“Excellent HK style Cafe food. Rare to find this kind of attention and preparation these days. Best Baked Pork Chop over Rice in the SF Bay Area!“

“I recently had the chance to check out Yan Peninsula in Millbrae, and overall, it was a refreshing and flavorful experience. The restaurant is located right on El Camino Real, and while parking was a little tight (as it always seems to be around here), I lucked out with a spot in their small lot.
The inside feels modern and clean – it’s a bit more upscale than your typical dim sum joint, with no carts roaming around. Instead, you fill out a paper checklist, which I actually preferred because it meant everything came out fresh and hot.
We ordered a mix of the classics and a few house specials. The baked BBQ pork buns were absolutely delicious – crispy outside with sweet, savory pork inside. The shrimp siu mai with roe was solid, and the texture was just right. A surprise standout was the salted egg yolk lava buns – rich, creamy, and perfect as a dessert.
The only slight miss for me was the BBQ rice noodle rolls – the texture was a bit too thick and gummy, but not a dealbreaker.
Service was friendly, though a bit slow during peak lunch hours. We had to flag someone down a couple times for tea refills and to check on a missing order, but everyone was polite and helpful once we got their attention.
Pricing is on the higher side – we were a group of four and ended up with a $100+ bill (including a 15% service charge). Still, for the quality and clean, relaxed atmosphere, I felt it was worth it.
Final thoughts: Yan Peninsula feels like a great option if you’re craving dim sum but want a cleaner, more modern experience without the chaos of traditional push-cart spots. I’d definitely go back – maybe on a weekday to avoid the crowds.“

“We got one of the private rooms upstairs.
Parking is limited. 3 handicap and another 3-4 general parking. Some spots on the street. Make sure you are traveling north on El Camino. No u-turns around here.
Food is good. We made a reservation. Suckling pig is discounted atm.
Pictures below are what we had for dinner.“

“Probably one of the best dim sum places in South San Francisco! We were there just before 10:30 in the morning on a Sunday and they had a line outside the restaurant. Service was good and excellent dim sum, I highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic and freshly made dim sum!“

“Adorable place with amazing food. We drove down to Half Moon Bay from SF and we’re looking for some quick comfort food at a place that was kid friendly and this was amazing.
The food is fresh, unique and incredibly tasty.
Highly recommend it and wish it was in the city so I could have it more often.
Trust the other reviews lol- it’s great!“

“This place has the best crispy bbq pork buns. It's not really a dim sum but that and the mochi buns were the best things they have in my opinion. They usually sell out by 10am or even earlier but you can call it in and it takes them 20-30 minutes to make it.“

“It’s so delicious I came to Sanfan for a conference trip and lived in this community. What I look forward to most every morning is to go to his house for breakfast. It has a more authentic morning tea and has everything. It’s so happy for the treasures from the Midwest.“

“Best dim sum in SF. Shark fin dumpling and deep fried pork puff are the best items. Low prices. No seating. To go only. Closes early, at 4 pm.“

“The prices are super affordable, making it perfect for a casual meal or a quick to go. Their siu mai is absolutely unbeatable—perfectly steamed, juicy, and packed with flavor. The rest of the dim sum menu is equally delicious, with a great variety of classic options. If you’re looking for authentic dim sum without breaking the bank, this is the spot to go. Highly recommend! Plus it has a great bakery next door to it which makes me always come back.“

“We went there for Thanksgiving for the first time. As a vegetarian, I can say I had many options, and what I chose was outstanding. My wife and daughter enjoyed their fish and meat dishes and I can honestly say there wasn’t one dish that wasn’t outstanding. I heartily recommend this place and I’m considering going back for Christmas if they’re open.“
“Beautiful dinning room, food was only so so. It was expensive, but that’s everywhere nowadays.“

“Support small businesses!
Where you can find quality handcrafted food. I loved everything I’d ordered. From dim sum, milk tea, white sauce, marinated pork ribs and chicken feet, baked egg custard, to specialty traditional Hong Konger soup of the day!
I cannot express enough how grateful I am to have experience this taste again, I left HK back in 2006. This place tasted like home, my childhood, I wonder if they are from Kwun Tong too!
Thank you Hongry Kong for delivering amazing memories to me. I had already placed my second order. Spread the word out, hope you continues with success!“

“The food was authentic, very affordable prices compared to other dim sum spots in San Mateo. I arrived at 12pm and there were plenty of seats, but the place quickly filled up afterward. There are two menus. I don't know why. I would grab both because some things I usually get are in the other menu.“

“Another hole-in-the-wall, underrated but great tasting Northern China food restaurant in Bay area. Hidden away in an alley, minimal decor serving unpretentious noodle, soups, and Chinese pancakes and a lot more. If you're in the neighborhood, you need to give this place a try.?? *They serve most foods in takeout containers. Bypass this and focus on the food. I had to learn this ?“

“Had a lovely dinner here with my family—food and service were both great! Very solid dishes all around, but what really got me were the sweet and sour pork (which had a really good meat to batter ratio), taro sago (the best I’ve had in soo long!! Generous portions of taro in each bowl) and to my surprise the Chinese donuts (which I usually don’t like, but they were so soft, light and tasty).
I’m already looking forward to the next time my family gathers here for dinner :)“

“My family has been supporters of this place since before the pandemic, and their food is a staple in our household. They have great steamed buns (personally, I like the dai bao/big bun the most). While their prices have gone up, it's still very reasonable and the food is delicious!“

“You know what makes a great city like San Francisco work? It's the thousands upon thousands of ordinary folks who work diligently everyday to make a living and provide food and services for everyone else.
And those are found in the neighborhoods, the small pockets of business zones among residential homes scattered all over the city. This small hole-in-the-wall joint is a testament to the organic nature of small businesses that makes a great city.
Sweet Delight is a consistent food place that serves up hot meals, from pre-made Chinese food, dim sums and pastries day in and day out with much reliability and with sincerity.
The staff is cordial enough and do their best to be hospitable, the prices are reasonable that you get your money's worth and the food turns over often enough that it is consistently fresh.
Support your neighborhood places to keep the community healthy and vibrant.“

“We came here to celebrate mother’s days. Their food is very good. Service is a hit or miss. Their portions are getting a little bit smaller but the food is still very good. We usually order: shrimp with walnut, Crispy fried Chicken with Shrimp Chips, peasprouts & garlic, sweet and sour fish, broccoli mushroom and beef (yummy), and a claypot with eggplant. I would definitely come back .“

“Had lunch there with few friends that had not seen in few years. One of the few places that serve porridge. N bake beef tongue over rice. Taste is average but the price is reasonable. Serve was really good n friendly. Good place to get together n visit n eat. Will come back again.“
“Been coming here for many years. Hole in the wall spot with big portions and affordable prices! They have pretty much everything you could think of in a typical Chinese restaurant. They serve dim sum in the morning. $3 rice noodles and $2 small porridge is such a steal. I recommend calling to place an order since parking is limited. My favorite would have to be their Mongolian Beef. It's slightly spicy and packed with flavor.

“It’s really a to go place but surprisingly they offer a kitchen that will take orders and even customize your order. The staff is very nice and friendly. A few IYKYK things 1) It’s one of the rare places that still make mochi desert. They have a pineapple version and a peanut version. Both are really good. 2) Their bolo “pineapple” buns are also pretty good and they have it in a dedicated space with heat lamp. 3) they make soy milk from scratch. And it’s delicious.“

“We’ve been heading over to The Night Market for the past few years! The classics are all good, Hainan Chicken, Beef Chow Fun, minced Beef over rice. But if you want to try something unique to The Night Market try the Longan Crispy Pork over rice. I can’t imagine a dish that so uniquely represents the Asian American experience. Finish it off with a mango Sago!“

“BEST coconut chicken hotpot I’ve ever had in the bay!!!!!
The soup was made with fresh coconut - they cracked the coconut and added the coconut water into our soup. We could also eat the coconut meat inside - it was so fresh.
And then they added chicken - the soup was just HEAVENLY. As a person who is from the region where coconut chicken was originated, I 100% approve its authenticity!!
And the price was soooo good too - $35 per person!“

“First time visit. This place used to be China village restaurant. It serves dimsum and hongkong style dishes. It has live seafood. I heard the chef is from Pallette tea and garden. When we arrived it was not busy but later in the night the restaurant is almost full. Overall, the food is yummy. The beef is a bit salty. Service wise, they might need to do better as if you go to another sizable hongkong seafood restaurant , someone will greet you and serve right a way. We will try the dimsum next time.“

“I visited Koi Palace at SFO before my connecting flight and had the wonton noodle soup. It was served steaming hot, with a light and satisfying broth, perfect for anyone craving a comforting noodle dish. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the service was quick. “One of the best dim sum place on the peninsula. And also has a great view of the plane take off and landing.
Their lunch dimsum is very crowded so either go there early before 11:00 or after 1:00 p.m.
Since they remove the outdoor dining, they now direct overflow to the next door hotpot place, which also serve dim sums during lunch hour.
They also have good dinner banquet menu that are reasonably priced, especially there holiday dinner banquet menu.
But I always prefer banquet menus that are Tailor to our favorite dishes. Yes it will be more expensive than their set menu but at least all the dishes we will enjoy.“
