We stopped by Bread Head in Manhattan Beach and had to try a little bit of everything! We ordered the Reuben sandwich, turkey pesto with avocado & arugula sandwich, BLAT, and tuna salad sandwich—all served on their delicious homemade focaccia bread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned.

We added a side of Voodoo chips to one of the orders and tried the maple bottled root beer, which was absolutely delicious and so refreshing!

Seating was readily available both inside and outside, and the outdoor area was clean and inviting. The bathroom deserves a mention too—it had the cutest decor and was spotless. Service was friendly and efficient, and we didn’t have to wait long at all for our food.

The portions were so generous that we each ate half of our sandwiches and took the rest home to enjoy later. I especially loved the little self-serve station by the door where you can pack up your leftovers—such a convenient touch!

This location used to be a Johnny Rockets, so it’s really nice to see the space being put to good use again with a restaurant that offers the community fresh food, great prices, and quality ingredients.

Definitely a spot worth checking out if you’re in Manhattan Beach!

“First time here & first time ever trying Ike’s….i gotta say guys, for what the location & food lacked, Darnell, the cashier made up for BIG TIME, what a great guy. Awesome attitude, very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu & just an overall pleasure to interact with (something AI will never be able to accomplish) the place could use better seating & the prices are…well pricey AFFF but it is a damn good sandwich for sure, but damn $4.65 for a bottle of root beer? That’s wild. Again, Darnell made it all much easier to hand over $21 for a sandwich & soda with his awesome attitude. I would most definitely promote the young man asap as from what I’ve seen, he’s very, very capable & deserving of it ?? keep it up young man, with that attitude & drive, you’ll go far in life bud ?? ….Also the young man & woman working with Darnell were also great…very polite, helpful & great attitudes. The 4 of us had a great, brief conversation about the strange quarter I found in my pocket (American Samoa) ….. anyway, the 3 of them make a great team & should definitely be cultivated to be moved up within the company ??“

“I visited this place last time I visited my niece who live in LA. I tried their pizza. It was very good perfect. I also love Arabic fettuce salad and tried their coffee. Very friendly service.“

“I don’t usually give out 5 stars… but this spot is a gem… and a diamond in the rough… I’d have never expected a sandwich spot in Santa Monica that shares the space with a tobacco/cigar store… but wow… color me impressed… super super nice guy working the counter and making the sandwiches, I’m assuming he’s the owner… I asked for a recommendation on his favorite, and he said the tuna… which I appreciated for a number of reasons but hits different when the owner is recommending the least expensive sandwich… usually it’s the opposite. Please listen to me, this is one of the top 2-3 best tuna sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life. Loved the additional fresh ingredients, from chopped eggs to cucumbers, lettuce and fresh red peppers. Would highly recommend this spot to anyone.. also the bread was a perfect toasted pillowy texture that I couldn’t get enough of. Top tier“

“I came here for lunch and ordered the Thai mango salad. It was really good and refreshing. It has a good amount of spice too. The manager who took my order provided great service. I think his name is Pedro. He was really nice and friendly. The food didn’t take long to come out either. Their drinks were also delicious.“

“This place is a hidden gem. The Philly cheesesteak with fries/drink combo is one of my favorite lunches on the westside. Plenty of well seasoned meat & veggies, and the option to add lettuce/tomato/mayo - which I do. And the sandwich is very neatly wrapped in paper and cut in half - making it easy to eat. The crinkle cut fries are always perfectly cooked - with a crisp outside, but still fluffy inside, and then enhanced with seasoning (Lawry’s maybe?). Plus self-serve Coke fountain beverages (a sign says only 1 refill, but they don’t seem to be stingy with this).

They also have teriyaki bowls and burgers - but I haven’t tried those yet.

They have a GREAT selection of bottled & canned sodas/drinks, including Jarritos, Jones, Boylan, and Snapple - big winners!

The inside is dated and worn…and it’s perfect!

Food quality has always been great, and I’ve always loved the design of the place. Been a while since I’ve seen Christian, so I’m assuming he’s not around anymore. That really sucks because Christian was the BEST. The service is still nice, but just not what it used to be. Not close to the same energy. None of the employees even look me in the eye for some reason. One time when ordering, it felt like the cashier was talking to someone behind me lol

“WOAH. Best banh mi I ever had. They put them on freshly made baguettes that they make (so it’s fresh and crisp)! The chicken and veggies were so perfectly fresh and delicious! Filling and you don’t feel like you ate a heavy sandwich—this the place. The biscoff latte, also the shit. While waiting for my order also got to buy my Asian chili sauce for my house that most Asian restaurants have (if you are a frequent buyer of this, was also a nice convenience!)
It’s right in front of Tesla chargers so also can be most efficient charge/snack ever.

“I recently had a craving for a Quiznos sandwich, and this location was so convenient since it's right next to Walmart. I decided to stop by, and I'm really glad I did.
It was wonderful to see what feels like a family-owned business. I know it's a franchise, but the owners and staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. Their friendly service really stood out and made the visit even more enjoyable.
I ordered the Black Angus Steak sandwich, the Turkey Bacon Guacamole sandwich, and a bowl of soup. Everything was delicious! It's becoming harder and harder to find sandwich shops that still serve soup, so that was a pleasant surprise. Even though the weather was warm, the soup was comforting and full of flavor.
The sandwiches were fresh, carefully prepared, and tasted fantastic. You can tell they take pride in the quality of their food.

“If there’s one place known for Vietnamese coffee, it’s this one. That sweet, creamy, ice-cold brew will keep you wired longer than any energy drink. It’s strong, but in the best way. Don’t even bother asking for less ice because the drink is meant to be diluted. Without it, the coffee is way too concentrated (even their bottled version at Costco says to mix it with ice or water!).

As for the food, their banh mi are always solid. Fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Prices have crept up over the years, but that’s pretty much everywhere now. Still worth the visit.“

Not sure why this isn’t more popular in SoCal, there’s no other place that has a hot pastrami sandwich! Ike’s, Jimmy John’s, Jersey Mikes, and dare I even put Subway in this sentence, HAS NOTHING on ToGo’s hot pastrami sandwich. No one has it! It’s sooo good. It’s not like regular cold pastrami, it’s cooked and almost taste like a less salty, most moist, less fatty bacon. It’s sooooo good.“

Lost in the labyrinth of the unforgiving Los Angeles streets, the Jersey Mikes near USC appeared to me as an oasis within the vast urban jungle, a mirage beyond blessings.
Upon entering the establishment, their air conditioning unit revived my spirit and the hearty scent of vinegar and oil reinvigorated my appetite.
