“We stopped for desert and coffee, it was absolutely amazing. The Dubai cheesecake is rich without being too sweet. The coffee is fantastic as well. The owner is friendly and you could tell he really enjoys serving his customers.

Helped us plan a bit for such a large group and we really ordered perfectly. Food and cocktails were great. I've eaten here for years and have a good expectation on what I hat we'll be getting and wasn't disappointed. Very tasty Mediterranean fare, always good. Highlight was a tomahawk chop special was so good we ordered a second for the table lol.“

“Super yummy hummus plates, falafel, kebabs and salads. Found this gem while on a walk in China town. Not easy to find, but once you know where to find it you will come back again and again. Sooooo good.“

“When you take in the interior—and what an intricate, atmospheric setting it is—your eye is drawn upward to a wooden trellis framing the entryway. Suspended from its crossbeams, hangers hold a vertical line of potted Golden Pothos plant. Couple of wine barrels are balanced above them across the beams. The crisscrossing of wooden stumps within this midair edifice, with its jutting arms, resembles a quiet, yogic position beneath warm glass globe lights. Is this installation art?

At the end of this front hallway is a hanging pot rack doubles as a lighting fixture, while copper-colored cookware reflect the light.

I can’t help being impressed by the thoughtfulness of the interior design as I spoon the subtle textures of lentil soup, followed by fresh, creamy hummus centered with spice, as I read an excellent novel.

“OK, so in theory, I could be a little bit biased, because I live around the corner and this is a very convenient place to get a very good glass of wine and a very, very good small plate of food. I say small plate because that’s generally what I have. And they have some of the best in San Francisco! I am regularly somehow shocked at how good the wine curation is and also how good the food is! I don’t think there’s anywhere else on Union Street or on Chestnut Street and possibly even on Fillmore Street that has anywhere near that combination. Go there now! “I smelled it before I got there no always looking for “the right food cooked by the right people!” I had a bowl with chicken which I could cut with a the plastic spoon 😍 with rice and lentils very flavorful too with the Israel salad all that flavor in one bowl was the best by far! My friend who’s vegan was very satisfied had a falafel bowl which she started eating as we walked down the street! She had smashed it by the time we made to the tables at Union Square. “Total hidden gem in SF. It’s low key and does take out only, but don’t let that fool you, this place rivals SF’s finest establishments. I moved in a few blocks down the street and have been ordering take out almost every day as I unpack. I’ve tried the chicken hummus plate, meatball and rice plate, and the Beyran Soup. Literally each dish was 5/5 amazing. The soup was the best soup I’ve ever had in my life. Super rich flavor, but not overly salty. Just right. Honestly these folks should turn into a full fledged restaurant.“

“The lady works there always been very nice to me. She is attentive. Regarding the food, I think their kabobs could be better. Last time also I felt like both kabobs and joojeh needed to cook more. But I’m from Iran so we may be more picky about our food. Also for Shirazi salad needs sour grape juice (Ab ghooreh) and mine came with olive oil I think. The portion is very generous.“

“We ordered the house combo and it was very tasty. It came with 4 meats(chicken,beef,gyro ,koftedes). All of the meat was juicy,tender and well seasoned. The rice. was fluffy ans delicious. The mixed green salad had tomatoes amd cucumber and was topped with a pickled cabbage and dressed to perfection. I only had a small bite of the pita because rhe meal was so filling. I can't wait to try the baklava we ordered. What a great find. I will definitely be going back to this restaurant.“

“Love coming to SF! Had a moment to grab a meal and heard of Nick's! Awesome food and atmosphere! Laid-back, no issues, Love Gyros! Ever since my time overseas in Europe I try and grab a gyro a few times a year and was excited this was around the corner from me here! I like cold tea with my meal and that wasn't an option, it was a bottled and warm.“
