“This quaint amazing Japanese restaurant is a hidden gem in Boyle Heights. Very friendly staff and great food. They also let me order 10 minutes before closing. The only, minor, complaints are that there is very limited seating, they have a limited menu and they operate limited hours.“

“Everything was perfect, fave drink was lychee martini and in the morning strawberry matcha. For dinner we loved the rib eye, ceviche, tuna tartar and chicken the most. The Caesar salad was unique and I really enjoyed it. Miso eggplant also great! We were so full and didn’t think we could eat any more but The sorbet at the end was delicious, super light and refreshing. Service was friendly, atmosphere very pretty.“

“we ordered a big catering order from guzzu for an office meeting. It was phenomenally good. The food was packaged really well, was hot, fresh, and delicious, and a huge hit. The salmon was moist and flavorful, the vegan katsu was surprisingly delicious, ans both the grilled chicken and fried chicken were really good. Will definitely be ordering from them again, and can’t wait to stop in to try non-catering!
Dietary restrictions: Vegan Katsu was delicious“

“What a GREAT dinner! Met friends here on a late Friday night and they fit us in. The sushi was fresh and so tasty, definitely the best I’ve had in a LONG time. The drinks were amazing, try a version of their old fashioned but so many different drinks to choose from. Our server Christine was so attentive & sweet. We felt the service was 10/10! I recommend the wagyu dumplings and Geisha roll!“

“I like this katsu place. We also tried the spicy miso ramen. It was good, but quite spicy, so if you can’t handle spicy food, I think it’s better to choose something else. Expect to wait for a while during dinner time. If you order katsu to-go, they will give you the whole set in a bento box.“

“This gyoza bar has three styles of gyozas with a variety of fillings. I got the traditional gyoza teishoku (set meal) with yaki (pan fried) pork gyoza. The set came with rice, cabbage, spaghetti, miso soup, veggies, and pickled radish. The gyoza were flavorful and paired nicely with their house chili oil.
I also noticed they have a good happy hour deal and serve desserts now!“

“The plant based kaiseki was amazing. Beautifully presented, deliciously seasoned, and well portioned. The hot pot was the biggest of all courses and it was so much food! The black sesame ice cream was surprisingly delicious.
Vegetarian options: The 7 course plant based kaiseki was amazing
Dietary restrictions: Dietary restrictions was the very first question asked!“

“The staff are friendly. We enjoyed the Kitchen boat. The garlic fried rice with chicken was very good and tasted similar to hibachi fried rice. Brought my young nephews and they enjoyed the beef and chicken teriyaki. Will definitely come again and will try other sushi and noodles dishes.“

“First, let me say that I don’t usually write reviews. I will add that I travel a lot and try to get sushi as my dinner whenever I am on the road so I’ve patronized a lot of sushi restaurants, mostly in the US and Canada. Roll and Teriyaki is one of those places that compelled me to write a review. I had the miso soup, the 12 piece sashimi dish, the rainbow roll, and the caterpillar roll. The miso soup was good. The sashimi was very good. The rainbow roll was fantastic. And, the caterpillar roll was so unbelievably good that I almost didn’t want to swallow. All that at a more than super reasonable price. Thank you R&T.“

“A true hidden gem that I hope won't be hidden for long. Some of the best poke and handrolls I've had in LA. All very fresh fish, flavorful seasonings, and big portions, especially the huge handrolls. Better than Kazunori. I recommend the blue crab and spicy tuna.“

“4.5 ⭐️s for overall experience! My friend, her kids, and I enjoyed our meal in mostly every way - flavors, service, and cleanliness. The house salad was healthy (not just iceberg lettuce) and had a generous portion for one person. My friend said it was super delicious - Sunset roll, blue crab roll, and miso black cod were on point flavor wise. Only negatives were that the seaweed was a bit chewy (not super tough though) and the soup slightly salty. The staff was kind, friendly, attentive, and patient - hard to come by these days. Prices are reasonable and I plan to come back. Parking is tougher at times in this plaza, but at some point, you'll find a spot.“

“Got the gyu (beef) yakiniku bento. Pretty straight forward place, no frills.
Rice, beef, and ginger, and 1 other small side (I can’t remember) but it was really good.
There’s no sit down. Just a desk to take your order and pick up.“

“This is a jewel of a place, it's on the southside of the street on Whittier Blvd about a quarter mile west of Beach blvd. Their sushi rolls are excellent and their prices are a bit lower than other sushi places who overcharge for the same faire.
Gunn, the proprietor is the nicest guy and he's humorous and goes out of his way to make you feel welcome every time you come in. The best tasting sushi in the area!
Parking: Parking is easy and open“

“Trust me when I tell you this was REALLY good, the classic Tonkotsu is always my go to and theirs is just SO good, I loved it and their broccolini was a solid plus 🤩 I only wish they would add a little more meat (pork option bc the chicken one was just perfect 👌)“

“Loved this place! Didn't know it was Japanese food until we looked it up. Lol. The tonkatsu curry was excellent! The katsu was fried perfectly and the meat was tender and melted in your mouth! We were looking for a local Japanese place to eat and we finally found one minutes away from us. Can't wait to go back!“

“Always passed by this place and wanted to try it. It was really good but the atmosphere was really sad. If they put some effort on the decor it would be really nice. But it’s understandable seeing how a lot of people these days order take out or delivery. But overall 8/10 very good food!“

“Chinchikurin was my first ever Hiroshima style okonomiyaki. I've had the Osaka version in Japan many years ago, but haven't had okonomiyaki of any kind in the US since. So this experience was definitely fun. The food was very tasty and well built. I ordered the Loaded Kaisen, which was the seafood okonomiyaki as part of the 11-layer savory pancake. It was very filling. After the cooks make the okonomiyaki at the main teppan grill, you eat it at your own personal grill at your table, which keeps your order nice and warm. Be sure to put a lot of the mayo and otafuku sauce atop it to make the flavor even bolder and more exciting. If you've never had okonomiyaki before, Chinchikurin is a great place to start. There are very few of these kinds of restaurants in LA, so Chinchikurin is a very unique Japanese cuisine in Little Tokyo worth scoping out. I did a YouTube video of my eating adventures here, which can be found on my channel called Rockstar Eater“

“We are traveling on our honeymoon and stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. The guy who served us is extremely kind and nice. He responded courteously to all our doubts or questions. The food is spectacular, the kobe meat is excellent and the miso soup very tasty. The soy sauce is in a very good variant that goes perfectly with rice and meat. We really enjoyed this fusion cuisine. Highly recommended!“

“I tired the strawberry shortcake, a pork/chicken/pizza bun. They were all tasty and worth the 8 minute average wait time.
Parking: If you buy $10 and more, the restaurant will validate your parking ticket for 1 hour [only the 2 parking lots located inside the little toyko plaza]“

“Been meaning to eat here forever. Finally, I came in today for lunch. Got the Combo C and the Blossom Roll. I've eaten at all the Japanese restaurants in SGV and Little Tokyo. This one is up there. High quality of food, while flavors go together well without being overpowering.“

“I used to be a semi-regular 30 years ago. Somehow, it tastes and smells the same in there. I had the lunch special. It's just as delicious as I remember from when I was a kid. I think even the nice little old lady at the counter is the same, although I can't imagine how that's possible given how much time has passed, maybe she's her daughter? This place is a time warp back to a simpler time and all the feelings are good for me with this place, comfort food to the max. Highly recommend you start a memory here in this homey hole in the wall. It's been good for more than 30 years, how can you go wrong?
Parking: Small parking lot but most people get take out so it's not so busy.“

“The food was really however you had to pay like 2 dollars for each additional topping which wouldn't be so bad if it were a sharable size so more than one person could use them

“This place did not appear automatically on Google Maps and we just saw it in the area. But so glad we did! Got the donkatsu (Donkkaseu) combo with soba. Portions were pleasantly larger than expected and we felt contently full afterwards. The katsu was fried perfectly and had a nice crunch! The donkatsu had lots of meat, and there were also side dishes that came with the meal!
It definitely felt like we got our value's worth.“

“Hot take: way better than Silverlake Ramen down the street. Better portions. Better food. They can easily accommodate my kid’s random eating habits and they have options outside of ramen for that one person in the group that just isn’t in the mood. Staff is nice and attentive without hovering. So happy they’re back open again. The remodel is great! No notes from a design point of view.
Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options and modifications.
Dietary restrictions: That same kid is a vegetarian and they have no issues augmenting things for her.
Parking: Parking is shared with the small shopping center. Plenty.
Kid-friendliness: We always have our kid with us when we eat here. It’s usually her idea.
Wheelchair accessibility: There’s a ramp into the sidewalk. The restaurant isn’t cramped. Plenty of room for a few wheelchairs in there simultaneously.“

“I am really glad I found this place. It's a great teriyaki bowl restaurant that serves up better than your average meal. First, they use a great teriyaki sauce. Not the typical sugar loaded sweet teriyaki but a delicious, savory sauce with a little smokiness to it that really is just great on any of their plates. The chicken and the beef is always perfectly cooked, never dry, and never tough. Very enjoyable eating. It's actually the only teriyaki bowl restaurant I visit now even though it's not that close to home. It's definitely worth the drive.
I definitely recommend anyone stop by and give it a try! Cheers!“

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I had an incredible dining experience largely thanks to our server and general manager, Savior. He made us feel welcome and truly immersed us in the culture behind the cuisine. Each dish was insanely delicious thoughtfully made and presented to perfection! The sashimi and any skewer on the menu are a must.
Savior took the time to explain the menu in a way that honored the traditions for each dish. His passion for the food and the overall experience made our meal feel special.
I can’t recommend him and this restaurant enough. If you’re looking for a fantastic meal paired with genuine hospitality, you have to try Taberu!“

“This is the best place in LA for teriyaki. I got the chicken and beef plate. The sauce is sweet and delicious, the chicken is perfectly grilled with a nice charbroiled flavor, and the beef is tender. Make sure you add the fresh avocados which pair perfectly with the meat and rice. I enjoyed adding the complimentary hot yellow chilies as well.
This is my third visit here and tonight the beef seemed a little bit fattier than usual like it wasn't trimmed enough, but other than that, everything was perfect. I will be back.“
