“This is absolutely my favorite sushi restaurant in LA and I have been back now 10 times. I have lived here for 3 years and was looking for a fresh, well made sushi joint and finally found it. The owner is so kind and welcomes you upon walking in. I always get the miso soup, crispy rice and albacore fried onion roll. Everything is cooked to perfection and so flavorful. The ambiance is lovely with 1950s jazz playing and quick service. I cannot give this restaurant enough praise. Highly recommend!!“

“Come here for happy hour! Mad we missed it by a half hour. Happy hour 5-6 and 8-9. Most of the rolls and apps and drinks are on the happy hour menu at a very discounted price. Rolls on happy hour are like 13 instead of 18 or 19.

The edamame app was huge, plenty to share. We were 3 and couldn’t finish it. And it was super fresh with a good amount of salt on it which I like. The rolls were fresh and delicious. I liked the shrimp tempura and ultimate salmon roll. The garlic ninja roll was good too. Those were my favorites. The salmon crunch roll was too spicy for me. The plum wine was very sweet. The matcha beer just tasted like beer but was colored green. I guess there was matcha in there too but I didn’t taste it.

It was quiet on a Monday night. I made a reservation but didn’t need to. Very casual place and wait service was very friendly. Lots of robots also roaming the street and picking up orders :)“

“I pop in here probably once a week sometimes twice for a glass of wine. The bartenders are very cheerful and informed with respect to varieties and flavors and all the jazz. They walk you through the options and make tip top recommendations. The place is always slammed at night, yet the manager is extremely accommodating and always finds a place for me to chill and savor the weekend ambiance. I’ve never had their food, but it looks delicious. All the servers are friendly and have excellent people skills. The outdoor space is a fun hang too if you have a group. I always feel spoiled here. 5 star experiences.“

“My girlfriend and I recently visited Sushigah during a brief trip from San Diego, and we were thoroughly impressed. With high expectations for sushi, we found Sushigah to be exceptional. We began with a seaweed salad and Crispy Rice, followed by Salmon Sashimi, the Cucumber Special Roll, a Salmon Handroll, and a Spicy Salmon Roll.

Each dish was incredibly fresh and flavorful, with the salmon sashimi practically melting in our mouths. The temperature of the dishes was perfect, and the presentation was outstanding. Sushigah has definitely earned a spot as a must-visit destination for us whenever we're in Pasadena.“

“We had a very nice dinner here. It was highly recommended by a friend. It is a cute little place that fills up quickly. We ended up sitting outside with some heaters, which was quite nice. We tried the Brussel sprout appetizer, and it was excellent. We ordered the Asian roll, the lobster tempura roll as well as the soft shell crab roll. All were very good. The negima, which is chicken on a stick, was very tasty. We finished with mochi, which was perfect.“

“We really enjoyed our dining experience at Kenbey. The sushi is fresh and you can tell the chef cares about each piece he serves. I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of 3 things. The first is that I didn’t like the sauce that came on the hirame and the sauce on the albacore with the slice of garlic. Second, we tried the Hokkaido uni, it was a very dark orange (so not the freshest - we should have gone with the Santa Barbara uni) and so bland and flavorless. Third, for the prices they could add some decoration.
I would still recommend trying Kenbey. The service was excellent and overall pretty good!“

The service was very attentive. The fish quality was great and there were some unique options i’ve never had before. My favs were the ankimo, seared baby barracuda, spotted ebi, and uni. The espresso hojicha dessert was absolutely amazing as well.“

Started with fatty Tuna that melted in my mouth so fresh delicious then moved on to giant Clams (Mirugai) it was sweet & crunchy I could have gone for second order not many sushi restaurants have (Mirugai)The fatty belly Salmon was buttery & the spicy Tuna hand roll sashimi was perfect coz I’m a spicy food addict it was just heavenly for me. Yum yum 🤤 ended with Kumamoto Oyster 🦪 it was so sweet like cotton candy in your mouth made me wanting more which I did order more. “Katsuya was an incredible experience. We went there for a date night and was absolutely in love with everything we had. We had the Katsuya Chef's Tasting Menu ($85 pp) which included 1. Hokkaido Scallop Sashimi: This was sublime! 2. Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice: This was probably the highlight of the entire meal for me. Spicy tuna always slaps and the crispy rice had a very delicate hint of toasted sesame oil. Très bien! 3. Lobster Tempura: I've never really been a fan of tempura but this one was just exceptional. It was such a nice flavor. I think there was a hint of cheese. But whatever it was, I want more. 4. Wagyu Ishiyaki with Wasabi ponzu: I'm always sceptical about red meat and love it with more flavor infused. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I really enjoyed this. The wasabi ponzu, thinly sliced radish and shiso leaves were the whole package! 5. Specialty rolls: These were well-executed but I was mind blown by the rest of the food that I'd had and the flavors that were exploding that this did not leave a memorable mark for me. But still so good! 6. For the main course, we had a choice between short ribs and the cod. I went with short ribs. This was probably the best sears ever! I also loved the braising jus. 7. Finally for the dessert, we had the Miso Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Bean Marshmallow, Sesame Cremeux, Salted Caramel. It was an amazing dessert to finish things off. They had a few wine offerings, which I enjoyed. Our waiter was super sweet and ensured that we were occupied throughout. He was very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. I loved the ambiance on the inside. Though it's near one of the tourist-y parts of LA, once you're inside, you don't realise how busy it is outside. Overall, I enjoyed this spot immensely. 15/10 recommend.“

“We arrived at 615 for a 630 reservation. The place was packed with a line for fine in and take out. Staff was nice but very overwhelmed as the phone was ringing also. When seated we were greeted and served drinks promptly. We waited a bit longer for appetizers and mains. The table was so small we were constantly shifting plates around and consolidating. Overall the food prep was standard with presentation rushed. Two things to note: First, do not be enchanted by the use of the words “lobster” or “baby lobster”, read the full description to find “crawfish”. Second, my greatest disappointment was the imitation crab. Lastly the use of mayonnaise was too heavy for my taste and interfered with the fresh taste of the food.“

I have never had to wait for a table and the service is direct, and courteous. they provide incredible ginger that they will refill throughout your meal, so go crazy, it’s addictive. and the wasabi. freshly grated, sweet, fluffy, this is the real deal.
my favorites are the sweet shrimp, the uni served with hokkaido and santa barbara side by side, the halibut, and red snapper. but it’s all very very good.
