“Clean, nice little traditional Japanese restaurant with the popular and inexpensive options like the big bowl champon, the 18pc dumplings, the fried chicken(the first and only restaurant I didn't find salty), and several other choices. This place has the feel of those local restaurants shown by YouTubers traveling to little Japanese towns, and prices are very firm to earth honest...I had to smile when I saw the prices had different values after the decimal, you'll understand when you see it.”
“Cute unassuming sushi spot that isn't too busy! The server was kind and open to answering all my questions about what was and wasn't gluten free. I got the sashimi mix with steamed rice and didn't have any issues. The fish itself was fresh and for the price, I was satisfied with the portions. The chefs were also receptive about cleaning the cutting board and knives for my meal. This is definitely going to be my go-to neighborhood spot for sushi now.Gluten Free: Miso soupTamari-provided upon request Hot sakeEdamameNot gluten free:Salad DressingImitation Crab MeatPonzu”
“I got the chirashi bowl recently after not visiting for 10 years. The bowl used to have uni and much more monkfish liver. Now, it has very little premium ingredients. The price hasn’t inflated relative to other places, so the value is good. However, I wish they’d introduce a “premium” bowl that’s more like the original.”
“Back again for a Saturday evening! This time we had the Yellowtail collar, variety of sashimi, skewers, and a variety of rolls. (See pics)Favorites/Highlights:1. Yellowtail collar was so good! Highly recommend!2. Dynamite baked roll was great portion! The scallops on top were plentiful3. Spider roll and dragon roll: great options if you like the tempura shrimp and soft shell crab as part of the rolls4. Crispy rice topped with spicy tuna: love this so much. I order it every where I go, and this place does it so well 5. Skewers: Beef tongue, Pork Belly, and Squid legs were all very tasty and prepared with care. Great good and very decent prices! Flavor of the food here is spot on! Happy to have this in our area of Hacienda Heights. Plus, they have a $3.99 draft beer special! Sapporo was my choice tonight! So refreshing and delicious!”
“Simple food n fun unique flavors you cant find anywhere else like Albacore Ecstasy and etc.**Update: Post-COVID has made the restaurant more take-out oriented, with the sushi bar seating gone. Reservations and seating is available, but reduced by 20-30% now that part of Dine-In area has been modified for Take-Out.”
“A small but excellent Japanese Restaurant in Rowland Heights. For the 1st time visitors, the location may be strange as it is located in the middle of industrial zone but you will not be disappointed there with friendly staff and delicious food. This place is always packed with the crowd, so prepare yourself for a long wait to dine in.”
“It's a hidden little gem. A tiny little restaurant with ample seating. Quick and friendly service. Great atmosphere. Food is delicious at a decent price. This is our go to spot fresh ginger lol. Do not underestimate the importance of fresh ginger lol. This time around the gills, I was a little over fried for me, but my fiancé begs to differ.”
“It's been a while since I visited Yakiya, but the memories of that fantastic dining experience still linger. From the moment we arrived, we were promptly seated, a testament to their efficiency. I was particularly impressed with how quickly the staff ensured tables were cleaned between plates. The kitchen team deserves special mention too, as they kept the scrumptious dishes coming without any unnecessary delay. The star of the evening was, of course, the meat. Each cut was not only delicious but also richly flavored, a testament to their meticulous preparation. The presentation was nothing short of artistic, a feast for the eyes as much as for the palate. While the essence of the dishes was deeply rooted in Japanese culinary traditions, I was pleasantly surprised by the subtle touches of Korean fusion in some. It added an unexpected, yet delightful twist.”
