“I had the Jasmine Apple Green Tea and I thought it was tasty. The diced apples was a refreshing experience. My husband got the summer melon drink and didn’t quite enjoy it but the store was accommodating and let him exchange it for something else.

“Big fan of the signature milk tea that has all of the toppings like red bean and jelly. Great texture, great tea flavor and not too sweet like some other milk teas I’ve had, even at regular sugar levels. “We're so lucky to have so many great boba cafes here in San Francisco. And Black Sugar is one of them.

It's a small spot at the edge of the Tenderloin near Union Square. They have a few caffeine-free choices and I got their mango sago, which is a mango puree with grapefruit bits and coconut milk. Since it already had sago, I didn't add boba, which is good btw. Its has that qq bounce and is softly sweetened with brown sugar.

The mango was so refreshing! The coconut added a creamy texture and the grapefruit bits added a pop of tartness. The sago added another layer of texture that was both soft and chewy. I usually like to take my time with boba drinks, but this one was so good that I drank it pretty fast.

I usually order mine online for pick up. But service is pretty quick after ordering. Though I can imagine it's busier on weekends.

I've had several of their drinks, including their popular black sugar fresh milk, and they are all good. Definitely take a detour when you're in Union Square when the boba craving hits.“

I ordered from an iPad, I liked that it had photos & an in-depth description of all the different tea options. My friend got the Oreo Matcha & I got the Lil’ Giraffe. It was pretty good, I was surprise they didn’t already come with the traditional boba ($0.75 additional charge). My friend’s was better, I didn’t taste much of the cake batter maybe due to my 75% sweetness instead of 100%? I wouldn’t recommend the Lil’ Giraffe, I’m sure there other options are better.“

“Tiny but mighty boba store ⭐️! I got the mung bean latte with agar boba and grass jelly on a hot day and enjoyed it! I came in around 6:40pm and they had run out of regular boba by then so I got the agar boba, which are the translucent balls that are a bit smaller and harder. I believe if you come on a Thursday, you can size up for free. Service was friendly! Many interesting drink options, food options, and even cool blankets/merch. I would definitely come back and recommend to friends!“

“I find this to be a consistently good tea drink place. If you order less sweet + less ice it will come out that way. They have a lot of flavor options, from basic to more adventurous. One thing I especially like about the sharetea is they have lychee chunks as an add-in, which I prefer to boba. Note: there is only one large size available, it is ideal for sharing. It's kind of too much for one person.“

I could have tried it then but I wanted my own full experience and to show support for this creation.

When you first enter you’re welcomed with smiles and a good vibe. I would suggest pre ordering as there has to be a line at times. You’re hit with a menu board and tons of options both sandwiches and drinks.
I chose the Bulgogi Bahn Mi, sandwhich was huge! The beef was so tender and hefty. Guaranteed to fill you up . The pickled veggies were fresh and well flavored. The bread! Soft but has a light crunch.
Washed it all down with a Mango Green Tea Bobba. Not too sweet and also tasted fresh.

“My favorite boba place in SF, been to this store 5+ years. The drinks here are consistently great. The lines can get long, which happens a lot, but I honestly don't mind the wait. My go-to favorites are the strawberry matcha latte and the classic milk tea with boba. You'll notice the service changes a bit since they have a ton of different part-timers, but the taste of the drinks is always solid. Totally recommend it!“
