Terre et Sang Tasting Room Winery •

“Just had a great experience wine tasting, and I'm in awe. We happen to sit next to the Harmon family at dinner. They were talking about their passion, wine. Turns out they own Terre et Sang, they offered us some of their Syrah wine, it was so good. We told them we would drop by their tasting room. Great place, if you love Syrah, you have to visit. Thank you Fred, I'll never forget your kindness, also Dalita, Duncan, and Theeanna, lounge manager. Can't wait to bring friends to visit.“

Refugio Ranch Vineyards - Los Olivos Tasting Room Winery •

“During our trip to Santa Ynez, Refugio Ranch stood out as our favorite stop. Alex’s warm welcome and friendly service allowed us to sit back, relax, and enjoy.

The wines at Refugio ended up being our favorites of the entire trip. The world-class smash burger and lobster roll were welcomed additions to the experience as well. You must try the food if you go here on the weekend.

We went to Refugio 3 separate times during our stay! I cannot praise this establishment enough. Can’t wait to return on our next trip to the area.“

“This is a smaller tasting room, but nicely laid back. Becca loves sharing what she knows about wine and learning about what works for YOU and why. Prolly would have gone home with a few bottles anyway but Becca made the experience even better. Plus they feature plenty of unusual varietals. Malvasia? Never even heard of it!“

Larner Vineyard & Winery Tasting Room Winery • $$
2900 Grand Ave, Los Olivos

“Michael, the wine maker, hosted us, a group of 8, at the vineyard. We sat outside at a long outside table surrounded by the vines and grapes. As we tasted, we also walked around the vines, even got to taste the grapes since it was harvest season. All the wines we tasted were very lovely. We purposed several bottles to take back to Chicago with us. I would highly recommend visiting this beautiful vineyard with gorgeous views located in Los Olivos.“

Andrew Murray Vineyards Los Olivos Tasting Room Winery • $$
2901 Grand Ave, Los Olivos

“This is the E11even tasting room, which is Andrew Murray's second label. While Andrew Murray Vineyards is delicious and has some standouts, we both prefer E11even, and as a bonus - they're more affordable. Becoming a member here also gets you the member perks at Andrew Murray as well. The sauv blanc, petit syrah, petit verdot, and cab franc are all standouts.

Alice usually runs the tasting room solo, and she's awesome. Loads of info and always up for a friendly chat. Well worth stopping by!“

Beckmen Vineyards Wineries • $$

“2025.01.19 - Off the beaten path, but well worth the detour. A great place to catch a sunset as the outdoor seating has a great view of the ridge line on the other side of the Santa Ynez Valley. There is also a little pond with a deck over the water that a party seemed to be enjoying. The wines were good. We met a couple, professors at UCLA, that had ridden ebikes they rented in Solvang to Beckman and other vineyards in the area.“

Story of Soil Winery • $$
2928 San Marcos Ave, Los Olivos

“So many places to choose from. How does one decide which one to go to.

Theoretically one can go to all of them- you need gumption or time or no driving later or a place to stay in LO or a lot of money or all of the above. Coming from far away Dubai, we had to choose one and we chose SoS- and we are glad we did. All the wines were very good- my favourite though was the Gamay. Very light and with an afterthought of a taste.

Alyssa (hope I got the name right) was amazing. Explained all the stuff about the wines. Very well travelled (best of luck traveling to Italy to try out the wines this time).

All wines in neutral oak. Enjoyed ourselves.

Highly recommended.“

Tensley Wine Co Wineries •
2900 Grand Ave, Los Olivos

“It takes a winemaker with true soul to bring the combination of soil, climate, environment, and technology into each release. At Tensley, each bottle holds a narrative of the place from whence it came. I had heard of Tensely--through the grapevine, so to speak--when professing my love for syrahs. My expectations were high. My experience in the tasting room broke free of those preconceived notions to reach new dimensions.
In the Los Olivos tasting room, we were greeted with a smile and an array of bottles. The flagship Colson Canyon offered dark cassis berries and savory olive tapenade on the tongue, with enough hidden spice elements to keep you wondering what will open up in the next sip. Little did I know that winemaker Joey Tensley made more syrahs from the Santa Maria Valley AVA than I had ever dreamed possible. Santa Barbara County is almost an Eden lost and found in terms of its viticulture, with a vast array of microclimates that are suited to hundreds of different varietals. Even more so, the grapes from each particular place hold their own enchanting essence. Each unique offering brought its own balance of sweetness and solidity to the table. From the SBC blend to the vineyard-designated Thompson, all were fit for a king.
Since that tentative first taste of Tensley, I've had the pleasure of meeting multiple members of their winemaking family. Amanda does a fantastic job of running operations in the city of angels (shout-out for introducing me to these fine wines!), just as Sabrina creates a welcoming environment in the LA getaway of Los Olivos. They speak of their coworkers with a heartwarming level of trust and affection that brings out the best in those who are listening. You'll leave the tasting room not only looking forward to the fruits of their labor, but also wanting to be part of their family-fueled collaboration.“

“We discovered Dreamcote a few years back. The atmosphere and aesthetic are on point. They offer both sparkling and wine tasting. The wine here definitely stands out, Love the atmosphere here and would highly recommend this place over most.l“

Zaca Mesa Winery Winery •
6905 Foxen Canyon Rd, Los Olivos

“When making your list of wineries to visit when you're in town, don't forget Zach Mesa! I think on the Foxen road it's become one of my favorites to visit for both the wine and the relaxed atmosphere. I LOVE the Tread label. Specifically the Pinots are fantastic. I think the other one that I loved was the Z-Three. This place is very kid friendly and even have some chickens on site and a giant chess board. Very nice, relaxed place with fantastic wine!“

Andrew Murray Vineyards Wineries • $$
5249 Foxen Canyon Rd, Los Olivos

“When making your list of wineries to visit when you're in town, don't forget Andrew Murray Vineyards! It's a super relaxed place, which a lot of seating inside and out. I particularly enjoy the outdoor section under the big oak tree. Both times I've visited we had the pleasure of having Thomas as our pourer and he is always excellent. This is a great mix of fantastic ambiance, friendly staff and excellent wine! I particularly enjoy how their tasting menus are a little more expansive than most others, giving you more opportunity to taste a larger variety. They're also very kid friendly here! Inside they have a FREE camera that can take stills, gifs and more that are displayed on the big screen inside but also emailed to you for free. A wonderful keepsake that the kids love.

This has become one of my favorites to visit when in town.“

Liquid Farm Tasting Room Winery • $$
2445 Alamo Pintado Ave #101, Los Olivos

“By far one of the best tasting rooms in Los Olivos and arguably the best Chardonnay and Pinots in Santa Ynez Valley. Carefully crafted in the style of wines from Burgundy - that makes the chardonnays, in particular, exceptional to me. Have not always been a big chard drinker but these are really special and not what people may have come to know about chards from California. The Pinots are quite lovely too! The Champagne (yes real!) is also outstanding. I have brought friends, family and work colleagues to the tasting room and they all rave! If you are in the area drop by or if you are a fan of excellent wines, buy online through Liquid Farm.“
