“This year (2024) the dining room has a new chef, and some new decor, and it is incredible! Hands down one of the best restaurants in the Tahoe area. Unique menu, we had dinner and then came back for breakfast and ate eggs benedict with short ribs. The even have an in house espresso bar. It's best to go if you're staying in the hotel, at one of the homes, or enjoying a nice day at the resort, since you do have to take a gondola or walk in. It's a truly special space with a mid century modern feel, and all the details well thought out. Highly recommend!“

“After experiencing an incredibly rude interaction by the owners of the nearby Smokey’s place, I decided to walk over to the Truckee Food Shop and grab a roasted half chicken with vegetables and Caesar salad. The owner was probably the most pleasant person I’ve dealt with in a very long time. And the food was great! I went on my home to Sacramento area but stopped at the lookout on the old Donner Summit Road. I enjoyed my meal with the wonderful scenery in front of me. It was nice and much better than dealing with that rude old old lady at Smokey’s.“
“We were stuck on 80 for hours last night. We stopped in for food and a potty break. The kind lady up front was an awesome one woman show. Juggling the phone calls, register, dining room, kitchen and all the customers/chaos with a smile. She was only serving slices because of the volume of folks stopping in from the slow traffic on 80 and being the only one there. The pizza was fantastic, we went back for thirds! You can taste that the dough and sauce is homemade. “This place was a real treat. It is a popular spot amongst the locals, so it can get a little busy and a little loud but that is the worst thing I can say about this place. The servers were friendly and attentive. The prices were reasonable, especially considering the HUGE portion sizes. My partner and I each got a sandwich from the menu and decided against getting any appetizers, which thank goodness we did! Those two sandwiches could have fed 3 or 4 people! I got the steak dip which was umami heaven and my partner got the pomegranate chicken sandwich which was flavorful, juicy, and a little bit different (in the best possible way).We ended up coming back the next day and getting just a couple appetizers for lunch. These were also huge and delicious. The pretzel bites were piping hot, soft and pillowy things of beauty, especially dipped in the beer cheese sauce. “Super cute shop, mostly for take out food. There is no seating indoors but there are a couple of picnic tables outside. Today I had a ribeye panini which was absolutely delicious. Very savory and satisfying. They have mole, pozole, fried chicken, various salads, sandwiches, and pasta. Lots of interesting drinks too. You can buy baked bread, dry pastas, sauces, spices too. If this were located in downtown Truckee where there is more foot traffic, I know that there would be a line out the door.“
“We had a wonderful quiet birthday celebration at The Lodge main dinning room. The food was superb! I had the Alaska Halibut and my birthday boy had the Venison. We shared a Caesar salad topped with that lovely crisp fried parmesan. Everything from the delicious cocktails to the final bite was terrific. The service was good, the room is nice.
