A special shout-out to Atinder, the manager, and her phenomenal team. Their service was fantastic throughout. What really stood out was their timely and smooth event management. When a last-minute situation arose that required quick action, Atinder didn’t hesitate—she went above and beyond to make sure everything was handled seamlessly and with grace. The food was exceptional, and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into planning the menu. During the tasting, Atinder offered great suggestions that suited our multicultural crowd. Thanks to her insight, we were able to cater to a variety of tastes and dietary preferences, which our guests absolutely loved. “Came here for a pinball tournament. It's a very nice bar and has several separate areas where there also video games along the walls. The pinball machines are in the back area where the food pickup area is. I ordered a Maitai from the front bar and it was really nice. The pins are very nice too, and they are well maintained. Priced very well @.75/gm 3 for 2.00. I didn't order food, so I cannot comment, but it looked good.“

Positives: Service was AMAZING 👏👏👏 very attentive and checks in with our table constantly. The cheese and salad bar was fantastic with huge variety of choices!

Negatives: The meat was “okay”, I don’t know what’s the rave about meat. I rather pay $100 for 4 course meal with incredible quality than $100 for this all you can eat steaks with mediocre quality.“

“No food within the bar which is fine, there's usually a food truck outside or you can bring your own. Great staff here, everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Tons of TVs and 2 pool tables and 2 dart boards. Really a great atmosphere and vibe.“

“Jack's is a hidden gem of a bar. From the outside it looks like your typical dive, but once you enter you'll notice the modern decor, a wide variety of excellent top and mid shelf liquors in a well organized bar shelf, a spacious outdoor patio and a second bar in the back. The service is excellent and the bar staff know how to make solid drinks. Q and Michelle, the bartenders were friendly and awesome. Brian, the manager took care of us and ensured we had a great time! They have a lot of TVs as well to watch games.

Come here if you like a chill spot to have cocktails, beer or watch the game. Lots of friendly local folks in the late afternoon. Dog friendly until 9pm! You can order food at the bar (or QR code), which will be delivered quickly from a neighboring restaurant, J-Town pizza.

“Excellent pizza—easily some of the best in San Jose! The crust has that perfect crunch with a sourdough-like flavor. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients, from the handmade dough to the perfectly balanced sauce. It’s clear a lot of care goes into every pie. The vibe is relaxed and a little bar-like, but still clean and thoughtfully put together, making it a great spot to hang out with friends or grab a pickup order on the way home. Truly a gem in the San Jose pizza scene.“

“Goodtime bar has become our home ever since we moved to the Bay area a months ago. It has a good vibe with great choices of organic wine (you never know what to expect and you will never be disappointed), excellent food and super friendly and fun staff!“

“I got the single patty cheeseburger combo and nugs combo with a side of Mac and cheese. I think the nugs combo is a good bang for your buck because they give such a large amount of nuggets and fries. They taste delicious with honey and their special sauce and were fried to perfection. I enjoyed their cheeseburger as well and would get it again!
Just a heads up for anyone who orders the chicken salad, my best friend got it and it was a whole bunch of nuggets with what appeared to be a small amount of spring mix underneath and a side of ranch. She was a bit disappointmented, but she wanted a lighter meal, but it was too heavy for her.“

“Yo, just hit up this spot the other day and gotta say, it was pretty solid. First off, the service was quick – like, I ordered on my phone and bam, food was ready before I even knew it. That's clutch.

They also got this cool little fish tank and some chill lighting that kinda sets a nice mood, you know? Not super fancy, but definitely adds to the vibe.

Now, the food itself was tasty, no doubt. Just a heads-up, it was maybe a tad on the salty side for my taste. And one other thing – they use bamboo skewers instead of the metal ones. Wasn't a big deal or anything, just something I noticed.

Overall though, I had a good experience. Quick, easy, and the place has a cool, laid-back feel. Would def check it out again.“

“If you’re craving KBBQ, Hungry Cow is a must-try! We got the premium AYCE to sample a bit of everything, and it was 100% worth it.
All the meats were tender, flavorful, and high quality. You can really taste the difference. The side dishes were just as impressive — especially the kimchi and cucumber kimchi. And the steamed egg? Incredible. Not your typical KBBQ steamed egg — it had shrimp, mushroom, truffle, and masago, and it was packed with flavor.
Our servers, Soterry and San, were amazing — super attentive and always timed our next round of orders perfectly. They also changed our grill plates often, which we really appreciated.
To finish off the meal, they offered a selection of Melona ice cream bars, which was such a fun and refreshing treat.
We left completely full and very satisfied with both the food and service. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the area!“

“fast customer service and good food“

“I want to preface this by saying two things. First, I had never been here before. Which is sorta’ shocking for me because, two, I like Bay Area dive- and dive-adjacent bars.

Having lived in and/or visited this area for all of my 50-plus years, that is shocking. And I like this sort of place in a non-ironic, non-wink-wink, sorta’ way. I loved the Cardiff in Campbell before it became an ultra-lounge. I spent many a day and/or evening at Blinky’s before it closed. In more recent years, I was saddened when Patty’s Inn and then the The Red Stag closed. I am happy that Woodham’s still offers up first and last calls. And I continue to be amazed that Vahl’s is still slinging drinks in the hinterlands.

And I frequent these places because, in almost all cases, they provide a service that is rapidly being destroyed in the Bay Area. Great service. Strong drinks. Good prices (relatively speaking). Interesting customers. Normandy House checks all of these boxes.

This place exists where Bascom disappears. It is kitty-corner to what has to be one of the world’s oldest still existing uniform stores. It is located in a non-descript and frankly worn-down corner strip mall, the sort of place that is eagerly eyed by developers looking to raze the place in favor of bland and cheaply made condos that cost way too much.

By dive bar standards (and I mean that as a compliment), this place is huge! Long and lovely bar. Lots of seating. Clean bathrooms. Atmosphere-appropriate lighting. Pool tables and a good jukebox. My friend and I visited on a recent weekday, so the place was nearly empty. But the staff were top notch. We got an instant greeting, several check-ins, and prompt service. They were tearing down the St. Patrick’s Day stuff and putting up new decorations. Having never been here before, I didn’t feel like I was intruding. The staff made me feel at home.

I think the reviews and the average rating are about right. Thing is, check out some of the negative reviews. Most are years old. And the more recent one(s)—I am looking at you, Alex—makes the reviewer sound like a high-maintenance noodle who can’t fathom why people won’t respond to their friend requests. Hint: it’s you, Alex. It’s you.

Again, I am amazed I hadn’t visited before. And I plan to visit again the next time I am in the area. To the staff, thank you. You provided excellent service. To the owner, keep doing what you are doing. In a place that is more and more demolishing the heart and spirit of the area and pricing out locals, you provide a service that I am not sure newer transplants understand or even respect.
