8 Best Wineries in Lompoc

Ampelos Cellars Winery • $$
312 N 9th St, Lompoc

“Great wines, great price point, great staff. I almost don't want to post how much I love this place for fear it'll get too busy, but would rather everyone know that it's worth a trip to the Lompoc wine ghetto if only for this place than to have it go unnoticed in the cacophony of central coast tasting rooms.“

Sweetzer Cellars Winery •
308 N 9th St unit c, Lompoc

“When we didn't see the breezy 'Open' sign outside this Lompoc ghetto site for months during COVID, we were in despair. State restrictions had closed tasting rooms, then allowed partial functionality outside--and it wasn't until SB county achieved the inside allowances of the orange tier that Sweetzer was back on our radar. All the better, as Sweetzer's indoor decor is spare and therapeutic. Throw pillows adorn the couches, carved wooden blocks bear their name on the walls, and succulents or cacti can be found on every ledge. Lisa and Michael have a style all their own, which shows in their wine. They began with unconventional methods. Who would have thought producing wine was possible in an apartment in west hollywood? Their widely diverse lives, from tutoring in the 9-to-five to cycling in the predawn to pairing syrahs with pistachio-cardamom-rosewater biscotti, show that they can make magic from any varietal in their collection. Needless to say, we fell hard. Their La Encantada pinot noir was an early favorite. Their Lieff grenache made our tastebuds buzz. And on the lighter side, their chardonnays and rose keep prickling our senses of eagerness and curiosity. Come for the wine, stay for the ticonderoga number 2 pencil doodles, and keep Sweetzer in mind when you need a bit of recherche instagram inspiration...as these winemakers have certainly inspired us.“

Montemar Wines Wineries • $$
1501 E Chestnut Ct Ste E, Lompoc

“Montemar is the quintessential Sunday wine sipping destination. With a secret garden like backyard that goes on for days, you'll find quiet coves for private conversations and stages for fun shows. It's the ultimate in a fully functional "backyard retreat"We brought our dog June, in an effort to give her June-cation deux. Recently her big brother Jackson had passed and she was left quite distraught. We figured a weekend out with numerous pets and lovers from fellow wine lovers would brighten her day. And boy did it. Montemar was a last minute addition to our schedule. We hadn't even planned on staying the night but did last minute when we found a great hotel deal that included dogs. I had been curious about the Lompoc wine scene for ages and this was the perfect opportunity. Lucky for us it was a quiet Sunday afternoon and June was given free reign of the backyard. We tasted a few flights and then opted to share a bottle of the Grenache blanc Pet Nat - perfect for a balmy Late fall afternoon. We loved the chill vibe here and would recommend to anyone with low energy pets. We can't wait to return and try out more wines and literally just chill and hang. It's such a peaceful environment for that!“

Zotovich Vineyards Tasting Room Winery • $$
300 N 12th St building 1 d, Lompoc

“One of the best tasting experiences I've had. Most wineries just pour from a select list of current releases. Zotovich had all sorts of wine from different years to try. The Syrah and Syrah blends are my personal favorites but their Pinot Noir, Rosé and Chard were also quite tasty“
