“Came to KP Town Restaurant in Alhambra with my friend for lunch, and this place honestly reminded me of eating at a friend’s house in Hong Kong. Nothing fancy, just comforting Cantonese food done right.

They started us off with a complimentary homemade bitter melon soup, which was a nice touch.

For our appetizer, we ordered the combination of pan-fried tofu and bell peppers stuffed with minced fish. Everything was cooked well and seasoned perfectly without being overly salty.

We also ordered their iced lemon tea, and it was just as good as what you’d get at any traditional Hong Kong cafe. Definitely hit the spot!

Now here’s where we messed up. We ordered the steamed rice with preserved meats, thinking we were getting claypot rice. Turns out, they have an entirely separate menu for claypot rice that we completely missed. That’s on us for not reading the menu carefully!

The steamed rice was still delicious, though. The preserved meats were well seasoned, and the portions were generous.

We didn’t realize our mistake until my friend ordered claypot rice to go for her husband, and the server brought out the separate claypot rice menu. When she got home, her husband told her how fantastic it was, especially the crispy rice at the bottom. That’s when we realized we had ordered the wrong dish! Needless to say, we already know what we’re getting next time.

The ambiance is your typical casual Hong Kong-style cafe. Nothing upscale, but comfortable and relaxed.

Parking was easy with plenty of spaces available, which is always a plus when dining in the SGV.

Overall, KP Town is a solid spot for Cantonese comfort food with generous portions and balanced flavors. I’ll definitely be coming back, and next time I’m making sure to order from the actual claypot rice menu. I need to experience that crispy rice for myself!“

“I grew up eating here and the food is still so tasty. I love coming here for family dinners. It’s perfect for sharing and trying so many dishes. I enjoyed the stir fried veggies, oyster clay pot, crab fish maw soup and beef chow fun. The servers are very friendly and the restaurant is very spacious.“

I got here around 11:00 AM and waited in line for about 20 minutes. The line was mostly filled with older people speaking Cantonese, which told me right away that this place is super authentic!

The Beef Chow Fun is super flavorful and comes in a huge portion.
Their $12.99 breakfast combo is also a great deal with a huge portion—though it's pretty much pure carbs! And the best part is they still let you order it even after the breakfast hours.

You also get free refills on the Hong Kong style milk tea, and you can even take it to go for free. The iced version is the best, especially in the summer!

Unlike a lot of other places where the food is good but the service is terrible, the staff here is incredibly welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend!“

“This is my go to place for pickup and go dim sum. They don't speak a ton of English but they try. The food is always good and generally moderately priced. I love the seaweed rolls as well as the ham sui gok. Most issues you can't go wrong. If you want no nonsense dim sum that you can just grab and go this is a great place. They do have sit-down traditional dim sum style but it's pretty crowded and the place isn't very big.“

“Had dinner here on 9/24/26. The duck was delicious, as it always is. Also had a cod and tofu dish that was amazing. But I'm really writing this review for our server. She was the entire front of house, from serving tables to taking/packing to go orders to bussing her own tables. At the end of our meal she had 6 tables, including two parties of about 8 people (I didn't count.) She HUSTLED. Was service perfect, nope. Was she always smiling and happy, of course not. But she never gave up and she RAN from one task to the next. I hope the owners read this and appreciate what an amazing employee she is. “After a long day in Alhambra, we chose to explore Monterey Park for some dim sum and we stumbled upon Steam Fresh. Their menu is very straight forward with classic dim sum to choose from and more. Everything was so good and fresh! The drinks we got were amazing and the best part of them were free refills! “Pretty solid spot for congee cravings! I still have yet to try the rest of their menu but their food offerings look pretty decent. The restaurant is clean and the owners are pleasant. The only downside is the place is not ideal for bigger parties as there are about only 4 tables inside. We were also lucky to get parking from the front of the restaurant.“

“Quick, polite service and carts move around. Dim sum 4 plus on weekends. Eight steamers came to 50 plus tax and tip. Servers get for you what’s not in the carts yet if it’s in the kitchen. 2/person tea charge. Lobsters for 16.99 are very small though and 29.99 crab deal also not big. Duck special is alright but is worth two stamps. Place is packed on Sunday and waited about five minutes for a table.“

“Coming off a twenty two hour fast, their beef noodle soup was the bomb. I like most of the food served here. Some authentic Chinese I'm told andd some adjusted to western practices. Enjoy your experience their it's worth the money!“

“After coming to this spot with my partner, this spot has become one of my go to spots for to go type dim sum. They provide all the dim sum that you would find in regular dim sum restaurants including the signature dishes like shumai, har gow, cheung fun, chicken feet, etc.

Staff here is friendly and quick. Even though English is not some of the staffs languages, they do their best and understand pretty well.

The dim sum is as you expect from most places. Although this place is a bit cheaper than your usual sit down restaurant, food can differ at bit. I found that the chicken feet was a bit soggy and not fresh but it could be a anomaly from the order. The buns here are pretty sizeable and well made when it's fresh.

One thing to note is that there's a $1 extra charge for credit cards if your order is below $20.

Portions here are identical to your usual dim sum restaurants which is nice for a takeout spot. Super quick and convenient for a place that's to go and at a affordable price. This is the spot to visit if you want standard dim sum to go at an affordable price.“
