“I got the 'Chef's Choice Sashimi Bento Box' with a salad. My boyfriend got 'Katsu Don'. We also shared a bowl of Garlic Edamame and the 'Dancing Tuna' sushi roll.
The bento box was good. The fish was fresh, the gyoza was the perfect consistency and tasty, the side salad was marinated well with the dressing.
The Katsu Don was also really well put together and was super filling and tasty.
The garlic edamame was like no edamame Ive had before. The sauce they put on the edamame made it the best I've ever had and well portioned out.
The sushi roll we shared was the perfect balance of flavor and textures. Not to spicy. It enhanced the fish flavor with accentuation and made it blend well together.
I think I found another top sushi place.“

“The ramen is delicious, but if you're thinking of adding on broccolini skip it. They charge $1 for literally the smallest piece I've ever seen and when I called to voice my concern about feeling ripped off, they didn't care. I feel like if you're paying $20 for a bowl of ramen you should get what you pay for“

“While in town for SDCC my husband and I took a chance here and we are so happy we did! The staff is wonderful and attentive, plus they gave great recommendations. The pork belly melted in my mouth and the salmon went down too smooth. Definitely give this place a shot!“

“Fast casual Japanese eatery specializing in ramen and small rice bowls. Go-to place for the family to pick up takeout or eat in the common food court area within the Mitsuwa grocery store.
A family favorite is the char siu rice bowl (side dish #45). It is simple comfort food with warm and plump short grain rice, topped with tender pork and freshly sliced green onions. The shichimi (seven flavor chili powder) offered at the counter is a nice complement.
The Hiyashi ramen is a cold noodle summer special. Two slices of tender pork, green onions, red pickled ginger, thinly sliced cucumber, and other goodies. Santouka offers three types of sauce - tried the spicey sauce, but felt the mala overpowered the dish a bit. Would recommend the shoyu or sesame sauces and then adding shichimi for more heat.“

“Great tasting Ramen local in Chula Vista - Eastlake area. We don't have to drive to Kearney Mesa anymore for Ramen. Portion is a bit smaller than Rakiraki, but just as delicious. I recommend the black garlic Tonkotsu. It came with the pork belly without paying extra. The Okama Steak Ramen is a bit sweeter, but just as good. I want to try the black garlic flavor Ramen with steak next time.
Service is great, both waiter and waitress are friendly. Nice atmosphere, not crowded, plenty of parking. Highly recommend this restaurant for fresh and authentic flavor Ramen.“

“Not quite like they make it in Japan, but not bad! It’s definitely over priced, but most things are these days. The noodles were a good size & texture and the right portion for me, but some ramen lovers might be left wanting more noods. The spicy miso broth was good and not too greasy and the meat had a delicious charred taste. The soft boiled marinated eggs were also surprisingly good. We also got the garlic edamame and some sushi.“

“Covid-19 take out can be a hit or miss with food tasting like it's container. This place did not disappoint. I ordered the Vegan Ramen for a late lunch. Inside the restaurant is following proper protocol and is very clean. I have always ordered Vegan Ramen anywhere I visit outside of California, and have ordered all over San Diego. This by far is the BEST Vegan Ramen out there. The coconut milk, chili and miso broth is well balanced and buttery, the noodles and added ingredients are well proportioned, the tofu is not at all mushy or greasy..The noodles are fresh and delicious. for a couple dollars more you can add more noodles.. Definitely a stop for some comfort food!“

“I really enjoyed the food. We got 2 sushi rolls and chicken katsu. All 3 were delicious. My only complaint would be the miso soup which had an odd taste, I believe due to the bowl holding the scent and slight taste of whatever soap was used to clean it. Other than that, it was an enjoyable meal.“

“Kumi Café is one of those hidden gems you find and just keep coming back to. My husband and I have been here multiple times, and every visit is just as good — if not better — than the last.
The service is always amazing. The staff is kind, fast, and really on top of things without ever making you feel rushed. They create the kind of experience that makes you feel genuinely taken care of.
Today, we had the Korean short rib, the bento box with gyoza and a California roll, and the tuna poke bowl. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. I normally don’t even like California rolls, but theirs are so good — fresh, not too mayo-heavy, and the rice is just right. My husband said his poke bowl was refreshing and delicious, and I couldn’t stop stealing bites.
We’ve also tried the sashimi and the chicken katsu curry on past visits, and both are incredible. The sashimi is super fresh and generous, and the curry — especially the chicken katsu version — is rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. Definitely one of our favorites on the menu.
The place has a chill, modern vibe — clean and simple, but welcoming. It’s become one of our go-to spots when we want something that hits the spot without breaking the bank.“

“If your looking for an inexpensive and affordable restaurant on San Diego's Convoy Street ( Asian Cultural District) then this is the place for you. Not only are the prices great but the food is delicious especially the curry dishes and their Skewers. The service is great and the servers are very friendly and outgoing. We have dined here twice already and we had a fantastic experience both times.“

“We got the veggie ramen, it was very good.
We also got the spicy tuna bowl-not great. It came out immediately and looked like it had been pre-made, perhaps was sitting there for some time, the lettuce on it was old/wilted. I think if you come here just stick to the ramen it appears it’s what they do best.
Service was very good.
One more observation: The doors of the restaurant were rather dirty, especially the push bars on the doors. It was a strange thing that just stood out to me, but they felt sticky-maybe it was an off night. 🤷🏻♀️“

“Very homey spot that I now call my favorite spot. Couldn’t find many authentic locations till this one. Menu is priced “wallet-friendly” in my opinion. Friendly staff and well-prepared dishes at any given time, I comfortably feel right at home the moment I enter. They have decent specials for specific days of the week, do be sure to check them out when you’re in the area!“

“Stopped by to try their AYCE Lunch special. For $29.99, you can order most of the items from their regular menu. Some are half the regular portion but it's AYCE so ask and get 2 orders if you want the same size. Everything was delicious, but we were mainly there for the nigiri. Every piece of fish was fresh and was a generous size (for typical nigiri).
Our waitress (aah, I forgot to ask for her name) was attentive, and despite being the only one serving a full room, made sure to check on us often. The sushi chef, Ken, did an excellent job on every roll/nigiri we ordered. What really impressed me, though, was an interaction I observed of him and another guest who had a unique communication style. Ken was very kind and patient and didn't treat this guest differently. As a teacher, I teach my students how to communicate in general settings, but I know that not everyone will be patient or understanding of everyone's differences.
I will definitely be back, not only for the food but the awesome service that they provide.“

“This is my go-to sushi spot near SDSU. I’ve been here over 20 times. It’s always packed with college students, and for good reason. The service is consistently friendly and fast.
The sushi here is much better than what you’ll find further west. This area has some of the best. Their rolls are creative, and they really load up the Crunch Roll. The garlic edamame and miso soup are always solid, and the carpaccio sashimi is surprisingly high quality. You can tell the fish is fresh.
A typical tab for 3 to 4 rolls and edamame runs about $70 before tip. Even though I’ve moved over 20 minutes away, I still find myself coming back.“

“I don’t know what happens in SD, but some restaurants (Good restaurants) look empty. This place is nice, good vibe , and good service. I like see restaurants half full, people enjoying food and flowing service and this one has potential for that! 🫶🏼“
