It's very rare that you go to a restaurant and know that the staff loves the restaurant. There was one person running the entire front of the house, but she was always genuinely smiling and at the end of our meal gave us cookies that her and her brother (the cook) had as children!

The tempura was good, sauce was great too. Katsu was fried perfectly, sauce was tangy and fantastic, just wish the pork was more moist/tender. Karaage was just okay, probably wouldn’t order it again, most of the flavor came from the sauce. My dad loved his eel bowl set, flavored and cooked well. My katsudon bowl was delicious, again katsu was a little dry, togarashi is a must with this bowl. And the cold soba noodles were great, the sauce dip was perfectly seasoned and noodles were perfect texture, very refreshing to eat.

“Hidden gem of an authentic Japanese sushi and sashimi market. The entrance is located in the back of a side driveway. Though this market is small, I carries fresh sushi, sashimi trays ready to eat. Plus they have a kitchen made to order & ready to cut sashimi at your request. I'm also amazed to see the varieties of different raw fish, uni from Santa Barbara and raw scallops; all at reasonable prices.
They also carry cute Japanese stationary, frozen and regular food items. Definitely this is a place I heartily recommend.“

“I ordered a vegetable tempura bowl, which was extremely generous! The pieces of vegetables were huge. It was pretty heavy with the grease and that’s what ultimately removed a star from my review. I also ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl. I asked to add vegetables and learned that it’s not an additional price because they do it by weight. I eat Flame Broiler regularly and this is similar. The sauce at this restaurant is much lighter and the chicken is probably not as intense in flavor, but the bowl is very good. I would order it again. They have a little table with condiments and they offer the ginger which is yummy but it is the pink dyed ginger, which is unfortunate. It’s very tasty, however. They seem to do a good business with a ready supply of people wandering in to enjoy their food. The young man behind the register was very helpful and patient. They have various specials and that seems to be a good deal if you wanna take advantage of a daily special or a combination. I think the price is a reasonable, which is nice these days.“

The food did not disappoint. We got two ramens (classic tonkotsu and the shoyu ramen) the flavor of the broth and the tenderness of the meat were the highlights. Since my little one only eats the crab rolls, I can get the 4 piece set with all crab rolls and save a little bit vs buying them individually. “This restauraunt serves really yummy salmon handrolls and custom poke bowls. The salmon and tuna taste pretty fresh, they don’t have any weird fishy taste. They offer a variety of toppings to choose from as well. However, the amount of sauce added can be a little overpowering sometimes. I’d suggest putting a note/request to add a little less! And even though it slightly adds to the price, I would also recommend checking off “Extra Salmon” when ordering, because without the additional it feels like there is not enough.
