“Was super happy with our dinner at Hippo. Every dish was delicious. The brussel sprouts and cauliflower starters had excellent flavors. All the pastas we tried had incredible depth of flavor without being overly heavy or greasy. The hippo rolls and table focaccia were excellent and the chicken thighs were to die for. Only thing that was lackluster was the passion fruit gelato. Fun vibe, lots of seating, and great service!”

“I started with their bestseller breakfast burrito, and it delivers exactly what you want in a classic breakfast build — hearty, flavorful, and properly balanced. The potatoes are cooked right, the textures work, and nothing feels like filler. It’s satisfying without being overly heavy. But the real surprise for me was The Green Burrito. Egg, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, feta, salsa verde — and I added chorizo. The combination is layered, bright, and bold. The sun-dried tomatoes give it depth, the salsa verde cuts through beautifully, and the chorizo adds that extra savory punch. In my opinion, it actually outshined the bestseller. If you’re someone who appreciates a protein-forward, well-crafted breakfast burrito with intention behind the flavors, this is a spot worth pulling up to. Community-approved for a reason. “Incredible dishes! We started with biscuits which were warm flaky and heavenly with perfect butter. Celery was refreshing and crunchy - highly recommend as a contrast to biscuits.

We also got calamari which were perfectly crispy, I was not the biggest fan of the sauce, but my husband liked it. For main course both the rosemary chicken and the steak were amazing!

In terms of seating we got the table on the patio which had great atmosphere except for trains passing by. I think next time I would book indoor table, but we 100% want to come as all the food was incredible.”

“The best spicy Chinese Food in OC/LA area hands down! They have been Michelin recommended for a reason. Their food has lots of depth of umami flavors with a good amount of spice with a refined touch. Their none spicy broths are especially good too. My faves are their dry pots, toothpick lambs, Qiao Jiao Beef. We also like their spicy ribs and boiled fish in chilli sauce, and Mao cai. Service is great too!”

“Hands down, one of the best Chinese restaurants in the SGV. My favorite dishes are the cat ear shaped noodle soup and pork meatballs, as well as the wife’s special noodles, but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! Highly recommend for anybody in the surrounding area to try”

“Owner has great hospitality! We did have to wait for a bit since we went on a Sunday, but line moved at a reasonable pace and was organized. Food was warm though the xiu mai skin was thicker than we wanted. Highly recommend fried shrimp dumplings and steamed BBQ pork bun :) would consider go again!”

“Had to stop by my favorite Italian grubbin in the heart of Old Town Pasadena all the way from Boise. This was my 3rd time and each time just keeps getting better; definitely the bigger the party, the better. We paid $225 for 4 pasta entrees, 3 appetizers, & 2 glasses of wine for a party of 6. I’ve learned to like my pastas al dente after having them here. The meatballs are banging, the wine-pairing was delightful. Our service was attentive and pleasant; the vibe is always vibrant and homey. Highly recommended.”

“Known for their grassfed beef burger. They offer $14 vegan option but no vegan cheese. The mayo has no dairy but does have eggs. Everyone enjoyed their $12 grassfed beef and $14-$15 Ruben or patty melt sandwich options. $5 Curry fries was nice. They do have 1 restroom, no mirror. They offer a water station on the side with disposable paper cups.

Patio bar top seating are good for individual to couples eating there. A party of 4 like us could be a bit disruptive when sitting on both sides.”

“Been on my list for a while and finally came in on a Saturday for lunch. The noodles were to die for! I got the special with three toppings and it was so perfect and delicious. The meat sauce and tomato egg brought back my childhood memories the nostalgia! The beef cubes were so tender and flavorful. The noodles are perfectly al dente with a little bite. Not to mention the bowl is huge! This place is legit!

The dumplings were good as well but I prefer some of the other SGV greats.

Service is quick and friendly. No wait when I went around 1pm. This is now my go to when I get noodle cravings!”
