“As someone raised on the east coast, I consider myself a decent critic of what makes a sandwich shop better than what you can make at home. Number one is bread that isn’t something that can be bought at your local grocery store. Check that box- I don’t know exactly how to categorize their sub roll but it’s crusty, chewy and all the things that mass produced bread can’t be. Number two is the prep of the ingredients- at home we can all put a lettuce leaf on a sandwich, but that just creates a barrier between bread/sauce/meat. Here it’s thinly sliced and perfectly married to the importance of sauce…which they also nail. All I can say is WELL DONE!“

“I like my sandwiches moist - there is nothing worse when you unwrap that paper around your deli sandwich and wonder if they forgot to put any sauce, condiments on there, and if your lunch experience is going to be drier than dirt. No worries about that at Lou's. By now, I've tried about 7 or 8 of their sandwiches and every single one has been a wonderfully messy delight (extra napkins!). Somehow, their signature jalapeno sauce seems to go with every thing - haven't found a mis-match between that sauce and any sandwich yet. The bread - where the hell are they getting this bread?!?? It is the best deli sandwich bread I've had since I fell in love with the dutch crunch at Sam's Deli as a teenager (oh, those were the days!!). The folks there are great - just cranking out one delicious meal after the next with quiet precision and skill. Awfully nice to have this place right here in town!“

“Ordered the combo pork with pate,fancy pork,head cheese,ham,mayo,pickled carrot and onion. I also added jalapeño. The combination of the toasted bread and generous pate made the sandwich crunchy and moist. Meats and veggie were very tasty with the pickled carrots. Price is right and sandwich are very good. “Best place to get one sandwich for two people. Custom made fresh at the deli or at the kitchen enjoy hot sandwich, Hamburgers or a simple salad, sodas, beer, & Draft beer available. Just be sure & bring a good appetite or you will be walking out with leftovers. The kitchen is open M-F till 2pm. The deli is open M-S till 3? There are tables to sit & enjoy the food & watch a game on tv. Darby Dan's is wheelchair accessible. There is free parking lot or street parking.“

“There is a big parking for at least 20 cars. In the building there is just a line and some menus on the T.V's. You wait you turn and get served slowly but professionaly. They ask some specific questions about your sandwich because you can litteraly order bread and ham on top. Without any toppings or any thing on top. There are outside seating but not a lot.

Tip : come early at 11:30 because after at 12:30 there is a long line“

This shop got robbed while I was there: some African American teenagers with face covers darted with their sandwiches and drinks without paying for them. It's not the business's fault, but still, doesn't feel good to visit a venue where that happens (the robbers could have been violent and looking to take more than just the food..).“

“I am so glad they opened this sandwich spot! I ordered 5 items for takeout and it came out to only $34. I got 2 veggie sandwiches on Dutch crunch. Best sandwiches in San Mateo County. I also tried their 2 dessert options. They have the bst carrot cake I have ever had! Their chocolate chip cookie tasted very rich. I had their veggie soup which was fresh and delicious. This place is my new go to spot. The location is a little awkward, but the inside is organized and clean. It only took 10 minutes to make my order. Definitely a satisfied customer!!!“

“Accidental Visit Turned Into a New Favorite!
I stopped by Jersey Mike’s by mistake—I was actually looking for Subway but ended up in their parking lot. I decided to give it a try, and I’m so glad I did!

The team was super friendly, and while they had fewer ingredient options than Subway, everything was incredibly fresh and clean. I ordered a wheat turkey sandwich in the “giant” size, and it did not disappoint! The meat and bread were both delicious, and they definitely give you more turkey than Subway does.

The overall experience, from the welcoming staff to the high-quality food, was great. I’ve officially found a new favorite sandwich spot!“

Seating is tight inside but probably could fit 10-15, and there is more seating outside. Feels kind of lame that they charge a few cents more for a wheat tortilla.“

“Ordered the Vegan Litacanrana with sour dough bread via uber eats. Firstly it was so nice to have a few vegan options to choose from but I do miss my old favorite non-vegan Dutch crunch bread.

The sour dough wasn’t as satisfying or crunchy as it was pretty ‘overly bread-y’ but still grateful for it being a vegan option 🤞🏼. I loved that they gave me extra vegan sauce as it was delicious but maybe it was the sourdough that was too much but I don’t think I’d order this same flavor combo again next time - nothing negative to say but that I’d probably try a different combination“
