“Limited place but we were taken care of well by the owner who runs it alone. He was just opening up and went back to kitchen to prepare our order. Hot Falafal was easily the best of the lot which we totally enjoyed since it was a cold day.

“I first visited this amazing local deli in 1989-1990. I remembered the half loaves of bread stacked high with a pile of my choice of meats and cheeses. Although I was only 18-19, Compagno’s established my standard for an amazing sandwich. 32 years later I brought my sons here for lunch. Same delicious goodness a generation later.“

“Revival is an extremely popular parlor with lines often extending out of the doors. There really isn't any usable space inside the parlor, least not for a table. The business would benefit from adding a second door and creating a queue line inside leading from the entrance to the exit. It would also be great for winter, as the entire town continues to buy ice cream when it's freezing outside“

“I was so tired today from not sleeping I was ready to curl up and die. I walked in on a whim, I'm not a vegan or vegetarian or anything, but the food tasted really good and had nice texture and I felt a lot better words. Staff was really friendly.“

“We have been going to Heirloom Pizza a few times a year for a while now and have always enjoyed great food and good service. This was until last night. The food was still delicious and the server was good. That was the limit of a good experience. The hostess had a look that we were bothering her by wanting to eat there. We arrived about 7pm and they were busy, but it only took about 10 minutes to be seated. We ordered fairly quickly and then waited for over 50 minutes to have an appetizer to reach our table and another 25 minutes for our main dish. By the time we received our appetizer the restaurant had only 5-6 tables with people still sitting. We understand that it takes a little longer for a deep dish pizza, but well over an hour in unacceptable. In the 50 minutes we saw no less than a dozen or so orders go out the door for pickup orders. I understand they sell pizza and there is likely a large amount of business that doesn't come an stay to eat, but we felt forgotten. If we choose to go back, maybe we should order before arriving.“

The meatloaf was thin sliced and way over cooked the mash and veg was just above room temp. Honestly if I lived here I'd probably go back but as a tourist with one shot .. I won't return when there are so many other places to try. I like the vibes and the food was trying. Perhaps the kitchen staff was over it because it was NYE. Whatever the case it was ok.

Vegetarian options: They had tofu on the menu, which is one of the big reasons we chose to try it and they were out.

“So, soooo good. The Saba and Ikura were gooood, while the Unagi was PERFECT! The best I've had, soft and crispy in the right places, with a well balanced sauce. Service was polite, timely, and attentive. Very interesting take on the salad dressing, be sure to ask for some extra on the side if you order one.“

“Lots of fun, interesting and unique decor fitting the theme. Service was attentive and articulate, and waters were refilled, but soup wasn't delivered until after the entree. Sadly, the "icelandic cod" in "beer batter" was a sad and rather tasteless and tough piece of fish (maybe it was cod, maybe not) that was in fact served in panko type breadcrumbs, not a "batter" at all. This is "breaded" fish in British terms. And the chips were oven chips, not fried. As Brits excited to be in a town that seems to have about 4 restaurants serving fish and chips, we were disappointed in this offering and next time we go to Monterey we will try one of the other places.“

“This is a surprisingly good place. We didn't expected them to make so many options available in Vegetarian and Jain food (no onion no garlic and no potatoes). And person taking order knew exactly what we were talking about dietary restrictions.
On top of all this, the food was delicious and super yummy. This place is one of the reason we would visit monterey again. Highly recommended for Vegetarian and Jain diet.

Vegetarian options: Pad Thai, fresh spring roll, basil thai fried rice, pineapple fried rice, sweet sour tofu.

The homemade French press hot tea, Bloody Mary, rice and beans, cabbage rolls, caeser salad and turkey lentil soup. I can’t say enough about the owner and food. Give them a try!“

A favorite now in the area, that every local should try! The owners, Frederico and Sabrina were such gracious and beautiful hosts, and they made us, and every guest in the restaurant, feel as if we were treasured family coming together for a meal. A must-eat-at establishment!“
