“Paul is very nice and made me feel so welcomed! He remembered me even though I've only been there once. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. If I recall correctly, he said that the strawberry cake ball, coffee cake, and a few others were popular picks. There is only outdoor sidewalk seating (a total of 3 small tables with 2 seats each). The interior is tiny, and it carries the feel of a quick in-and-out pickup store. It's also right across the street from Pasadena's Central Park if you're looking for a stroll while you eat. It's very transit-accessible. It's a 5 minute walk from the A line Del Mar station. death by chocolate cookie ($3.85) - It's just a typical double chocolate cookie! It's a little gritty and dry (maybe it's gluten free?) but still delicious nonetheless. coffee cake ($5.88) - sweet, with a flavor of cinnamon (not in an overpowering way). If you enjoy coffee cake, definitely get this, as vegan coffee cake is a rarity in Pasadena and LA. ice cream sandwich ($9.25) - honestly, i think this was a little too sweet for me. The ice cream itself was plain vanilla soft serve, but when sandwiched by two entire chocolate chip cookies, I think the sweetness can be overpowering. Keep in mind that it also melts very fast (since it has the consistency of soft serve) and this makes it hard to keep the whole sandwich in shape. If you do not plan to eat it right away, I would not recommend getting this as it'll melt in a mere minute.“

The earl grey morning bun also a top contender with a strong enough earl grey flavor that was delectably enveloped in the flaky pastry. Cinnamon roll croissant was not too sweet and the center was the best bite! The french onion soup danish was good and tasted even better when warmed up at home. They should offer that option in store because it makes all the difference! Personally, as an almond croissant lover, I found the filling to be a little too sweet and leaned heavily on an almond extract flavor/aroma. I searched for cake shops nearby and came across Maksen. After seeing their stunning designs, I knew I had to give them a try. I’m so glad I did because the chef/owner was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to bring my vision to life. Not only did the design turn out amazing, but she also worked with me on pricing, had a quick turnaround, and the cake itself was absolutely delicious. We all loved it!“

It's light, not too sweet Percy texture and so delicious. They have the original , matcha , strawberry and Oreo flavors. You can either one flavor or a set of all 4.

The taro snowflakes is a must try, creamy taro sponge cake made with real taro.

This shop is clean, cutesy and is family owned and I was helped by the owner's mom, she's super nice lady, the owner makes all the cakes.

“I can’t say enough great things! I went out on a limb and called Valentine Sweets. I live in New York, however my brother lives in Pasadena! I was doing a gender reveal for my friends and family in New York and wanted my brother to be included. I called early in the morning and spoke to the decorator Tatiana. I explained I needed one single custom gender reveal cupcake and she had no issues with the request or making it happen! A simple cute vanilla cupcake. Decorated with blue and pink sprinkles. And surprise pink frosting in the middle! She had the cupcake done within a couple hours for my brother to pick up! She had great communication and texted me when it was ready. “Honestly, I’ve driven past this place so many times and never noticed it until we stopped to shop at Super A next door. It’s a super unassuming, small bakery, but it’s clearly a local favorite because it was pretty busy when we walked in!

They specialize in sponge cakes, and the shelves are fully stocked with all different kinds. We tried a few things, but the standout was definitely the Grenade Cake. It’s got this great crispy top that gives it a nice texture which is definitely unique.

We also picked up an ube sponge cake. It was incredibly fluffy and light, and the flavor was spot on. They have a bunch of different flavors to choose from if ube isn't your thing.

The service was friendly and efficient, too. Definitely a solid little hidden gem in Temple City if you're looking for fresh, airy cakes that aren't overly sweet!“
