diners inside. Service is quick, and staff is friendly as well.

We ordered their Pad Thai, Wonton Soup, and their Cream Cheese Rangoons to share. All 3 dishes came out at the same time, and wow the portions are pretty standard and fulfilling.

Cream Cheese Rangoons are not something I try often but I was very impressed with the quality and size. Each bite was super crunchy and super flavorful with the cream cheese adding the softness, very impressed. Highly recommend, 9/10.

The wonton soup (BBQ pork) was impressive. Although not like the standard ones, the portions are still pretty good. I was impressed with the flavoring as well. The broth wasn't too salty and the wontons were delicious. Highly recommend, 8.5/10.

Star of the show is definitely the Pad Thai. A classic dish at any Thai establishment and this place is no different. We were very impressed with the portions and the mix of egg noodles along with the other ingredients. Very flavorful and definitely a signature of the restaurant. Must order menu item, 10/10.

Overall, a wonderful restaurant with friendly and efficient staff. Interior is clean, spacious, and has plenty of tables. Very impressed with the food so my wife and I are definitely coming back another time to try other menu items.“
