We had a great experience at Sushi Monster in Montrose. From start to finish, everything felt relaxed, welcoming, and well taken care of.

The rolls were the standout — beautifully presented, generous portions, and packed with flavor. Each roll tasted fresh and well-balanced, without being overpowered by sauces. The nigiri and sashimi were equally impressive, clearly made with quality fish and attention to detail.

What really elevated the meal, though, was the attentive and friendly service. Our server was knowledgeable, checked in at the right moments, and made thoughtful recommendations without ever feeling rushed or pushy. It made the entire experience feel genuinely enjoyable.

“Excellent place. We tried the crispy rice, rattle snake roll, and sunset roll. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. The service is great, and the restaurant has a nice dining area with large TVs. Lots of parking, which is always a plus.“

“Not a big fan of sitting on the side of street where people walk by and you intake that fumes coming from all these traffic. Got to sit inside by the bar, the food here is okay, but a bit pricey for what it's worth. Been to many affordable to very expensive sushi places in the U.S. and in Asia, this place is more IG/social media friendly picturesque place than an actual sushi/sashimi place. Not much nigiri/sashimi choices. Not a big fan of places that sell pre-made canned alcohol with an extreme markup.“

“I'm giving Oji a five star rating because I have been coming here for years--at least the past 6 years. Most of the time, the food is great! My recent visit--the crispy tuna appetizer was flavorless and a bit chewy in a less than fresh way. Although this was my first time at Oji in a while, I was surprised because normally the food is delicious! Service was good. I'll try again Oji!

“Ok. So I have to start out by saying im not a big fan of sushi. Im your typical California roll or fried sushi. Having said that this place changed the way I think about sushi! I always wondered how real Japanese sushi would taste and I have a feeling this place is certainly close to that. I had recently watched a documentary on Netflix and how this one place in Japan you just trust the chef to serve you delicious 😋 sushi! Well this is place does the same and boy it doesn't disappoint. I've never had salmon melt in my mouth like that or had sushi rice taste sooo good. And the ginger ! Thats real stuff

“Love this place so much. Their sushi is always so fresh and love the flavor profiles they choose. My favorite rolls/sashimi there is the citrus forward specialty rolls. The lime roll is my absolute fav there. I recommend making a reso for dinner bc it's usually busy but for lunch you can usually get right in. Parking is a bit of a hassle because of the trader Joe's so close so residential parking is the move.“

“This place is legit. Super nice fish served at the right temp. The quality/cuts of fish are up there with the best of them. They take care in what they do and know who they are. Started with fatty Tuna that melted in my mouth so fresh delicious then moved on to giant Clams (Mirugai) it was sweet & crunchy I could have gone for second order not many sushi restaurants have (Mirugai)The fatty belly Salmon was buttery & the spicy Tuna hand roll sashimi was perfect coz I’m a spicy food addict it was just heavenly for me. Yum yum 🤤 ended with Kumamoto Oyster 🦪 it was so sweet like cotton candy in your mouth made me wanting more which I did order more. Lol 😂 The house hot Sake was good for a cold night paired so well with my amazing Sashimi! Great way to end my Friday night here! Thank you Chef!“

I have never had to wait for a table and the service is direct, and courteous. they provide incredible ginger that they will refill throughout your meal, so go crazy, it’s addictive. and the wasabi. freshly grated, sweet, fluffy, this is the real deal.
my favorites are the sweet shrimp, the uni served with hokkaido and santa barbara side by side, the halibut, and red snapper. but it’s all very very good.

What an experience. Everyone was super friendly, the menu was basic and full of exactly what I was looking for... great fish. I came in for dinner with my friend for my birthday and I have to say, one of my favorite experiences for a meal in LA. Every single bite was melt in your mouth good and wow... so glad to have come here!

“Sashimi: Walk in and walk straight to the back if you’re looking for sashimi. Grab a ticket! They’ll call the number and then you’ll get to pick the sashimi you want. Wait till they cut it and come back when they call your number. About 5-10 minutes! Once your ticket number is called, grab the cut sashimi and you’re ready for checkout (front).

Rolls: If you’re looking for rolls, walk in to the left side (coolers). Theres a line sometimes so don’t cut in line if you see people wrapped around the corner for the rolls!

Interior: it’s packed with Japanese condiments/food/snacks! Price of these are higher but I do believe most of them come from Japan.

Price: it’s reasonable and fresh! Highly recommend if you have party to serve.

Condiments for your fish: they give soy sauce/ chopstick/ice if needed at the checkout. Wasabi is sold separately at the coolers if needed but wasabi is also included inside your sashimi cut containers.

Parking: in the back or street parking!“

“Last minute decision to grab a few rolls and we were happy to be able to try Ichijiku Sushi. No wait or line on a Tuesday night which meant we got great service as one of the few people in at that time. We tried the spicy tuna with crunchy rice, a yellowtail hand roll, salmon nigiri, and negitoro & scallion cut hand roll. Favorite was the negitoro hand roll, great quality and delicious, simple flavor. I wasn’t wow’ed by the yellowtail handroll and found the seaweed not very crunchy making each bite a little harder to chew. Fish quality was great though! Glad we got to try this smaller neighborhood joint.“

It was not hard to find a place. The restaurant is not a big place and had plenty of seats when we went. You walk up to order, plus there is a good size menu with lots of options. It might take a bit to figure out what to get. We both ordered the Super Maki Combo bento box. There is plenty of food that comes with this meal. And it came pretty quick. Soup, tempura, steamed veggies, a couple of rolls, tempura, and a dumpling. They are not messing around here. The food was good, nothing really memorable, but nothing was questionable either. And for the price, not a bad deal. The staff was friendly and helpful when we were asking about the menu. When the food came to our table, we were happy with the freshness and presentation. The sauces were explained with what dishes they were for. It is a lot of soy sauce! The tempura dipping sauce was not what I am used to having with tempura but worked with the meal.
