“My recent visit to a local Subway restaurant left me with mixed feelings. While the overall experience was satisfactory, I encountered a significant issue that raised concerns about food safety and preparation practices.
Initially, the sandwich I ordered was quite enjoyable. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors blended well together. The bread was soft, and the vegetables were crisp, which is what I have come to expect from Subway. However, this positive experience took a turn for the worse towards the end of my meal.
As I took my final bite of the sandwich, I felt something unusual in my mouth. Upon inspection, I discovered a piece of sharp material that appeared to be plastic or some other hard substance, approximately an inch long. This discovery was alarming and completely overshadowed the enjoyment I had experienced while eating.
Finding foreign objects in food is not just unpleasant; it raises serious concerns about food safety standards in place at the establishment. Such incidents can pose health risks to customers, including potential injuries from sharp objects or contamination from materials that should not be ingested. It is crucial for restaurants, especially those serving food directly to consumers like Subway, to maintain high standards of cleanliness and quality control during food preparation.
In light of this experience, it is clear that Subway needs to enhance its food preparation protocols. Implementing stricter quality checks and training staff on proper handling techniques could help prevent such incidents in the future. Additionally, regular inspections of kitchen equipment and utensils should be conducted to ensure no foreign materials are present in food items served to customers.
While my initial experience at Subway was positive due to the taste and freshness of the ingredients, finding a piece of plastic in my sandwich has left me hesitant about returning. It is imperative for restaurants to prioritize customer safety by ensuring their food is free from contaminants or foreign objects.“

“I've been visiting this hidden gem for over a decade, and I can confidently say that their bánh mì remains some of the best I’ve ever had in Chinatown! The #1 option with cold cuts and Vietnamese-style meatloaf is incredibly flavorful. I might be mistaken, but I detect a lovely smoky note that elevates the entire sandwich.
The bread is truly exceptional—fresh, soft on the inside, and perfectly crunchy on the outside. It’s the ideal baguette to complement the vibrant fillings. Every bite is a delightful mix of textures and flavors that keeps me coming back for more. If you’re in the area, you have to give this place a try!“

“Focaccia bread was freshly made and warm, and the greens of the salad also very fresh and crisp. The portobello mushroom in the mushroom sandwich was very flavorful. My only reservation is the sun dried tomato spread instead of actual sun dried tomatoes. Very healthy plant based choices.“

“You will never get a sub quite as lovely as these. I don’t know why they’re so good, maybe fresh bread and fresh ingredients IDK but Turkey extra chili is my fave!! Mom loves Milanesa and the fried sides are YUMM too! I learned how to make my voice heard at the old little market. The big construction men at lunch time would be shouting out their orders. I was 11 years old and had to shout my order too!! Been a patron since 1982!!“

“Retro corner shop serving sandwiches, burgers, and other hot food.
----------
Wet Fries with Gravy
Grade: A-
I don't know what kind of stock they use for the gravy but the flavor is phenomenal. A little on the salty side but not too bad when you spread it out over the fries. The portion size is also massive
----------
Pastrami Dip
Grade: C-
The smokiness of the pastrami is good but it is really salty. I don't know if it's the pastrami itself or the au jus but the salt overpowers the rest of the flavor.“

“Pane Bianco in ROW DTLA is a hidden gem for artisanal sandwiches and Italian-inspired bites. The bread, baked fresh in-house, is the star of the show—crispy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside. Their sandwiches, filled with quality ingredients like fresh mozzarella, cured meats, and vibrant vegetables, are simple yet bursting with flavor. The casual, laid-back vibe makes it a perfect spot for a quick lunch or takeout. While the menu is focused mainly on sandwiches, the quality of the ingredients and attention to detail make each bite memorable. It’s reasonably priced, considering the craftsmanship and freshness of the food.“

I recommend starting with the BBQ pork and exploring the rest. The quality is consistently excellent, perfect for a quick, satisfying meal. I always call ahead for a quick pick up. Parking lot gets crowded but never had an issue.“

“Absolutely amazing! I was in town for work, and looking for some good food. Their food is made with natural ingredients and tastes amazing! The people are friendly and helpful. The bread in their sandwiches and subs is made by a non supplier bakery, so it tastes fresh and amazing, unlike chain pizza places! Would definitely recommend!“

“Not as good as the Slausan location but still a great option for the DTLA area. They gave me the wrong order and I didn't feel like making it a thing so I just ate it even though it wasn't what I wanted. I felt like the lady behind the counter would have made a big deal out of it so I just ate it.“

“The Hat isn't just a restaurant—it's a part of my personal history. I grew up eating here, and during my college years, it became my go-to late-night spot. There's something about walking up to The Hat, smelling that unmistakable aroma of sizzling pastrami, and knowing you're about to dig into something unforgettable.
Their pastrami is simply the best—no exaggeration. Piled high, tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of fat to melt in your mouth. The sandwich is served hot, with that signature mustard and pickles that cut through the richness just right. Whether it's the classic pastrami sandwich, chili cheese fries loaded with pastrami, or even the pastrami burger, it's always satisfying.
And it wouldn’t be a visit to The Hat without an Orange Bang to wash it all down. That icy, creamy orange drink pairs perfectly with the savory flavors of the meal—it's nostalgic and refreshing all at once. If you know, you know.
The portions here are generous, easily shareable (if you're feeling kind), and always freshly made. I’ve taken friends and family here over the years, and everyone always walks away impressed—and full.
One of the things I love most is that they stay open late, which made them a lifesaver during long study nights and post-hangout food runs in college. You could always count on The Hat to deliver a consistently great experience, no matter the hour.
This place has stood the test of time for good reason. It’s not flashy or trendy—it’s just damn good food, served with consistency and heart. The Hat will always hold a special place in my memories and continues to earn my loyalty with every visit.“

“Cool place for boba drinks. They make them promptly and the price is clearly posted. $5 for a Thai tea with boba includes taxes. We ordered six drinks and received them promptly. There is a sitting area to enjoy your drinks too.
A cup of Thai tea with boba and ice tastes great on a hot day.
They only accept cash.“

“The food at Mendocino is always fantastic, it's the perfect balance of healthy and hearty. For the price and convenience it really can't be beat. That being said -- I am only driven to write a review because Jose at this location truly went way above and beyond to assist me. I needed help with a catering order and he was kind, helpful, accommodating, and just overall the best customer service I could possibly hope for. Thank you so much!!
I also highly recommend their catering options, SO convenient, accommodate a lot of different tastes, -- I do a lot of lunch meetings-- and always get great feedback.“

“This is one of those local gem mom and pop restaurants that everyone loves. Great sandwiches, great onion rings and good prices. The restaurant itself it a little dated and the owners say very little, but the food speaks for itself. I've been coming here since I was a kid and will continue coming until I no longer can.
Parking: Free parking but limited parking spaces.“

“I remember getting some pretty good bánh mì to take on a flight several years ago, but didn’t know from which establishment. I came here today and it felt very familiar. I’m pretty certain this was the place.
We took advantage of the buy 2 get 1 free deal for the round bread bánh mì. We had the Saigon special, grilled pork and grilled beef. We actually asked for the meatball bánh mì, but they got our order wrong and gave us the grilled beef instead, which we didn’t realise until we got home. However, the sandwiches were still tasty; the meat was well seasoned and the bread had enough bite without being tough.
A decent place if you fancy some bánh mì. Takeout only.“
